Pride wants a WWE rep in it's Grand Prix Tournament this year, Angle or Lesnar being the preferable choices. While nobody has numbers, Pride is willing to pay big money because they know it would take that to get the stars of that level to participate in shoot matches. But there is no way that will happen. It may wind up being a pinfall battle royal as opposed to an over the top rope one since the cruiserweight style of match involves flying over the top ropes for a lot of offensive moves. They are thinking 10 men which would include Rey, Chavo, Kidman, Tajiri, Nunzio, Akio, and Noble. There was talk of Dean Malenko coming out of retirement for this match, but Dave is pretty sure that ain't happening. Pro: Crusierweight gimmick match! (Has there ever been one of those in the WWE?) Con: Not one that really "adds" to the cruiserweight division or showcases the "fun". Pro: Pin falls rather than over-the-top elimination. Con: A lot of cruisers will be eliminated in the first 5 minutes thus burying them ("hey, at least they're at WM!"... "shaddap") Pro: Lots of people on outside of the ring = really big top rope spot OR the WCW signature of "everyone his their top rope spots". Con: They'll probably be presented as "oh, lookit all those cute lil cruiserweights.. aawww...".

They totally overstate the growth. If you look at their financial reports nearly EVERYTHING is smaller in comparison to the years previous.

Rumble match - ** (Not actually based on anything, so that's all I will give it. I hate battle royales, so since 50% of the match will at least be crowded, I can't go up to give them ***.) HHH/HBK - *** 1/2 (Euck, I feel like I'm overrating this... I shouldn't rate HBK's matches; mainly cause I can't stand him.) Holly/Lesnar - **1/2 (Eh..) Dudleys/Flair&Batista - * (There is nothing good here. That one star is for a big bump which will probably be batista powerbombing Dvon off the apron and through a table OMG DID YOU SEE THAT!!!) Chavo/Eddy - *** (I'm not very high on Eddie right now; he hasn't really produced anything at a level that tells me this will be a ***1/2+ match. The General keeps this above **1/2 though.) Rey/Noble - *** 1/4 (I don't think any cruiserweight matches go beyond ***1/2 in the WWE, do they? Not since Taka/Sasuke, at least. Loses 1/4 *'s for Nidia being involved, somehow.)

The first time I read your Recap I was like "hmm, this reminds me a lot of CRZ" - mind you, that's not a good thing cause I wasn't a big fan of his recaps (though I do source them quite a bit as he transcribed promos). Yours are better, cause you have the commercial break comments which is basically all I read... cause readin... readin sucks, dude. I know what happened in the match, I just wanna know what you thought. I care like that.
