    Raw Rating for 12/29/03

The avg RAW rating, for the most part, is considered to be 3.8 with a +/- 0.2 - this is in that range. However, for the big, epic, world title match, not to mention following the 'big' cliffhanger, as well as the fate of Steve Austin, getting an "average" rating should be considered disappointing.

    Scott Keith gave HHH/HBK ****3/4

    1) Why in the fuck do you care if someone "rated" a match more than you think they should've? Do you live and breathe by other's ratings of matches? Do some of you actually believe on some sort of "universial rating star scale", and that the match can ONLY be rated what you yourself deem it to be? 1. It prompts discussion. And looking back at this post, it certainly did. Of course, you're the guy who feels opinions can't be questioned, so *throws hands up in the air*, I can't really say anything to change that... People can rate matches whatever they want, I don't really care, I just want to know the reasons behind the ratings - what made the match good. So far, all I'm seeing is "OMG HBK IS THE AWEZOME! ****3/4" 2) If two people put on a great fantastic match, which just about everyone here will admit to, what in the living fuck does it matter what the two guys do backstage? Just as before, do you live and breathe by what these people do in their personal and business life backstage? Can you not just watch a great match and see it as a great match? Have you been blinded so much by the "reports" that you read that you can't fucking think clearly anymore and take a good match as a good match? We're smarks - that's what we do. There's more to discuss about wrestling than the matches. I don't think any match is being 'downgraded' because of backstage politics, I think that is just an issue being discussed (is it actually being discussed???) - it's a circumstancial factor, it's an interest-point, people here talk about that stuff - always have, always will - you should know that.

MMA New Years Eve (MMA? More like Mmm!)

*Big Laugh* I think they're going for a Fujita thing here, where just making it competitive -unlike his match vs. Cro Cop- will get him over.

*Tunes in to see HHH give HBK a backbreaker.* *See's HBK sell it like it actually means something* *Chuckles to self cause "been there, done that, don't care" and goes back to watching Firefly DVD* I can't imagine this match being anything more than the usual shit. *Reads MrZ's post* *laughs*

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

Well, you'd figure the "true moment of happiness" would have taken place *right* at the moment of birth - which is the 'peak'. But, when Connor was born, you had Holtz chasing them and Darla staking herself; not a lot of time for the joy joy.

    "New" Astroboy trailer 2003 series

The only problem I have with watching Astroboy now, is that it goes by *way* too fast; which is probably why I loved it growing up. When I'm watching it, I just want to say "sloooow dooown, explain yourself a lil bit more."

    WWE - Positives of 2003

A midcard title with no value is retarded as well. Infact, when a worker like Booker T or RVD or Eddie Guerrero holds a midcard title when they shouldn't - this says to the crowd "they're not worth it; they are not at the ME level". So really, when used like that (and it often is) a midcard title is damaging.

    WWE - Positives of 2003

But fighting for the IC title *is* fighting for nothing - it has no worth, no value. It means nothing and it doesn't do anything. The WWE still sucks dick, even with the titles, and they didn't suck dick because they didn't have the midcard titles last year; they sucked dick because they sucked dick. They sucked dick when they had a dozen titles, or when they had 6 or 7; they simply do not know how to use titles effectively nor do they want to put the effort in. They don't know how to use the midcard properly. They only care about the guys on top and the McMahons.

    WWE - Positives of 2003

"Jeez, you people have been whining for YEARS about Benoit not getting a title run and here he gets it and you still complain that it's short and he needed the help of 23 guys to help put Brock away and that he lost it to Shane McMahon. If that won't please you, what will?" OR "It could have been worse; he may have never held the title at all. He could have lost it to Linda McMahon. He could have had 30 guys help him."

