That is so not the post I wanted to proceed the FAFOTD... ... god bless you AmericanDragon.

... oh, and if you think WC is bad, you haven't seen the Sherdog messageboard. It makes WC look sane.

Book is certainly Mal's religious side.... River? Wash? Zoe? Simon? Inara?

What I find ironic is that a thread about the stupidity (or "low quality") of the WWE folder has to be one of the dumbest and worthless threads I've read today. Anyone else notice that?

Dammit Dynamite! Took my line. Crazy Ladies.

Line of 2004! I was surprised with the heat (or lack thereof) that HHH got in his entrance on RAW. And that's not the usual HHHate, I was legitimately surprised since he tends to get that big pop when the music plays.

OH MY GOD!!!! YOUR Fight and Fighters of the Day ARE!!! Randy “The Natural” Couture vs. Vitor “The Phenom” Belfort Champion Name: Randy Couture Nickname: The Natural Height/Weight: 6'1 / 205 lbs. MMA Record: 12 - 5 - 0 Style: Greco-Roman Wrestling From: U.S.A. Association: Team Quest Last Fight vs. Tito Ortiz (Win *Decision* UFC 40: Undisputed) vs. Name: Vitor Belfort Nickname: The Phenom Height/Weight: 6'0 / 205 lbs. MMA Record: 11 - 3 - 0 Style: Jiu-Jitsu From: Brazil Last Fight vs. Marvin Eastman (Win *TKO* - UFC 43: Meltdown) When I got “back into” MMA in 2001, I went to the local Blockbuster and rented some ‘old’ UFC’s. These videos went from UFC 1 to UFC 20, and my favourite period of time had to be from UFC 13 to UFC 20 – Tito Ortiz debuted, Coleman was fallen, cross-training was beginning to really become prevalent. Watching these videos, two fighters began to capture my attention. They represented the change of the guard; one was a Brazilian trained under Carlson Gracie who stunned audiences (and fighters) with his blazing-fast hand speed; the other was a Greco-Roman wrestler who didn’t rely on Ground and Pound like the last prominent wrestler and focused more on submissions. These two men, of course, are Vitor Belfort and Randy Couture. They were (and still are) among my favourite fighters and it excites and pains me to see them fight as one of them will have to lose and fall down the light-heavyweight ladder… … but this isn’t the first time they have fought. By UFC 15 Vitor Belfort was lighting the world on fire – never before had there been such an explosive fighter with that kind of hand speed, it seemed no one could stop him. He was labeled a “Phenom” and at the age of 19 he was being groomed for a top spot in the sport. Randy Couture, on the other hand, was 36 years old – his best days seemingly behind him – and was actually less experienced than his young opponent. Belfort had won his last few fights quickly, making sport of legends like Tank Abbott and never went beyond 2 1/2 minutes. The fight with Couture was expected to go the same way. Someone forgot to tell Randy. Randy Couture has made a name for himself defying the odds. This is best seen in the past year where he came out from nowhere (well, not nowhere, he came from 2 devastating losses to heavyweights Josh Barnett and Ricco Rodriguez and had people telling him it was “over”) to soundly beat top contender Chuck Liddell and then spanked champion Tito Ortiz and took the Light-Heavyweight title… all at the tender age of 40. This was not the first time he ruined the UFC’s plans… The fight certainly did not go as expected – well, it kind of did. Belfort came out and unleashed his quick hands on Couture and it seemed to go like his fights with Abbot, Telligman, Ferrozzo, but this was no ordinary wrestler he was facing – this was one who had some boxing training himself and Couture was able to withstand the opening flurry and took Belfort to a place he had never been before in the octagon – past the 5 minute mark. The secret to his success was in the clinch – Belfort’s speed was determined by the amount of movement he had, in the clinch that movement was limited and therefore he couldn’t tee off like he did in his previous matches. Couture was able to throw jabs and uppercuts in the clinch while Belfort was generally clueless and tried to keep up (bad move in MMA). Couture also pressed the fight against Belfort and had him backtracking – what everyone thought Vitor would do to him. Couture controlled the fight and as anyone who have seen Randy fight know, when Randy controls the fight, the fight is over and won. This fight proved 2 things – never count Randy Couture out, and that Randy Couture could box… 2 things that people forgot in 03 and now know for sure. Which brings us to UFC 46, this is the first time in a long time that Randy Couture is the favourite to win; He is not the underdog; He does not have the odds stacked against him. He is the champion and by extension, isn’t as hungry as he was when challenging and doesn’t have anything left to prove. But this fight isn’t just about Randy Couture; it’s also about Vitor Belfort. After his fight with Randy at UFC 15, Belfort began to change. With the exception of his fight with Wanderlei Silva at UFC Brazil, Belfort began to calm down. He fought a slower-paced fight; the fists of fury were no longer there. This was both a mental and physical roadblock for the once hottest prospect on the market – he had several hand surgeries and didn’t have the fire he once had. He went to PRIDE and was defeated by Sakuraba, and then fought 3 unremarkable fights against Gilbert Yvel at PRIDE 9, Daijiro Matsui at PRIDE 10 and Heath Herring at PRIDE 14. Rather than finishing his opponents off in under a minute like he did in the past, Vitor was now content with going to a decision. The “New” Vitor brought yawns to fans and had them wishing for the “Old” Vitor to come back. Well, they got their wish at UFC 43. Next to Couture dominating Liddell, Belfort destroying highly regarded Marvin Eastman was the talk of the MMA world. Now, to bring his journey full circle, Belfort must beat the one who derailed his quest to become the top fighter in the sport. To show everyone that he can still compete at an elite level and wow us all over again. Vitor Belfort, most certainly, has something to prove.

