In my opinion, the Heavyweight/WWE title won't be credible until it's Undisputed again to have ONE champion. I never saw the WCW title as worth anything after WCW died. It didn't mean anything when Rock won it, it didn't mean anything when Angle won it, it didn't mean anything when it was "unified" with the WWE title. It didn't mean anything when it was "broken" from the unified title... why should it?

I don't really plan on buying WM 20 right now. Ok, that's not a huge surprise. I won't buy WM just because "it's WM", they actually have to DO something for my money - I know, shocker. Benoit/HHH won't get my money.
-
Benoit kicked out of an F-5, the move that put down Hogan and Rock - two of these "heros" that Benoit supposedly isn't. Then took a chair shot. THEN got put in a submission. Pussy?

LOL! (From my "recommendations" list) Pride 12 - Silva vs. Henderson rules. Sakuraba vs. Gracie is really good. This was the first Pride a friend-of-mine saw and he became instantly hooked. Pride 14 - Daijiro Matsui vs. Pele is really, really good. Shoji vs. Henderson is non-stop. Silva continues to build his reputation. Mezger vs. Liddell is back-and-forth action with a sick finish. Pride 17 - a really awesome bout between Antonio Rodrigo Noguiera and Heath Herring. One of the best heavyweight fights you will see. This is the show where they determine the 2 champions (Heavyweight and Middleweight) and it’s in the Tokyo Dome so the atmosphere is amazing. This show has a lil bit of everything on it and features mainly current fighters. I think you will be VERY pleased 101 fights for $20, I would imagine, is a good deal. I bought 60 fights for that much (Gladiator Challenge), and I was pleased - even if it wasn't "the greatest thing ever" . I mean, if you haven't seen Bang Ludwig vs. Shad Smith, thats worth the $20 alone

Well, Benoit tapped against Angle for the title at RR03 - he refused to tap against Brock on Smackdown - wouldn'tcha think the natural evolution would be for Benoit to get out of it in his title win??? That's what we called "buildin"..
-
All it takes for Benoit to "effect" Lesnar is going back to that footage, going back to Lesnar making the promise during the show, and saying "You did not beat me".

Mumble all you want. Bottom line, Chris Benoit someone who has been handed shit since he entered WWE/F is going to possibly be in the main event of the biggest extravaganza of all time and you reply by bitching about which title he is fighting for. Because *the title* is the whole fucking point! Benoit wants to win the *WWE* title, not the WCW title. He has stated *NO* intentions for the WCW title, he wants the WWE title. Getting this? Against Kurt Angle last year, against Austin in 01, against Rock in 00 - that's the title Benoit wants. Benoit wants the WWE title. Said it 4 times, you should get it by now. Put yourself in Benoit (or any other wrestler's shoes), odds are they would kill to be in such a high profile match on that card. But how does that effect *me*? And how does that effect Benoits title run? Cause, if he wins it cheaply, his run will suck. He will be labelled as someone who couldn't carry the ball when it was given to him. But hey, "At least he got the title"! Complain and bitch all you want. All I know is that if Benoit does defeat HHH live in front of me at MSG, I will fucking enjoy it. Ignorance is bliss... I think the fact that many people on THIS board are willing to settle for Benoit/HHH proves that Benoit just doesn't inspire teh same kind of reaction as your ideal ME babyface. I don't follow. I haven't really heard many people say "I don't want Benoit to win the title" - infact, a large number of people on this board want Benoit to win the title... some of us just care a little bit more and want his title win to, you know, actually be GOOD. I mean, if WE'RE divided on the subject, what is the casual fan going to care which title Benoit wins? I dunno, I'm not a casual fan. I tend to base my reasoning on fact - fact is, that title that HHH has isn't the true WWE title - it isn't of the same lineage. It's not the title Benoit wants. I don't want Benoit winning the WCW belt. It doesn't "fit" in with his history. It's not the rightful end to his quest. It isn't "right". Doesn't matter, Rudo. In Brock's mind he's satisfied with what happened (See: Opening Promo- Sand Diego SmackDown). Brock is also delusional... see, "I did not tap out" The ENTIRE SHOW was built around Benoit's dream to WIN THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP... and he could not beat Lesnar. Lesnar doesn't care anymore, Benoit's "not in his league" remember? From Brock's POV, there's no reason to give Benoit a rematch, no desire for one, Brock has nothing to prove. So why is Heyman protecting him from Benoit???

