Curry, Vince McMahon didn't invent Pro Wrestling, silly. He just brought it out of the smoke-filled bars and back-lit alleys and into arenas and added music and glitz and glamour that hadn't been there before.

GOOD IDEA! You see this Goldberg? Do you see it? That's right, BLACK SOCKS with BLACK PANTS! Next time you want to get fancy, remember you'll have to pay the price. *WWE Management is said to be concerned with the appearance of many of its superstars in hotels and around the arena. There have been many reported incidences of wrestlers and staff wearing white socks with black pants which is considered to be a big no-no in Stamford. In fact, word was going around the locker room that if Vince McMahon spots someone with white socks and black pants, he'd fire them right then and there. This sort of behaviour has been consistent with McMahons temperamental state as of late and one wrestler told me "Now I have to change my socks?? This is getting out of hand. If a few more things like this happens, there's going to be a lot of pissed off workers".* -

No, but it IS comparable to a movie exec telling an actor that you don't look right for the job and we won't cast you until you fix or change certain things about your appearance. Actors have a union. I don't really know what that means in relation to tats, but it does empower them somewhat in regards to getting hired and discrimination. I was referring to the possibility of a lawsuit. The talent that would try and sue could EASILY be described as not being profitable by the WWE and nobody could claim otherwise. Ok. So talent sues because the WWE didn't hire them because of their tats. The WWE sez that Tats are not marketable and therefore not profitable so the talent was not worth picking up... despite Brock and Rocks tattoos being on shirts. I just can't stand them. Heck, I'd kill for the NBA to ban cornrows (has there been a worse hair style EVER? And I'm sure it isn't marketable.) and for the NFL to do away with dreads (you'd think Ricky Williams would cut his after being tackled BY HIS HAIR more than a few times) --- but it won't happen. I don't think there's any hairstyle that I can't stand... on guys, at least. Tattoos are way too permanent - hair can be changed. -
Angle is being protected because of his neck and you really wanted Bradshaw in the main event of Smackdown? Benoit is a midcarder. He's going to be jobbed out sometimes and be "punked" out and he's not going anywhere anytime soon as reported by the Torch. LIIIIIEESSSSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think they could do a 16 man tourny: 1. Herring 2. Fedor 3. Coleman 4. Nogueira 5. Cro Cop 6. Fujita 7. Takayama 8. Goodridge 9. Sapp 10. Ricco 11. Sylvia 12. Arlovski 13. Mir 14. Rizzo 15. Barnett 16. Frye/Igor/McGee/anyone However, that would be 8 fights in one event - no superfights. Then 4, 2, 1 - 3 fights in one night. Not very practical - esp. with heavies.. Coleman Fedor Cro Cop Nog I think these 4 are guaranteed. Fujita Herring Takayama These 3 would be likely. Sapp Sylvia Ricco These are "Maybes"

That's the idea. Usually when someone is injured to the point that they're not attempting to fight nor are they attempting to defend themselves, it's time for the ref to step in. Bobish wasn't even looking at Garry when he came at him. He was looking and yelling at the referee while pointing to his eye. But he could have defended himself. He was just looking for a "time out", when the ref didn't give it to him Goodridge advanced and Bobish looked confused. Oh, I get it. So even if a fighter loses vision in his eye, he should just "suck it up and DEAL with it" because that's what fighters do. Would you have Bobish keep fighting if his eye had popped out like Vader's? Is that the type of thing we should expect fighters to deal with? The damage to Vaders eye could have been clearly seen by the ref. This was just Bobish pointing to his eye. In Goodridges fight with Fedor, he was obviously injured and couldn't fight back - Fedor continued his assault until Gary fell to the ground and covered up. That's the universal sign for "I give up" - Bobish should have done that. He didn't. He wanted a time out. I have no idea what Bobish's injury actually was, or if it was an injury at all. However, I highly doubt that letting Goodridge light up his face helped the problem. It was great risk to Bobish's safety and shouldn't have been allowed to happen. "Great risk" oh my. I know you would have rather seen Bobish ignore his injury and continue fighting until Garry finished him off, but in doing that he could be putting himself to serious risk of furthering his injury. Is it really smart for a fighter to keep fighting even if he has no chance of winning and only risks shortening his career and well-being further? It's really not smart at all. But, we expect them to do it anyway, don't we? Uh, yeah. They're fighters. They accept that risk when they step in the ring.