Right now I'd go for the UFC card.. simply because PRIDE's will probably change a dozen times.

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Spike was notorious as a vampire - killed 2 slayers - second only to Angel. Of course, Wes would know about him. In season 5 when the council came to Sunnydale, one of the watchers did a paper on Spike. -
I read this in an interview and Cappy also brings it up in the Serenity commentary.... Says Fillion, "I think that everyone in Mal's crew has personality qualities that he has had and then lost and that is most evident in Kaylee. She is this bright, sparkly thing. She is Hope. She is always looking for the pleasant side of any situation and has a lust for life and an excitement for the new and the strange. I think she brings out a quality in Mal that means whilst he may not share her excitement, he can enjoy hers. She is a very important part of not only keeping the ship in the air but also keeping Mal human." So who do you think the other 3 are??? (I SO called Nathan Fillion "Cappy" - shuddup, you love it)

Agreed. Along with the Love Triangle, you can have Urkel and, say, Christian, at odds with each other and Christian plays pranks on him and makes fun of him infront of all the wrestlers. Then they end up getting locked in a Janitor's closet or a meat locker or bomb shelter where they're stuck together and Christian learns a lil bit more about Steve and Steve learns a lil bit more about Christian and they begin to respect each other. After they get out, another wrestler (say, Test) makes fun of Steve and Christian comes up and you think he's about to join in and laugh, but instead he tells Test to back off and that Urkel is a cool guy. -

Oh yeah, the intention for Laura coming in and asking for Steves help was MONTHS after the original GM-ship. However, the strength of Urkel coming out on that RAW was in it's freshness and "shock value". So introducing him before that may take a lil "shine" off it. With that said, I do like the idea of Urkel being in the crowd and making the speech (or something to "that" effect, where he teaches everyone about being different and embracing what makes you unique) and Linda recognizing Urkels moral values and making him GM. The scene with Austin and Bischoff could be adjusted with Linda on-screen saying she found the "right" person for the job, and then Urkel comes out. That definitely works and eases the fans into accepting Urkel as GM and not just some ratings ploy (which it obviously is). Yeah, I did kinda drop the ball with Urkel as GM - I was too eager to get into the Maxine storyline and really should have had Urkel interact some more with the wrestlers before really getting "in" to all that. The heels on RAW would be reluctant to take orders from a nerd, and the faces would stand up for him in the end and he feels accepted into the group. Then he does something nice for one of the heels, and all the bad guys begin to turn around and accept him as well and they all do the Urkel Dance together and show their 'inner-nerd'. THEN we can do the Maxine-saga. -

Wrestlers Upset Over Coach/Vince/Ross Fiasco

Ok, wrap-party. *picks up drink and takes a sip* I think we did some quality work here, I thought I jumped the shark at Maxine offering Waldo head but we pulled it through after a rough spell thanks to Fridgid and NY. Then Edward came in and took us in a completely different direction and I think, I think that really helped out the series. I think I may have over-extended myself on the Christian/Hardy Bosom Buddies schtick but that's somewhere I really wanted to go and had long-term growth possibilities that I wouldn't mind exploring in the future... but from then-on the focus was taken away from the orginal plot of Steve Urkel: Raw GM and the show suffered, it suffered, it did, I admit it, it suffered a bit. The Perfect Strangers inclusion was a good hit, but I think it came too soon after Bosom Buddies to really get off the ground, but that's a relationship that I enjoy and would like to see more of. Spanky really would fit that role well, as would Paul - I like it alot, actually. I think we peaked with "Michelle: Yeah Vince, you big poopiehead. *The whole crowd goes "Awwwwww" and that gave me great hopes of a resurgence, but I think I effectively killed any progress made with the Step-by-Step reference, it was just poor quality and didn't meet up to the standards that was set before it... *sigh*... good job though, good job... It's not in Tomko/Fertig territory, it didn't really have the legs and the passion that T/F had, and you know, we'll never get the recognition for it, but I think it has it's place up there somewhere. Somewhere... I'm glad it got ended when it did, we never got into "baby" territory or anything like that, so we saved ourselves from a long, steep, fall. It's better that way, really. Actually, now that I look back and think about it, I'm kind of disappointed that this didn't go towards it's original intent: The "very special" episode of RAW which deals with Race-issues. I was hoping to go there after the Urkel-GM thing, but it was sort of a balancing act and I kinda got caught up in the story and hype that I really couldn't "connect" the two in any feasible way. So we kinda lost the political message - the social commentary, if you will - of the story and really, the whole thread. And I think that was integral to the development of this series, to really educate people on all these issues; but that's Smarkywood... you know? -

You're right, I've totally forgotten that the heart and soul of all these storylines are JR and King's reactions to them... I... I don't know what went wrong... Taker is probably moving to Raw for the Kane storyline anyways. Ok, Full House on RAW. Smackdown at least has the Perfect Strangers storyline... maybe they can have Step-by-Step as well; Edge could make for a good Cody... I guess... I dunno. Step-by-Step is kinda hard to do given the Brady-esque nature of it... Sable can be Suzanne Sommers... -

You are SO wrong. The Family Matters storyline is mainly in-ring. As is the Bosom Buddies storyline. The Perfect Strangers storyline, yes, that is mainly skit oriented, but it will have some in-ring action...on Velocity. -

I think Full House would be better suited for Smackdown - so Taker and Uncle Jesse can ride their motorcycles on the rooftop of a building and Jesse realizes he isn't the wild, young, rebel he once was and that he has much to live for. Then Steph can be exposed as the Candice Cameron rip-off we've all suspected her to be. -

*BIG POP!!!* Of course, King saying "RAW has become a Full House with the introduction of the Tanner family!" is necessary - just for the pun. I just downloaded the Full House theme as well