So why should you have your standards kept high every single time when you KNOW you are gunna get let down? 1)I expect them to fuck up - all the time -, so "being let down" is not a problem. 2)I don't look at it like "it could be worse" - I'm not like you. I don't look at "Well, he could be fighting Rhyno on Heat" - because, quite frankly, that's giving the WWE too much credit. You're letting them get away with giving you a substandard product, and justifying it with the worst possible product. I look at it like "Well, he could have been fighting Brock at Royal Rumble" - which would have been such a good feud. Those are pretty reasonable standards, if you ask me, since they already positioned themselves that way and they had history RIGHT THERE for them to use. Too many times to count for myself. And don't think they couldn't think of a decent storyline for HHH/Benoit...they've got 2 months. Again "decent"? What would a "decent" storyline entail? Does Benoit deserve "decent"? Especially when there's a "good" storyline on Smackdown already established.
-
I disagree. If anything Benoit's angry because he knows he CAN beat Lesnar, but he hasn't been able to prove it yet. Brock won that match via TKO in a submission. He beat Benoit, Benoit did not beat him. Benoit mad ehim tap twice when it didn't matter, but he couldn't get the job done when it did. Lesnar was the better man that night, as he rose to the occaision and got the job done. The only saving grace for Benoit was that he didn't tap, but that's (at best) a phyrric victory. Benoit (and Heyman said it himself) just got really close. No, Lesnar did not "beat" Benoit - Lesnar said he'd make Benoit tap, he did not. Lesnar said he would never tap, he did. Lesnar couldn't pin Benoit with his F-5 and had to use a chair to put Benoit down. Lesnar got the "win", but he did not "beat" Benoit... thought this was already established??? Besides he needed help from instant fucking replay AND the Big Show to get by John Cena who had his number that night twice. Yeah, and Cena has been booked better since that Smackdown as well... fucking WWE.

If enjoying the products means lowering your standards to a, quite frankly, pathetic place such as "As long as he get's the title" and not considering the circumstances inwhich he holds it, the mods should be in here; supressing the opinions of those who stand for such things. You're thirsty, they piss in your mouth and you're saying "well, as long as it's wet". Get some respectible standards, man.
-
So it's your basic "You're not in my league" HHH feuds.. yeah, THOSE go so well.
-
Yeah sure, let's have Benoit's big - 15+ year career - be capped off by (a title win) not coming close to living up to its potential... YEAH! The gold around his waist will do just fine! *mumbles something under breath* *something about various posters being complacent dumbfucks.*
-
HHH: I want Orton, Vince, Mania, me and him, the kids going to be a big star and I want to help him out by beating him - I mean, giving him a huge rub - at the showcase of the immortals. Vince: Sure, son. *HHH see's how little Orton is getting over* HHH: On second thought, that Cena feller is gettin pretty hot, I think we should step him up to the big time and uh, give him a shot at the strap, ya know? Have him come close, real close, put him up in my league... I win, of course, cause he's still pretty rough around the edges, I don't think his rap stuff is main event calibre, but I think I could take him and make him Vince. Vince: Sure, Son. Boy, you sure are selfless, helping these kids out and whatnot... the Rock wouldn't even touch these guys. *Chris Benoit enters room* Benoit: Hey, how's it goin? I was wondering when I'm getting that title shot you guys are settin up in the storylines. Vince: Huh? Benoit: You know, the one with me and Brock? *Vince looks at HHH with a confused look on his face, HHH shrugs* Vince: Heh, well Chris, um, you will get that title shot.. only it won't be a title shot... and it won't be against Brock... but, um... let's see... oh hey, how about Randy Orton? That kid has real potential and I think you can bring it out of him... *HHH nods with approval* *Benoit mumbles something under his breath* Vince: Is there a problem Chris. Benoit: No sir.. It's just, that guy, he's hopeless... HHH: How can you say that about a potential young superstar - he's the next rock dammit! If I weren't so concerned with burying John Cena - I mean, working with John Cena - I'd be putting Orton over right now, hell I am! Evolution is the biggest thing ever. Orton is over-as-hell.. You just don't want to work with the young fellas Chris, you just wanna be in the spotlight all the time and never contribute to the future of this business... I toldya dad, this guy is selfish... Vince: I see it so clearly now...

