Er, I'm a Hogan fan too. I'll get a digital picture of me in my "Hulk Still Rules" shirt and bandana to prove it. Any true Hogan fan wouldn't have bought that abomination of a shirt. I'll bring out a picture of my "Real American" shirt that-I-don't-quite-think-was-really-an-"official"-shirt-as-it-looked-cheaply-made-but-that-doesn't-matter-cause-it-was-representing-Hulk-FUCKING-Hogan-and-it-was-19FUCKING1-and-shit-back-then-was-real, not some purely-for-profit-capitalizing-on-hogans-popularity-bullshit that was "Hulk Still Rules". I meant your comment about the Japan thing with wrestling. Nothing about what you said with Hogan. Hogan would never wrestle in Japan.

WWE plans "Escape the Rules" ad campaign
RavishingRickRudo replied to DerangedHermit's topic in The WWE Folder
World Wrestling Entertainment Launches New Ad Campaign for WWE SmackDown!; $2 Million Multimedia 'Smack Your TV' Initiative over Next 4 Months Designed to Attract New Viewers STAMFORD, Conn., Nov 17, 2003 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- With its eye on the prize of greater television ratings and record-setting pay-per-view buys for its WrestleMania XX, WWE has developed a new "Smack Your TV" ad campaign to support its flagship program on network television, WWE SmackDown! (9 p.m. ET/PT on Thursdays on UPN). "SmackDown! is the perfect antidote to the Thursday night primetime line-up of blah, blah," said Kurt Schneider, WWE Executive Vice President, Marketing. "We want to encourage current and potential viewers to 'Smack Your TV' and tune-in to SmackDown!." Beyond having a major impact on the show itself as a tagline and in on-air promos, the multimedia campaign will run in Entertainment Weekly, Sports Illustrated and on AOL's online service until WrestleMania XX on March 14, 2003. Commercials will be seen on Cartoon Network's late night "Adult Swim" programming and in other programs on TNT and TBS. The "Smack Your TV" concept will also be included in all future SmackDown! radio spots. The campaign was developed in-house; the tagline, "Smack Your TV", was created by the Wong Doody ad agency in Seattle. The total media support for the campaign over the next five months is valued at more than $2 million. A separate campaign is in development and will be instituted for WWE Monday Night RAW on Spike TV (9 p.m. ET/PT, Mondays). Both RAW and SmackDown! have seen a ratings resurgence of late among male viewers, and have recently delivered their highest ratings in nearly a year for male teens and other key young male demographics. RAW has consistently been the top-rated regularly schedule program on basic cable for several years. SmackDown! has also been a solid ratings performer for UPN, and this season ranks in the top 10 regularly scheduled broadcast primetime programs among Male Teens and Males 12-24. WWE continues to see strong advertising demand, with more than 125 companies that advertise in our programming on cable, syndicated, and network TV. Sell-out rates are well over 90%. -
To be fair, Heat gets about 25% of the WWE's audience - which means 1 in 4 WWE fans saw it. That's hardly "nobody".

Gimmick? What the fuck are you talking about? Oh, I guess actually DEFENDING the EVIL MONSTER Hulk Hogan can't be done here in dirtsheetville so it *must* be a gimmick. Like one can't rationally defend Hogan's perfectly rational actions. Go troll somewhere else troll, your trolling is not wanted here.

Ahem, Vader even called himself a fat piece of shit, THANK you. Japan? Sorry little man, but we only talk about REAL wrestling here - not some kung fu wakisake. Yeah, that's right, you were RudOWNED.

Is Corporate Banky listed on the stock exchange? And if so, under what symbol??
-
Oh that whacky couple, what hijinx will they get into next? RAW X was the best the WWE could have done with their millions of dollars and months of planning and hype, so BACK OFF, your expectations were obviously too high. Why do you even watch?

