The Buffalo-Toronto game has been a fucking ref show. The penalty call on Briere for a mere light tap on Battaglia with his stick is probably the worst one I've seen this season. I don't think we watch hockey to see some idiot referees make shitty calls every ten seconds.

A scary incident happened during the Blackhawks-Jackets game last night, a player got cut in the neck by a skateblade. I didn't see it, but it sounds like it wasn't as bad as when Clint Malarchuk had his throat cut. Still pretty scary though. EDIT: I just saw it and it looked worse than I expected. Zherdev's leg came up and Bourque, who was behind him, got the skateblade right across the throat. Thank god he's OK.

That was the slash on Belak's hand, which hurt him. It was pretty careless of Murray and an obvious call to make, I thought. Can't blame you for being frustrated though, if the situation was reversed I'd probably be here bitching about it. I'd talk about the Western Conference more often if I could get myself to watch more than a few Sharks and Oilers games, and I didn't even get to see the Edmonton-St. Louis game that was on this afternoon.

I think Emery should be Ottawa's full-time starter when he comes back. He is a lot better than Gerber, that's for sure.

The Habs have got to be hating the puck-over-the-glass penalty rule after tonight, but I don't recall any really bad calls against the Habs tonight (the ref's were Warren and Walsh, BTW). The Leafs didn't get a lot of calls against them, it helps to have a coach who doesn't bitch at the referees all the time I guess and the players haven't whined as much, either.

Now you can say Raycroft stole a game for Toronto. Leafs could've easily scored 8 goals tonight, though, with all the posts they hit and the missed scoring chances. Philly was lucky to make it through the 1st period down by only 1, Leafs were lucky to make it out of the 2nd with the game still tied. But definitely, Leafs are fortunate to have had only 1 goal against tonight, as Raycroft made 40 saves. In the 2nd, when a Philly player sat down in the box after taking a penalty, the graphic came up showing the player who took the penalty and in the subtitle where the penalty type is supposed to be, it read something like "Assists: Name Here, Name Here". I immediately thought of all the MNF graphic fuck-ups (Name Lastname, among others).

LMAO, sour grapes. It wasn't the Sabres best game of the season but the Leafs played a good game last night despite having a run of penalties in the 3rd. I thought the Sabres were going to embarass them, the way TO had been playing the last few games. Sundin was on fire. Belak-Peters was the worst "scrap" I have ever seen.
