Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7
RavishingRickRudo replied to The Dames's topic in TSM Classic Threads
What are you talking about? Doyles death was build-up from the beginning. Spike established his self-sacrifice in Season 5 when he got tortured by Glory and didn't reveal who was the key (which, btw, was better than his death as well). So it didn't come as that much of a surprise when he did it in Season 7. Doyle's cowardliness and "self preservation" along with his affection for Cordy and admiration for Angel's "heroic properties" was well established during the season esp. in the eps. where he died. That same eps. also showed his regret in not helping his kind before and the shame that has given him. Cordy's feelings were shown when she asked him out to dinner and returned the kiss - which was a helluva lot more satisfying than Buffys pointless "I love you". They killed off a major character in the first season, that's more unexpected than killing off a major character in the very last eps. The end with the video was fucking heartbreaking; the way he was looking off camera and stumbling over words and the such, fuck, that shit was awesome in its imperfection. -
Benoit vs. Albert - I really enjoyed their previous matches cause Benoit takes Alberts offense like a man. The bad thing is Benoit takes it like a man with a deathwish - which is fine for 4 minutes, but 10? They will need a stretcher. Vince vs. Steph - Fuck. HHH is so showing up to save Steph and then square off against Brock at Survivor Series. Fuck. Well, get ready for 7 segments per show of this bullshit leading up to a 5 minute match that won't draw a fly. Taker vs. Brock - It's funny, Taker gets better matches out of Brock and Angle than they do each other. I look forward to this if Brock works the Undershooter style, but I doubt it would be as good as Angles. Eddie - They could work an angle where Chavo keeps booking him and Eddie in matches and having him do double duty every night to wear him down so Chavo can get a title match and try to win the title. Big Show vs. Eddie - Eugh. Big Show works best with other hosses in my view. They're using the typical face heat generating way for Eddie where they put him as the underdog (who hopefully cheats his way out). It's a pretty good transition feud from mid-card to the main event, but I don't think it could get the job done as well as say a feud with Angle.

Buffy The Vampire Slayer: Season 7

I was watching Angel reruns and I gotta say, Doyles self-sacrifice was 10xs better than Spikes. -
Advertising. And I don't mean just on the internet.

Bad. Very Bad. Once is ok. Twice is acceptable. Three times is overdoing it.... 12 times is shoving it down our throats.

Ok for the last time Shane-O-Mac defenders...
RavishingRickRudo replied to Damaramu's topic in The WWE Folder
Now come on guys, in Shane's heart he really does want to put over these guys as superstars. If he were running the company things would be so much different because he's different. He's not like Steph and Vince who put themselves in matches on PPV, or hog up TV time, or gratify themselves on television, or put themselves over talent... shane would never do those types of things. And even if he did, it's because he is being forced to. Why are you always so negative? He's entertaining and the fans were chanting his name, they want him there. At least he's not in the main event like Vince. Oh, you guys make these topics every other week, when will you stop hating? Why do you watch anyways? Nothing will please you. Shane will go away for another 3 years and never make a sound cause he doesn't want to be on tv, this is over now, ok? He is gone for good, unlike those two other evil mcmahons who are forcing him to be on tv... Did I cover everything? -

So you're making an analogy comparing those who enjoyed the show to children. How very open-minded, not at all arrogant, and non-elitist of you. And you avoided the point made. I wanted to know what a certain section of WWE fans thought of the show, I won't put much weight into what they thought but it's still relevant for what it is - initial reaction and response written from WWE consumers. This information can be used in a variety of ways, none of which are particularly relevant to this discussion so I won't elaborate... unless you really want me to. Okay, maybe I did jump the gun a bit. But I think posting the thing about cognitive dissonance came off as an allusion to those who enjoyed the show, hence the gun jumping. Well it was, but it wasn't the _only_ reason anything was done - I just brought it up as a possible objection to the issue at hand. Sure. C'mon, that was a brilliant line. It reflected arrogance and closed-mindedness along with vanity - qualities that you said I had (Vanity and Elitism having similar properties). "Sure" doesn't really do that comment justice. *turns back to Droptoe* C'mon, give it a pat. YOUR opinion is that, without actually seeing it and judging it, it must be bad, and anyone who bought the show with previous knowledge of the card is stupid, therefore it IS about liking the same things as you. But the card alone is enough for any able-minded person to know that the show is bad. How can you say that any of those matches would be good or worth the price paid? If you actually like that crap, you're stupid and you should be ashamed. It's the equivalent of a monkey playing with its feces (notice how I keep relating this show with shit?)/ -
Gerwitz was probably giggling around the writer's office planning tonight's Raw. "Hee Hee! And then Test sticks his pee-pee in Scott's butthole! ::gufaw::" Come on now AS, let's give Brian a lil bit more credit than that... "Hehehe, and then Steiner walks around funny and is ashamed of something and Test stands behind him funny-like with a stick of butter in hand and Stacy has a disgusted look on her face"

Oh come on, the WWE had a perfectly good match between Angle and Taker on Smackdown a few weeks ago. They obviously can work something good if they tried... they just aren't trying... and yet people still support it. Why? I still don't know... all I get is "nothing better to do", "I had the money", and "there was the possibility of something good", all of which can describe playing around with someone elses feces... -