Why end it at Starrcade? Well, Starrcade was WCW's version of WrestleMania... Stop being stupid. WCW and the WWE were two completely different places. If the blow-off were to happen at Starrcade you'd just have people bitching about how Hogan MADE Starrcade like he MADE Wrestlemania and how he was trying to make WCW like the WWE - Hogan wanted WCW to be its own company and stand on its own ground on its own two feet. He knew that Sting/Hogan had legs that could go well beyond 1997. He was doing the best for the company. Besides, he was hip to the current wrestling scene and new that CONTROVERSY was the way to go - he was attitude before the catchphrase.

WCW: Ooops, we mean WWE. -
Sigh, I have to clearify EVERYTHING around here... Hogan so far: - killed curt hennig's push. I actually have a mathc on wrestlefest'90 between the 2. Which led to Curt lighting up the IC division with Bret Hart a year later - putting Bret over as a legitimate singles competitor. Hennig clearly wasn't ready for a ME push and was much better suited in the midcard... - killed jake roberts main event push when jake got a face reaction after ddting hogan back on his old segment. Of course. Jake Roberts on top would have ruined the business - the guy looks like a used car salesman. No way that could = money. And the SNAKE? My GOD, what a horrible influence on children. It would give them nightmares. Jake belonged in the midcard. He's the Rikishi of his day, with better promos. - never did biz for bret in '93 while at the same time stealing yoko's heat at wm9. Which got a bigger pop than anything on the card! NOT TO MENTION he totally put over Yoko at the King of the Ring THUS *making* that event important right away. As for Bret, they stylistically don't match - even visually, it's not a good fit. Hogan works better as the underdog rising up - the american hero. Bret was Canadian - the feud would have turned him heel and killed off any of his likable aspects... really, it was the best. Besides, without Hogan sending down Hennig, Bret probably never would have been in that position in the first place... - got up immediately after vader's powerbomb in '94, killing the move in the process. Dude, did you ever hear of the world ADRENALINE. Shit, you guys just pick things apart to hate... Vader couldn't even make it in the WWF for crying out loud! He's just a fat piece of shit. - turned heel so he could ride nash and hall's wave of popularity in '96 since they pretty much made it clear they wouldn't job to broken down hogan in the first place. You're right. Hogan did nothing for the NWO. - brought back Piper in '97 just to get himself more main events. Oh, so Hogan is evil for holding down poor widdle jakey snakey and curty worty, but he can't bring up a LEGEND like Roddy Piper? Holy Hypocrisy batman! Hogan was just looking out for his fellow-wrestler, completely selfless - but he can't do that, oh no! He's EVIL and only thinks about himself! DAMN HIM! - brought back warrior in '98 so he could get the job he did in '90 back. It was a natural progression. That's what happens in FEUDS, wrestlers trade wins. - killed the dream match of the 80s, flair/hogan, when he refused to go along the program of wm8, opting for sid/hogan instead (sid also had a clause in his contract that gave him a wm main event, btw). Dream match of the 80's IN THE 90'S! Hogan knew that Hogan/Flair could never work out well simply because it was too late to do it. So he did Vince a favour and gave Sid a rub at Mania so Sid wouldn't complain and... the rest is history. - killed bret hart's push in wcw by getting him to join the nwo instead of the wcw faction. Please, Bret Hart was DOA in WCW - everyone knew that. Hogan saw that and wanted Bret at his side so he could be as protected as possible. When you ride with the Hulkster, everything is cool. The NWO was edgy and Hogan knew Bret was a lil too old fashioned and square and wouldn't fit in - so he put the black and white on him and he was mr cool. - killed sting's push in '97 after the "fast count" at starrcade. IT WAS THE HOTTEST ANGLE GOING FOOL! Why end it at Starrcade?! God, don't you know ANYTHING about booking? - never really lost to sting in clear fashions. Always leaving something open - just in case. That's SMART. It allows both men to play a trump card whenever they need it. - beat ric flair all of '94, just b/c he could. Hogan just came into the promotion and needed to make a statement. Geez, people here complain all the time how the Invasion failed because Vince wouldn't let the WCW guys go over any of his top WWF guys. It's what they had to do to make an impact - geez, more hypocrisy. Big Surprise.