The same could be said about leg kicks. Should someone using only leg kicks be called for stalling too? If that's all they did without setting up another shot? Maybe. Functionally, leg kicks standing are more dangerous than rib shots on the ground. Don Frye vs. Mark Hall UFCX, for example, was all rib shots on the ground and Big John never stood it up... it was BORING. Also it wasn't rampage who was accused of stalling - it was Silva. So it was really one guy throwing leg kicks and the other guy doing nothing with them. The ref stood the fight up; it wasn't a detriment to Rampage because he had a position to finish the fight - it was a detriment cause he was tired and was content with laying on the ground to pound away at Silvas ribs/ How many times did Sakuraba go for the triangle? I remember several very long stretched during the first two rounds where neither he (nor Kevin) did much of anything. I think those periods of time lasted longer than the time Silva and Jackson spent on the mat. I'd have to watch the fight again, but IIRC Sakuraba was pretty constant in his guard work trying to work the triangle or at least, work his way towards the triangle. Had Jackson been trying to advance his position, the ref wouldn't have stood it up. Furthermore, just because a certain strategy doesn't aim to finisher the fighter in a single hold or strike doesn't mean it shouldn't be allowed. Again, leg kicks have proven a very effective means towards winning a fight, and so have body punches. Just because they don't aim at winning the fight quickly doesn't mean they should be thrown into the same category as stalling. 1. Effort to finish by KO or submission: *Fighters who are striking with force and intention that may result in a KO will be awarded in this criteria*, that applies both standing and on the ground. "Catch" or near submissions, as well as multiple attempts will score in this criteria. 2. Damage: Any strike that does damage or accumulations of strikes that result in damage are awarded here. **Damage may be visible such as a cut or bruised leg, or it may be shown by an opponent's reaction to a strike such as favoring a leg that has been kicked or turning away from a body shot.** A near submission may also result in damage points. 3. Standing combinations and ground control: When a fighter lands a skillful combination of strikes while standing, they are awarded this criteria. Ground control is awarded by achieving dominant positions and holding them. **Dominant positions are side control, mount, back mount with hooks, knee ride, and north-south.** Neutral positions are standing and in guard. *Fighters are encouraged to strive for dominant position throughout the fight.* 5. Aggressiveness: The fighter who is pressing the action while standing, *seeking dominant position on the ground and working to finish the match*, will score here. - Matt Humes explanation of Judging Criteria Negative points - yellow cards: When the fighters are fighting as demanded by the criteria, there is no need for interference from referees or judges. However, when a fighter is not fighting in this manner, then he may receive a yellow card penalty. The fighters are encouraged to engage and strike or attempt takedowns when standing, by the referee's command of "action." When on the ground, fighters are encouraged to seek dominant positions, forced reversals or return to the feet by the referee's command of "improve position." When in a dominant position, a fighter is encouraged to finish by effective striking or submission by the referee's command of "work to finish." If either fighter does not obey the command and actively seek dominant positions and finishes, they may receive a yellow card, which will result in a negative point deduction. Any intentional fouls or unsportsmanlike conduct may also result in a yellow card and negative point. -Matt Humes explanation on Yellow Cards Exciting fights are good, but fighters who chose to use less-exciting methods of winning shouldn't be penalized. JACKSON WASN'T PENALIZED! *Silva* got the Yellow card. Jackson just got stood up BECAUSE he, nor Silva, was advancing the fight on the ground. It would have allowed Jackson the opportunity to wear down Silva with punches. Silva has a nice guard, but I doubt he could have prevented Jackson from getting some strikes to the head, and the body shots would add up as well. But that is ALL that was done. When the ref says "Action" you either do more or you don't. They didn't. Not only that, but it would prevent Silva from getting such a quick victory. Jackson was smart to take Silva down, but he didn't get rewarded for his strategy because the ref undercut him. He didn't get rewarded because he didn't take advantage of the situation and didn't finish the fight on the ground. Silva finished the fight Standing. He won. That, and "what if Silva, too, had been gassed from Rampage pounding on him." The fight certainly would have turned out differently. Silva wasn't. Rampages punches didn't have nearly the "umph" as his earlier against Liddell. He was tiring, Silva wasn't hurt at all. Silva took Cro Cops liver kick and kept on fighting in top form - dispite Mirko foot imprinted on his ribs.