RRR, you say you don't place much value on the opinions of those who ordered the show - you don't really care what they think, because you know, no matter what anyone else says, it was a shitty show and you can't bear to watch shit like the shitty show everyone else watched. I do care what people thought of the PPV, I just don't place much value in what they say. That is possible. If I asked a child what he/she thought about of a certain situation, I won't put much stock in it because it's from a childs POV, but then again, it's from a childs POV and thus worth noting for that very reason. You argue that those who watched said shitty show and enjoyed it are actually experiencing cognitive dissonance, the only possible way people who watched said shitty show that you did not watch could possibly justify enjoying it. No, I said that there is such a thing called Cognitive Dissonance and that people tend to become biased towards things they purchase - which was in response to the validity issue between people who have seen the show and people who haven't. You are drawing your own conclusions from that statement; you might want to take that "thinking before you post your opinion" suggestion to heart. You're right, I was wrong: you aren't elitist. You are actually close-minded, arrogant AND elitist. Well, as long as I am right Not everyone likes the same things as you, granted, but that doesn't mean you suddenly have the power to act like an asshole concerning our opinions. It's not about liking the same things as me - it's about liking, paying and supporting something bad. This PPV had no possible way of being good given it's card, and anyone who purchased it knowing the card is stupid for doing so. -

I find it funny though that your interested in hearing opinions of the show, but not from those who actually ordered it. So in other words you just want to hear negative opinions. Completely untrue, if I had no interest for people who ordered it I wouldn't be discussing it right now with people who ordered it, now would I? But then again, when the best I get is "Parts of it was entertaining" or "Considering how bad it looked" or "it wasn't bad", there's not much you can do with that kind of sugar coated BS. I don't know what else to call ordering WWE ppvs (esp Unforgiven) other than settling for less... cause really, is there anything worse? My main problem was not the quality of the show but your elitist critisism of those who didn't mind ordering it. So are you criticizing me for criticizing? I'm a communications major by the way, thanks for the review That'll be $20 for Tutor Fees... a much better deal than this ppv -

Besides, people always tend to overrate PPV matches right after/during the show. Wrestlemania is a clear example - people were heralding Michaels vs. Jericho and Brock vs. Angle as MOTYC, when in reality they weren't nearly that good. -

Side conclusion: Since I actually viewed the show in question, my opinions of the show are more valid than from someone who did not view the show (you can make the same claim for movies, music, etc.) Cognitive Dissonance is a post-purchase anxiety people go through where they want to be told that they made the right decision - where they want justification. I find that when I go to see a movie in the theatres that I want that movie to do well in the box office and with critics. So that my decision can be given worth. I have a certain bias towards that film because I gave it my time and money. So it's not exactly the most objective of things. -

Well, there you go, you just admitted you wanted to see reactions to the show, namely negative ones because of your own preconcieved notions. When you saw some positive ones, you couldn't take it. No, I couldn't understand why people would order this show... as I stated on page 1. I don't give much worth to any ones opinions on who purchased the show, as they actually purchased the show - as I said in another thread before, and in this thread now. Dispite not putting much worth in what was said, I wanted to know how people responded - that's what I do. "Casual Fans" aren't the only people who should be looked at when examining a PPV's success and how things "work". I like to look at these things, as I have an interest in both the artistic, the technical, and the business side of wrestling. I am also mystified at how people can have such unreasonably low standards and how they settle for such crap like Unforgiven. But I'm also "elitist" in not accepting the lowest of the low, so whatever. Let me again clarify, this was not a good show, but it was not bad either and I had no problem ordering it since Im a wrestling fan who's intentions are to watch a big show in hopes of seeing some good action, Justify that hope. How could you not have a problem ordering a PPV with so much crap on it when your money and time could have gone to millions of better things. Uncreative? Are you confined to a locked room with only a computer infront of you and a credit card? Shit, even then you could have done a million better things not "a smark...(who) like(s) to know how poorly...they book things and see people's reactions to it." Yes, that's right, you say that you're not a "a smark...(who) like(s) to know how poorly...they book things and see people's reactions to it." You say, "I wasted my money and Im an idiot" -

You are elitist because you are telling people that their opinions are wrong. Simple as that. I'm telling people not to settle for less and how by doing so is wrong. Spending money to support this pile of shit is ridiculous. -

Elite: The group or part of a group selected or regarded as the finest, best, most distinguished, most powerful, etc. How is me saying "Don't buy shit" saying "Only buy Best"? You drew your own connections there, skip. Might want to re-examine your thought process when forming that opinion... yes, I know, you might actually have to think before forming it. -

I didn't search for the feed. I only have 28k, so I wouldn't get it even if I wanted. I was on here once in a while to check out what was happening while doing school work - I'm a smark, I like to know how poorly/how well they book things and see how they'd play out and see peoples reactions to it. I certainly wasn't because I secretly wanted to see the show. -

Jamming a fork in an electrical socket is potentially physically dangerous.......ordering a PPV does no harm.......great analogy buddy, try again. But c'mon now Loose, isn't this all just opinion? What is stupid, isn't it? What if it's entertaining? And who are you to tell me what is a great analogy! You can't say that! YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! OPINION! OPINION! YOU CAN'T SAY THAT! YOU CAN'T! OPINION! I'm sorry, do I sound like an idiot? Besides would you say ordering a bad MMA (And i watch those too so don't say there arent bad UFC or PRIDE events) is a stupid decision, so in that case how would you like it if someone said it to you? I wouldn't buy bad MMA events. And if it were bad, I would own up to it. If someone said it was stupid, I would explain why it wasn't rather than crying like a lil opinion bitch. It's a gamble, I think about it, I weigh the options, I look at who's fighting and the potential for a great match. I have reasons for ordering. There were no reasons to order this piece of shit. -

And well Gee Loose, who are you to say what I can say? Blah blah blah, opinion, blah blah blah, bitch, blah blah blah, stop making me cry, blah blah blah, you can't say that, blah blah blah, I'm telling mommy, blah blah blah go watch your puro crap, blah blah blah. RRR: Has sense, that's why I can say what's stupid. Anyone who ordered this horrible card clearly doesn't have any.