I don't mind them working wrestlers backgrounds (infact, they should do it more often), but when it's "well, he's black, let's make him from Harlem... or some part of Africa" or "He's Asian, and since they all look alike we can get away with making him Japanese" or "He speaks French, so he's from France", then it gets borderline racist.

Which was the pilot - the only firefly episode I saw (and liked) was the first one they aired up here on SPACE which has Spoiler (Highlight to Read): The young girl getting shot, the reverend releasing the "cop", the "cop" getting shot immediately by Caleb after taking someone hostage (which was AWESOME btw). So if that's the show you're talkin bout Rip, definitely rent that one first and see if you like it.

Very courteous AND honest. Something that the WWE certainly is not, but should aspire to be. "And Now, a public service announcement from the WWE." *White background* *The Rock walks out* *Looks at the screen* "What the hell are you doin still watchin this show? Jesus Christ man, you CRAZY? Here, let's look and see what's on here" *Rock picks up remote control* *Screen/Station changes* *Rock narrates* "See, the Discovery Channel! You can learn stuff about African Rhinos and Canadian Elk. Or how about Will and Gracie? Oh that Jack, will he EVER learn? Ok, here we go, now we're talkin - SEINFELD RE-RUNS! Ooooh this is season 6 - a gem. Look, look, look! George is at the table, and, and... YES! The golfball! Look at Kramers face! Oh MAN, you're just stupid to watch our show!" *Screen changes to the Rock* "So there ya go, be like The Rock and ditch this pop-stand before they drag you down with em" *Star flys across screen*

Which is why the rumour about the WWE signing the Survivor Wrestling fan has me a bit puzzled as well - "You know, when I was on Survivor, I annoyed a lot of people but it was all for a good time" "Hey, that reminds me, Survivor is on!" - Fan. "Oh, this is just like when Chandler caught Rachel naked in the shower and Monica came in and then Joey said "Mama Mia!" - Michael Cole on Billy Gunn, Torrie Wilson and Jamie Knoble, Nidia love square.

Stephanie On Wayne Brady; RAW MSG Card

Because he gets to wrestle on live TV. He loves the thrill of wrestling without a net.. "Sunday Night Heat taping. Matt Hardy pinned Maven with the twist of fate.Hardy was mostly cheered." -
Hmm, now everything is starting to make sense. Smashmouth = Bad Band from late 90's. Smashmouth Wrestling = Bad Wrestling from late 90's.

*wipes tear from eye* I know, I almost had me there for a second... whew... -
WHAT? Just because I replaced my Rampage avatar with a Silva one right after Silva beat Rampage does NOT make me a fairweather fan. The Winners just happen to be the best fighters. I appreciate their skill.

So Smackdown has "Smack your TV" and Raw has "Escape the Rules" - sounds kinda like those "Unbelievable" commercials, with the old lady, and the baby with the blocks... God, this means months and months of these tag lines getting shoved down our throats. Maybe they should be more worried about delivering a quality product and pleasing the fans they have and prevent them from leaving rather than appealing to "new fans" and have them watch - and then immediately turn off - your bad show.... -
Tito is OLD NEWS! 'Boy got spanked and cried like a baby. Sheeit. Now, if it were Randy Couture and Kurt Angle... that's a different story. RRR: Only Cheers Winners

Why haven't you changed your sig yet? -
Again, I state: "Bah, even though the "Benoit can't get his title shot" puts focus on his quest, it still has been done, just last year, with Brock Lesnar. This will either lead to Steph coming back and giving Benoit the title shot leading to Steph vs. Paul Heyman taking the spotlight away from Benoit vs. Brock, OR.. ah fuck OR, that's exactly what is going to happen. FUCK." They should have opened Smackdown with _Benoit_ coming out and calling out Brock.

Now, I'm a fan of the newsletters and "dirt sheets", but this is news?? Anyone could have come up with this based on: - The Rundown not living up to expectations - The Rock coming back for Mania

C'mon now, had Hogan not worked with Vader we never would have seen them fight on Baywatch... really, Vader AND Flair owe their careers to the Hulkster. /REAL Hogan Mark (Traitor)
