    Hey BUSH!! PAY ATTENTION!!!

Here's one: not have gone and gotten distracted by Iraq before Tora Bora had been flushed out. I applaud the "deal with this" statements, but #1 was the very problem (not at first, but certainly after 9/11) and why it's political. Okay. Careful language here. While it's important to protect ourselves, no I don't think we should be tearing down "potentially" dangerous nations. That is, assuming that the nation in question is "potentially" dangerous like Pakistan and not "potentially" dangerous like the USSR. Hell no. It only gives us reasons to ignore problems at home. Terrorism comes in many forms. Not just Osama and Al-Zwahiri, but Tim McVeigh and Terry Nichols. You could almost say that as long as there's such radical divides in this world that some people feel terribly opressed, there will always be terrorism. But if we wanted to make a start, discouraging theocracy rule, whether it's an Islam state or otherwise, is a good step. Religion isn't a bad thing in peoples' lives, but also is responsible for some of the most irrational thinking known to man.

WWE 24/7 should be like the NFL Network....

HD takes up a lot of bandwith for cable and satellite companies. So few people would want to watch these shows (which aren't nearly the draws they used to be) like this that all it would do is cause the channel to not be carried by most providers. That said, I would like to eventually see PPVs go HD. It would give people incentive to order the show instead of wait for the DVD, and the 16:9 aspect ratio would be really helpful for the Royal Rumble (see more guys at once, or see the whole ring without having to zoom out real far)

    The Invasion and nWo

Would've needed some fancy booking to explain how Shane could steal Vince's Thursday night spot. Remember, people: the company couldn't get any more TV time during the Invasion. They tried, but it turned out the XFL completely jinxed this. McMahon fucked up so hard on NBC (including completely tanking the ratings of a sweeps week episode of Saturday Night Live) that nobody was willing to give him any more than he already had.

Man, you guys really hate her. She's not great, but come on, this was a period where we had SARA UNDERTAKER on our screen for gods sakes.

Bob Feller: Ali shouldn't have been honored

I'm sorry, I don't give a fuck about someone's politics when they're in something as politically irrelevant as sports. Same with music.

I can't wait for Bad News Brown's update. His comment about Bret as a whiny bastard who, if it was a shoot fight, would never get a job higher than post-show breakdown crew, had me in stitches.

    The Invasion and nWo

Bringing the ECW name into the fold not only cost McMahon a small headache and some money, but ruined the vibe of Invasion to me. Why do I give a shit about some little has-been fed that I not only never heard of until I got online, but couldn't find on TV schedules until it's absolutely worst period? Why are we wrecking the vibe of WWF vs WCW with this shit? Furthermore, if I as a mark turning smark in that period, could not give a crap, why should a WWF-watching mark, who's probably only watched a few hours of WCW and no ECW at all, even begin to care? WWF vs WCW is PERFECT, it's what about a million people at one point or another have had little wet dreams about, it doesn't need this shit and it didn't need a McMahon father/son feud either. Vince/Shane should have ended at WM17 and Shane should have disappeared from the angle entirely to put the focus on the new wrestlers instead. And yes, NWO should have been a WWF faction that eventually turned on it's own when the Invasion period was over and Vince realizes he can't control them.

    Ditka Considering Senate Run

I don't think Powell's views on stuff like affirmative action really matter much when you're talking seceretary of state. And Condi Rice is a brilliant liar but otherwise I'm unimpressed.

So why did Saddam have to go...

Don't underestimate the Daddy factor, either.

So why did Saddam have to go...

For the record, DON'T do it by looking up the country name in Google Image Search. I got some nasty photos. Zowie.

Bush promotes measure against gay marriage

We don't really have that Me Too on the rightie side, and she posted probably the least often of all the regulars here. Mike has recently graduated to a complete Wonk though.

    Hey BUSH!! PAY ATTENTION!!!

Has anyone actually heard him say this? So far, I've only heard that he said it to someone while on the other side of the pond, but there were no cameras and no tape recorders present. Meanwhile, GreatOne goes overboard with... Did you see that scene where Bush said that Osama is just one guy and he's not concerned where he is? Osama would probably vote Bush for that if he could.

    Fox News STATEMENT/MEMOS O' HILAIRTY

NPR is more independent than you think. PBS even moreso. Get off your Bill O'Reilly book and try a little for yourself before you come to conclusions. Also, odd that CWM was the only guy to notice that they were unhappy to hear that LESS people died in the train wreck.

Bret Hart responds to Ric Flair's comments

It was working the first few nights. The original three guys just needed to almost never wrestle. They should be a novelty, not a regular commodity. It was always clear that Hall/Nash/Hogan were charismatic guys who could build a heel stable, and so rather than run off and get Big Show and X-Pac and say "hey, remember this?" they should have just built a new NWO with the new names 9being Hogan and co) wrestling only on PPV. Smarkism aside, a lot of fans were exploding to see Hulk Hogan in the WWF again. So what does a good business man do? You use him sparingly, leave them wanting more. Vince instead decided to give everyone what they wanted and immediately booked him against The Rock. Jesus, that should have been Hogan's endgame feud for when he was going to leave the promotion.

Bush promotes measure against gay marriage

Here's what cracks me up about Xias' posts: He's offended by what MrRant is saying, but he doesn't see that the civil conversation he and SpiderPoet are having are two different sides and Rant is simply the middle. SP sees marriage as much more than a government term but as a something spiritual and wants to preserve that. Xias thinks we either need to give everyone the right to marry, which SP disagrees with, or just go all out on civil unions. Both proposals leave MrRant, the non-religious guy who wants to get a marriage, not a civil union, with the short end of the stick. So it's funny that's Xias is talking about people who don't care and how "they" are telling "us" what to do, when it's people like MrRant who are the most persecuted here.

    Serious question about American media/public

I wish you'd do some research on Edwards, Mike. He's seemed to change a lot, psychologically, emotionally, since the trial lawyer days. This is like me saying that President Bush is a huge party animal because he got a ticket many years ago.

    Bischoff making Reality TV??

Eric was good as a sleze, but I think when he had to utter the phrase "big breasted beauty" it was time to pull the plug. Farewell, Bischoff. It's a shame your WWF tenure was less of a big splash and more like a rock skipping along the very top of the pond.

    TiVo or DVR...

Problem is that my mom records 60-90 minutes each day of just her morning shows alone. She also has a problem staying awake while watching TV in the evening and usually watches a show 2 or 3 times. This was a dual-tuner DirecTivo, though. We've now moved to cable because of the internet connection (not very nuts about cable TV, but oh well) and a one-tuner ReplayTV, which is great (better guide than non-DirecTV Tivo as well, with a grid and everything) until you get an HDTV and find all but the most expensive DVRs aren't going to work. Heh.

Oh yeah? Could El work so hard that he tore a quad just seconds after getting into the ring? Sure, Nash is a little gimpy now but it's only because he pushes his body to the limits instead of being lazy like El. They lost so much potential money by not doing that Nash vs El Gigante feud.
