The One and Only Angel Season 5 Thread

It's weird getting two introductory eps. in a row... 3 if you count the Season Finale. The Spike gimmick is pretty nifty as it allows the Buffyfiles who never watched the show before to come in and relate to a character and share the "fish-out-of-water" experience. I dug the Villain. A lil goofy in places. Notice that Spike has a thing for boney chicks (Buffy, Dru, Fred), while Angel has a thing for blondes (Buffy, Darla, Kate.. Cordy had blonde highlights before she left.) Spike talked too much. He can't keep up the accent through long dialogue - it gets watered down. Not enough focus on the other characters. I know that they will get their time, but they are on screen for maybe 3 minutes each.. c'mon. Season 1 Lilah is not doin it for me. We need 10 CC's of Foxyness STAT. LUUUUCHA MASK! Did anyone else mark out for JM's name in the opening credits?

It's what fuels him. The rage. The anger. The contempt of a world full of ignorance and injustice. You think you know him? You'll never know him. You are lost... and scared.

You know what I don't get...

Oh, wrestling is not legitimate enough nor are the bumps and moves in the ring, so they have to "move up" to football in order to give wrestlers credibility? ... I still don't get it. It devalues wrestling and supports the competition.

    MOTY for 2003

Well I got both matches on my computer, so I'm game for a lively discussion. I might have to watch the 2/3 falls on mute though in order to get through it again. Look at the work after the "10 count" - it's brilliant.

    Biggest Surprise: 10-7

Smackdown managing to be WORSE than RAW.

    Vince Hates Rhyno

Tajiri has turned a dozen times by now. The only reason he is remotely over is because of his in-ring talent. Eddie was retooled under "Latino Heat", Benoit was the same character, but they haven't given him a STRONG push - he has been used as enhancement talent for as long as he has been there.

    Vince Hates Rhyno

Vince has a problem pushing talent that isn't HIS creation. A wrestler from ECW or WCW with a remodled gimmick and character will get pushed more than a wrestler who has a successful gimmick/character carried over from ECW or WCW.

    Interesting Column

Benoit, Malenko, and Guerrero were in ECW for what, a year? How many shows did ECW have in a year?

    Vince Hates Rhyno

C'mon, he's rhYno - that's pure WWF. RRR: Waiting for Rhyno to become a heat announcer.

Someone needs to walk me through how Dragon/London 2/3 falls was better than Angle/Benoit.

Honestly, If I could come up with the worst possible show given the current storylines THIS would be THAT show.

Nothing that hasn't been said on this board a billion times before, and much better might I add.

    Vince McMahon

It's kinda odd how Vince was able to drop the invasion when the NWO -the group he created- worked so well in WCW. You'd think that previous experience in creating the NWO would have helped him in making the Invasion angle work.

    Tim Sylvia busted for 'roids

The UFC Title situation is FUCKED. But having said that... ... The lightheavyweight title is the only one people care about and Randy Couture has it.

    Tim Sylvia busted for 'roids

First Barnett and now Sylvia... ...aren't steriods supposed to, oh I dunno, make you look more muscular??
  22. RavishingRickRudo

    Vince McMahon

Well gee Z, Hall and Nash started off in WCW so by that extension... Hall and Nash were worth nothing in the WWF, WCW gave them worth with the NWO. To say that Vince created the NWO is like saying the guy who invented rubber invented the automobile.

    Goddamn it

Da Meltz sums it up best: Check out the house show reports from last night. The top workers in the company go two minutes plus in the main event? I figured somebody must have been badly hurt, but I figured wrong. It just happened, without an explanation. They've sabotaged their house show business bad enough by constantly insulting only their most loyal fans who pay to see house shows, and then slapping them in the face, when they watch television, and announcers make statements like Kurt Angle and Brock Lesnar have wrestled only twice before, when the most loyal fans paid $40 and up to see something they are told on TV didn't happen. And surely they recognize they don't matter. And surely the company recognizes that house show attendance is pathetic these days, except when they go overseas or in the rare market in the middle of nowhere that hasn't seen a live event in five years. The worst, is that not only did WCW never truly recognize its mistakes until, perhaps, a month or two before the company died, but WWE, which will last a lot longer because of its cash reserve, will not learn. If they were going to learn, they'd have figured it out a year ago. Last night, both in Trenton and in Uncasville, was proof of that.
  24. RavishingRickRudo

    Vince McMahon

The NWO wasn't Vince's creation. Hall and Nash were more popular in WCW than they ever were in the WWF. The concept and Hogan's turn were WCW-exclusive, as well as the booking. What WCW got was a failed champion and an IC-at-best greaseball and made them in to a threat.

    Best RoH show?

Oh, so maybe you won't like "Someone teach these guys how to fucking build a match and work holds"