That's ridiculous AS. FIRST, Steph will face Matt Morgan just for the possibility to be back on Smackdown. Then, through a wacky turn of events involving the FBI, Benoit will come out for the save (thus ruining their gambling ring, and getting revenge for their beatdowns). So Stephanie becomes Benoits much-anticipated Manager (as people have been longing for Benoit to get a mouthpiece; the two usual suspects are Anderson and Heyman... so of course, much like in 00, a McMahon fills that role). Thus leading to the Heyman/Benoit match which Steph cleverly sets up through her mother, Linda McMahon. THEN your situation happens. See, you have to build the match and you need more Steph on TV to make it interesting. After Benoit gets in the rumble, Heyman places a bounty of $15 on his head (because a)Heyman does not have as much money as HHH and b)Benoit is not worth as much as goldberg), and Benoit gets eliminated by, say, Zach Gowen (they eliminate each other, actually, much like Benoit/Cena) and Zach stays in because of his one leg (this is his big heel turn, as he feigns trying to win the rumble to get a shot at Brock and instead collects the bounty on Benoits head - Gowen is the newest member of the Dangerous Alliance... this is Heymans psychological attack on Steph, as Gowen was her soul-saving project.) Steph then challenges Paul to a match to regain her GMship, but first she must fight Zach Gowen, blah blah blah, Benoit runs in, she gets her GMship back and puts Benoit in a title shot vs. Brock at No Way Out. However, Benoit doesn't want Brock, he wants Gowen first. So Gowen and Benoit fight at NWO were Gowen beats Benoit w. Brocks help (the moral here is that Steph can beat Zach, so can Vince, but Benoit can't). Steph books Brock vs. Benoit on the smackdown before Mania - cause Benoit can't headline Mania... and books herself vs. Brock at Mania instead. However, HHH comes out and says "Steph, I love you" and Steph puts HHH in her place where they unify the Smackdown and Raw titles. Benoit, naturally, loses to Brock before Mania... with the help of HHH - because HHH doesn't want to fight Benoit, he wants to fight a "real" challenge; like Lesnar. So HHH beats Brock at Mania - unifies the titles - and Benoit is mad at HHH costing him the match, so HHH vs. Benoit happens at Backlash (the first smackdown wrestler on a raw show) and HHH beats Benoit - so Benoit goes back to smackdown to face Lesnar at Judgement day where he finally gets his big win for the new Smackdown title... and then quickly loses it to Smackdowns newest superstar, Shane McMahon, 10 seconds after winning it..

    Randy Orton

We know the cunt is coming back so why not fucking use her for something GOOD for a change and have her be the catylist for Benoit's title shot? Because then it will be... Heyman: Damn you Stephanie McMahon, I will make it my lifes work - as the Agent of Brock Lesnar - to make your life a living hell. Then we'll have months of Stephanie getting wrestlers to challenge Brock - the first of whom is Benoit, who will lose. Cause the first person representing Steph can't win; it has to be someone big like the Rock.... or maybe a returning Edge.

That's actually a good idea AS. I say "actually" not in the way that I'm surprised that you came up with it, but because that actually would be fitting for such a crappy feud. I'm shocked you still have ANY hope left. I don't. None. Gone. Benoit is fucked. He'll never get it. He'll never get it. He'll never get it. It won't happen. It won't happen. It won't happen. Fuck the WWE. Fuck Vince Mcmahon. Benoit is stuck in mid card hell and will never get out. No hope. No hope. No hope. "Let me tell you something my friend. Hope is a dangerous thing. Hope can drive a man insane." - RavishingRickRed

    WWE - Positives of 2003

The only consolation that I have about Angle/Brock is that we might (MIGHT) see it in Benoit/Brock. Benoit vs. Brock from Smackdown, IMO, was significantly better than any of the Angle/Brock matches and they haven't totally botched the fundamentals of the feud (they just have ignored it for the past few weeks... fuckholes).

    WWE - Positives of 2003

It's not about being worse, it's about being better. Therein lies the fundamental difference between you and I downhome (can't speak for AS, though I think he'd agree) regarding the WWE. Angle/Brock could have been a helluvalot better and had more potential than Al Wilson or Katie Vick. This makes them being "bad" more painful.

The winner (really, anyone with a successful score) gets to say whatever the fuck he/she wants to say about any given angle without having someone say "You can't say that, it never happened yet, give it a chance".

Are ya sure? Cause the concept of "HHH fucks a doll simulating Kane and Katie Vick" had only so much potential (see, none), while Angle/Brock was actually something people looked forward to and had high hopes for.

    Bane & Seven from OVW

Yeah, "Hello" by Fertig was funny, cause someone actually put the effort in creating the poster Fertig - but then after that, it was no longer funny. The novelty wore off, if you will. But for a good 5 pages Tomko and Fertig was the hottest thing going.

    New Raven Column

But Crowd Heat can be effected by external factors - hometown, big return, cheap heat before the match, etc - all of which can be independant of the match itself. Hell, if you had 50 Cent vs. Ja Rule in a wrestling match, infront of a crowd of hip hop fans, and they proceed to do nothing but punch and pander, the crowd will still go fucking balistic despite the match sucking.
