Dick Cheney brings the optimistic campaign
Jobber of the Week replied to Rob E Dangerously's topic in Current Events
You're right. I don't think we should attack people that pose no threat to us. However, I've thought we should go after Bin-Laden's ass since the Cole bombing. Bush's defenders complain that the documents is too vague and wouldn't have been able to prevent 9/11, but that's not the point. Bush promotes himself as a risk-taker who's willing to rub people the wrong way to stop our threats. The person that Bush projects himself as being is a guy who, upon reading that memo, would have left Crawford for Washington immediately and met with Congress ASAP to see about using military force to get OBL. And if they wouldn't go for it, it'd just officially be a "police action" like the last time we went in. The person that Bush really is went outside and starting clearing wild brush. -

"Bin-Laden Determined to Attack Inside America," while not the step-by-step retelling of the attacks that some uninformed people seem to think it is, would certainly qualify as a threat. -
I think somebody's been watching martial arts movies...

The same guy who was against creating a 9/11 comission, then did it?
-
So then, why the huge gap between Likely Voter and Registered Voter?
-
And Bush hasn't flip-flopped? The guy who initially rejected a Department of Homeland Security? The first quote was intentionally clipped to interpret as though he said Saddam was acquiring WMDs, when the "they" he was talking about was actually terrorists in general. The second is made to sound like an endorsement of an Iraq invasion when he instead suggested outside pressure, perhaps economic or diplomatic. Not a full-on military invasion. There's far more of this here. Plus there's the matter that the Republicans like to keep saying "LOL VOTED FOR THE BILLIONS BEFORE I VOTED AGAINST IT LOLOLOL" without ever mentioning the haggling on funding that money.

You didn't see him on Meet The Press. He was doing just fine until Russert quoted him on a line from a book where he says that the 9/11 hijackers were getting back at us for favoring Israel. Rather than simply call for a re-examination of policy, he went into this real anti-Semetic kick of his, and then Russert decided to be an ass and ask Bob Graham sitting right next to him if he agreed, and Graham rather absent-mindedly said something that was way too close to an agreement for my tastes. Pat's rambling about how badly Israel treats Palestinians is a black eye to people who actually care about their quality of life, and not just hate on Jews like Pat did.

Likely Voters isn't a bad poll most of the time. However, when international tension is high very shortly after an election where most people, even registered politically active people like me, just didn't give a shit about either guy, it's not a very good tool. It's not "But the Bush hate!" It's the national non-interest of the 2000 election, followed by this election which has had more buzz than the return of Christ.
-
Except turnout was expeptionally low in 2000. People bitched that "they're the same guy" and basically things were much less divisive than they are now. The most popular view in 2000 seemed to be "politicians are scumsuckers, forget it, I'm not voting for either guy." Also, you aren't counting people young and old who registered to vote because they're angry with how Bush has handled things.

God forbid someone be concerned about that. At an insane cost, such as the rest of the world protesting how we throw our weight around because we're so scared about being hit. -
Likely Voters is a pretty stupid poll because it only counts people who voted in the last election.

The bolded parts are the part included in the ad. In the ad, it makes it sound like Kerry supports going to war with Saddam. In the proper context, you see that's not quite it. GLORIA BORGER: Do we have any information that chemical and biological attacks were part of this? We got news this morning about the crop-dusting manuals. KERRY: No, no, no, n--at least I don’t and not to my knowledge do any of my colleagues. But it is something that we know, for instance, Saddam Hussein has used weapons of mass destruction against his own people, and there is some evidence of their efforts to try to secure these kinds of weapons and even test them. That’s why it’s so vital that we get the global community to be part of this effort to begin to make their lives miserable. --- KERRY: Oh, I think we clearly have to keep the pressure on terrorism globally. This doesn't end with Afghanistan by any imagination. And I think the president has made that clear. I think we have made that clear. Terrorism is a global menace. It's a scourge. And it is absolutely vital that we continue, for instance, Saddam Hussein. I think we... KING: We should go to Iraq? KERRY: Well, that -- what do you and how you choose to do it, we have a lot of options. Absent smoking gun evidence linking Saddam Hussein to the immediate events of September 11, the president doesn't have the authorization to proceed forward there. But we clearly are he ought to proceed to put pressure on him with respect to the weapons of mass destruction. I think we should be supporting an opposition. There are other ways for us, clandestinely and otherwise, to put enormous pressure on him and I think we should do it.

These things run on polls, which are.. Well, wonky. Gallup finally did a post-convention poll that shows the convention bounce was 2 points. Normally I'd suggest Gallup generally favors the Republican but perhaps this time they were, well, conservative about it.

No, really. That's not what really happened. What happened was... WHO WANTS SOME WAR GRITS? Oh man, that looks like a lot of you. I don't know if we have that much grits to go around. You know, I'd bitch-slap you if I wasn't so busy diggin' my own grave. Whateva'. You jess' jealous. Read the sign, bitch! My flag is bigger than yours! My flag is bigger than everybody's. Now hold on a minute. Your flag is big, but did you ever consider putting a desk in front of it? I have done studies and found that it increases your chance of getting blown. -

Uh, okay. Sorry, you and Drudge make it out like he voted for the bill with one of these hiding in his bedroom closet.

We went over this. None of the other documents have anything informative in them. It's all in the AARs and other papers you've already seen. Alright, fine. Twelve minutes of out-of-context quotes, selective editing, and facts conveniently left out for the sake of creating a compelling arguement.

He is? He was suggesting sending more troops when Democratic opinion is "OMG QUAGMIRE WE GOTTA LEAVEZ NOW"

Kerry under investigation for possible medal fraud
Jobber of the Week replied to a topic in Current Events
This wouldn't be the same one that sued State Farm now, would it? -
So, when was he given the gun?
-
A logo change wouldn't hurt, but it wouldn't result in booming business either.