I can't really think of one, good, possible storyline for Benoit/HHH. "I've always wanted to win that title... ever since I, uh, dropped it so I could go to the WWE.. I mean, I've always wanted that title, ever since I was a little boy, and by that I mean a grown man in 2002 when it was given to you HHH. Grr!" - Chris Benoit
-
Does it even matter anymore that the title was started in 2002? Since then it has became the primary title on Raw and is seen by most fans as an equivalent to the WWE Title. Ok, you asked why people are going crazy. Part of *my* reason is that because I don't see the WCW title as being equal. I would venture to say that I'm not alone in this regard. Fuck "most people" you wanted to know why the people here were going crazy. Agreed. But it doesn't seem like that is bother people, just the fact that Benoit would go over HHH instead of Brock. I care about good matches. I really enjoyed Benoit/Brock I, a lot more than HHH/Benoit I - and that was when HHH was supposedly having the greatest year ever . This is not the sole reason that I don't like HHH/Benoit, but it is definitely a factor, as a lot of Benoits appeal are in his matches. Also true, but I was talking about why the hypothetical situation of Benoit WINNING the title was so horrible. Because Benoit WINNING the title might not be Benoit getting PUT OVER HHH. As in, tons of interference, someone turning on HHH, etc. etc. anything that takes away from Benoit winning... To be fair, Goldberg had more working against going into his win than Benoit would. Goldberg was signed for the purpose of being, at one point, World Champion. His was signed specifically as an opponent for HHH. I don't see this "going against" him. Goldberg was one of the biggest superstars of the late 90's as well as one of the last remaining "stars" for Vince to sign (last remaining "trump card" for him to play). Benoit is a guy who is under 6ft tall, never played football, doesn't particularly have "the look", whose promos aren't very "Rock-like", and who they have dropped the ball with time, and time, and time again, not to mention had established himself in WCW before entering the WWE... now, please tell me how Goldberg was at a bigger disadvantage. The only thing HHH could say to get out of jobbing to him was "uh, he doesn't work house shows". He couldn't get out of it, though he prolonged it as long as possible, and then he just got Goldie to get beat up a lot by Evolution and look like a pussy...

Foley is the best promo-man that I have ever heard. The whole montage for the RR00 match gives me goosebumps whenever I see it. Foley definitely brings emotion to his matches. As for *in* the match, I can't recall anything in particular that he does that makes him stand-out as leader of the pack. I found/find Hogan to be a great dramatist, I enjoy Kenta Kobashi's selling and to another end of the spectrum Toshiaki Kawada's - both, in their own way, bring emotion to their matches. I'd put those 3 above Foley, in terms of in-ring drama.

4)It sure did help out Goldberg by beating the "unstoppable" HHH and finally ending his reign of title terror... .... ... .. .
-
Of course. It just doesn't help Jericho out when one guy can do what he couldn't.
-
1) HHH's title is a fantasy title. The real lineage is with Brock. Benoit has already "won" the WCW title, and gave it up. The real prize is the WWE title. 2)The match of Benoit vs. Brock is MUCH better than Benoit vs. HHH. 3)Brock doesn't have the power HHH has. Benoit has a better chance of winning against and being "put over" Brock than he does with HHH. HHH can pull a Booker T and keep the title while Benoit moves down for an epic feud with Christian...
-
I thought it was to stay strong for Goldberg at Bad Blood then he decided he didn't want to work with Goldberg at Bad Blood. Nah, Meltzer says it's cause HHH didn't wanna.
-
Edge has stopped writing commentaries on WWE.com, why 'dya think that is??? And he did it around Survivor Series time; just about when the WWE makes their Mania plans... Coincidence??? Hmmmmmm????
-
What's great is that the reason HHH didn't lose the belt, "he didn't feel like it"
-
Yeah, Benoit was the last of the "next 3" to get pinned by HHH. The highlight of the feud was Benoit headbutting Steph - infact, HHH was positioned as a solid face here before he turned heel in the Austin Accident saga.
-
I'm expecting for Benoit to walk into the Rumble match, with his lil arms moving up and down in the air, army pants and a black singlet on, his shaved head glistening in the lights, a rough beard forming on his face, and as he enters the ring some big hoss throws him right back out.
-
Yeah, kinda like how they wouldn't have the racist white guy win either...
