I say just have a board of directors, or a commission, or whatever made up of a bunch of old wrestlers. They set up a ranking system or something where, you know, wrestlers fight to be #1 contender and stuff... for the "special" feuds which go "outside" the rankings, then you have one of those old wrestlers from time-to-time represent the board/commission/whatever to set up the match. Of course, you can't have a random guy doing it - you would have to introduce them all at once and then reference them once-in-a-while.

How many gimmick matches have there been on PPV this year?

WRESTLERS ON PPVS?!?! Oh, you're one of those INTERNET fans. Go back to reading your dirt sheet you INTERNET fan. This is not 1989 any more, this isn't your Grandpa's rasslin, this is Sports Entertainment. Get your head out of the past and see that this is not about "good guys" and "bad guys" anymore, or "Wrestlers" and "Non-wrestlers" - the WWE doesn't want to insult your intelligence - that's why they have McMahon's in the mix.
-
But, But, But WHO WOULD MAKE THE MATCHES!?!

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...
RavishingRickRudo replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Not to mention Karl Gotch helped trained Inoki, Matsuda, Takada, Maeda, Sayama, Fujinami, Fujiwara... who then went on to train their own students. Ok, that's British Influence... -
But I'm talkin bout for PPV's - what the WWE could do in other areas is a whole different... other... area...

He does have a personality and motivation...

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

... I kinda find Bob pretty interesting... The more I read the more I think that... We're just not the same person, you and I... -
YES! Lower the Price! So simple... Though I still wouldn't buy a WWE PPV for $20, maybe for $10 if it was good... The "fighting to be on PPV" thing adds a whole new layer to booking feuds. That's pretty sweet. How about not even having a feuded match headline the PPV? Just the #1 contender vs. the champ.

I would only have World Title Matches on PPV - and *state* that they can only be on PPV. Have non-title matches all the time on Smackdown and Raw, where the champion *can* lose but not lose the belt (build heat on the title match), and then make it for the gold at the big show.

Ok, let's turn this smile into something worthwhile - since the WWE is clearly fucked up and failing like only they can fail - how would YOU turn around PPV sales??? Be more creative than "Better matches, Better storylines"....

See, I tend to take a more optimist stance on this issue since "Benoit loves to work with the Young fellas". He was giving them a chance to prove their worth, he was game and whatever they threw at him he'd take. Some threw hard (Albert), some didn't (Rhyno). If anyone was "dogging it" it was the bookers and the greenboys. I agree, he should have taken an active stance and beat the shit out of them because it would have made for a better match, but how dare I (or YOU) question the ways of the Benoit???

Al Sharpton to Host 'Saturday Night Live'
RavishingRickRudo replied to MrRant's topic in Television & Film
I think he meant that no good could come of Pink as the musical guest. -
It would be better to slow-burn the face turn. As in, not until after Suvivor Series. Have Cena be the black sheep of Team Angle - then on the post SS smackdown, have him come out to save a face from a beat down and start a feud with a heel. Of course, they'll just do it tonight and job him out in the tag match... but whatever. (What they SHOULD do is hint that Cena will save Benoit and Angle, but then have him not... it will be the teamwork and sacrifice he learned at SurvivorSeries that will show him the way to stand-up for what you believe in.)

Heh, this is the only satisfying thing the WWE has done for me in a long time... fail miserably. Oh how jaded we've all become... shame on us...

The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread
RavishingRickRudo replied to Steve J. Rogers's topic in Brandon Truitt
YES! And KATE~! (man was Kate hot... Kate was very, very, very, very, very, very hot) Lindsay is fucking annoying me right now in this Darla love-triangle. He was a good character, though. I don't think I appreciated him enough the first time-round. They better bring him back since he was the first employee of WR&H (show wise) and now that Angel is in charge he should come up in some way. -
Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...

*bashes head against desk* READ WHAT I POSTED! Low Ki is more fun to watch than Ric Flair. -
That's not dogging it. "Dogging it" is not putting an effort in. Benoit was putting an effort in because you could see it in his bumping - he just let the match be carried by the young heels. "Benoit loves to work with the young guys" ...

How is this scary? I find it pretty damn funny.

I should find my FB about Angle and Benoit training with each other.

Question about the "high-flying" style
RavishingRickRudo replied to Silence's topic in General Wrestling
Spots are independant of the story, build and psychology of a match. It doesn't even have to be a highflying move - though many are simply because highflyers generally rely on highflying to get over rather than sound wrestling skills. -

Ric Flair: Greatest worker, wrestler...
RavishingRickRudo replied to Downhome's topic in The WWE Folder
Of all the names Curry put up there (Takayama and Sakuraba - wow, you ARE baked out of your gourd), you chose those 3?? So doing 1 highflying move (which isn't high flying - you could have said his crappy crossbody press) and doing 1 original move (which I think was done before Flair did it) makes someone a highflyer and an innovator? I don't think so. Flair could bump and put his own spin on things, I'll give ya that. Misawa, Lyger, Benoit, Kobashi are probably the only guys I can think of who'd I would consider "total packages" in-ring... I haven't seen enough Harley Race.. in terms of promo and drawing... since I don't speak Japanese I can't tell ya how well Misawa spoke. -
- the way he'll yell "ohhh, SHIT" every time he gets backdropped. - the desparate thumb to the eye. - the WOOO!/chop. - the lowblows. - his tirades during interviews. This is funny cause that's all he's been doing for the past 5 years... take away the tirades and I'll give you a straight-up decade... Of course he can't wrestle at the same level he did 15 years ago, but having him work matches here and there, while using him mostly as a mouthpiece for Evolution is fine by me. Define "here and there"... and he can't wrestle at mark henry level fer christsakes. He looks totally confused in the ring...

I wasn't talking to you NewMe... "this was the period where Benoit was dogging it and you got horrible matches. " You got horrible matches because they sent Benoit out there to stooge for O'haire, Cena, Albert, Rhyno and the Bashams. If Benoit was dogging it then his bumping and stiffness would be effected - it wasn't. He just gave his *green* *heel* opponents more offense than most wrestlers usually do. All of a sudden that's "dogging it".