Because Bradshaw has no heat and John would probably get a pop for attacking him and Kurt is the one that brought Cena into the fold. Holly just got back and has the same problems that Bradshaw would. Benoit as surley guy with heat was the perfect person to get over that they might not be able to trust Cena. It's not like Cena beat him or something clean in the middle ... he just suckered him in despite Benoit trying to show him some respect. Which by the characters of the two men is totally appropriate. There are still OTHER WAYS TO ESTABLISH THAT! I don't see why someone had to lose that much for someone else to gain very little. Benoit looks like a total schmuck. They finished the show with the image of Benoit on the ground and Cena over him - that's worse than being pinned (which they've already done to Benoit with Cena during push #1). As far as Ultimo is concerned, tapping to the Haas of Pain is not like tapping to a headlock so that's no big deal to me. The fact that he took the loss instead of Funaki is fine as well if they have him carrying most of the action in the match and WGTT just worked him over. That totally depends on the story that the match tells and neither one of us has an idea of what that is. On paper alone, Ultimo teaming with Funaki is bad. They might as well have him wear a "Jobber" sign. Then he is seen as the weaker link by tapping - Does Dragon need to pay dues now? Is Funaki getting a big push sometime soon?? Unless the story of the match was Funaki getting injured at the beginning of the match and Ultimo having to fight Team Angle all by himself then him tapping is fucking bullshit.
-
He's a patsy. He totally got punked by Cena. Why not Kurt Angle or Bradshaw?? He still has an issue with Angle, and Bradshaw doesn't need to be protected. Cena is a guy who has lost to Lesnar, Taker, Guerrero, Angle - and he gets the best of Benoit?? Fuck that. They could have done it in other ways without hurting Benoit. Ultimo *tapped* to Haas. He was teaming with *Funaki*. This basically says "Dragon is at level or worse than Funaki".

.... Aaaaand? Let me put it into perspective. *At the time* I had relatively no idea who Darla was - I was a fan of Buffy, but certainly did not have the, let's say, "resources" that I do now. You know the show where they play with Angels head and Darla says she's another person?? That fucked with me too. There was a lot of shit going on in it, the world was in chaos, and the one solid rock you were supposed to lean on - the hero - was not so secure. The one person you know who will come through in the end and that you could cheer, was faltering. So it was frustrating to get through the shows. I didn't have the same relationship with Gunn, Cordy, and Wes that I do now - Gunn was pretty foreign, Wes was fun but still the nerd, and Cordy was just vision girl. That's not a great support system. The scene where Angel lets Holland die, that was fucking INSANE... and I mean this all in a GOOD WAY because that's what they meant to do. They meant to frustrate you, they meant to create a world of chaos. Now, as I look back, it's more "fun" than frustrating to see how they build the show and knowing where they are going plus having that relationship with the characters, but at the time - shit, I was like "WHY ARE THEY DOING THIIIIISS!!!!" - so yeah, call that markish behaviour if you want... -
Fun little match with Haas making Ultimo DRagon tap to the "Haas of PAin" SWEET! Can't wait until they make Dragon look like a bitch!
-
You're not supposed to believe that Holly can beat Brock - you're supposed to believe that Holly will be on a suicide mission where winning and losing doesn't matter; it's all about who will inflict the most damage. Personally, I would have Holly DQ himself at SS while taking out Brock, then in their 1-on-1 match have Brock destroy Holly. Then for the final match - a no dq/gimmick match - have Brock win that too, but have Holly still come out looking good by "taking a beating".
-
Hey sure, why not, let's put Cena over Benoit and make Benoit look like a total fucking goof.

The wrestlers are Independent contractors - that's like telling a plumber that his outfit is not suitable for the job. Besides, they couldn't make the claim that it's not marketable anyways because one of their biggest superstars (the rock) has sold merch under the basis of his tattoo (the brahma bull), as has Brock Lesnar. Personally, I don't care. I'm not a big tat fan for the reasons Mike listed above (yes, when I'm 60 I'll sure be proud of the *insert cliched tattoo here* I got when I was 21), but this is a bit ridiculous... I'm thinkin Taker is gettin pissed off that so many people are rippin from him, so he's putting a stop to it. -

It still stands - after the bell rings, you can't call time out. If you get injured, you're injured and you lose. The initiated contact, Gary hit Dan, Dan got hurt, Gary capitalized on it. That's what happens in fights; if they hesitate for too long their opponent might recover and end up winning the fight.
