Because while you can argue that the damage that Bush has done in the past four years is done, why invite four years more?
-
But what if he winds up being only ineffective at best?

From the same pack of liars?

What program will HHH suck the heat out of next?

I still hate the gimmick, and it's L-A-M-E to put it consistantly in the MAIN EVENT. -
Something that Slam didn't mention, that I think would be important for him is this: The only time we get smaller government is when the government can't get anything done. Four years of Republicans controlling every cog in the machine and we've seen a lot of "conservatives" go crazy on pork. If Kerry is immediately fighting with a Republican-controlled Congress, then less garbage will pass, and the size of the government (in influence, if not in budget) will shrink.

EDIT: Whoops. Old post.

I still don't approve of his wording in May. Saying it was justifiable for someone to be shot and killed for stealing a handful of poundcake was pretty awful. However, I take back my criticism of him personally since he expanded his views. It sounds like he was simply being more controversial as he was caught in the heat of the moment.

I don't think anyone's problem with G-Dub was the Coke in the mainstream. It probably shook the conservative base a little, but they're not blindly loving him anyway so it doesn't matter. The only scary thing to be concerned about is the fact that he refused to say he didn't do coke just as much as he refused to say that he did. And that some people hold this up as a defense to claims he did use it.

Gee, who knows, maybe they had to concede some points to one another. We'll see whose view on trade prevails, I guess.

So, Mike... Should the networks have to cover ALL the parties' conventions?

The GOP might be able to tear away at Edwards' background by pointing out that he's currently very wealthy, but I don't see how they're going to be able to explain away that their man is the Paris Hilton style heir to an elite family.

I thought Bush had great charisma as a governor. Sure, his screwups were fodder for the late night comics, and still are, but he seemed very promising with all this talk of bipartisan efforts and raising above the shitflinging and blah blah blah. Turns out this whole plan hinges on the Democrats shutting up and nodding their head at every Republican proposal, but it sure sounded good at the time. President Bush is a warmonger that some wager ought to be a criminal. Governor Bush was a nice guy seemed to really want to change the tone in Washington, if you'll just forgive that whole "McCain's illegitimate black child" thing. Still, Governor and President Bush are both holding 50% against Dems with the personality of a brick wall, which kind of makes me question the "personality counts" thing anymore. It'll be interesting to see if Edwards changes anything. If he can look like the better man once Halliburton Dick waves the "WAR WAR WAR FEAR FEAR FEAR TERROR TERROR TERROR" flag at the debate, it could get interesting.

CNN is loving this. "A Dewey defeats Truman from the New York Post, this Murdoch publication.. Let's show the apology their printed to keep the journalistic scales.... Okay, we here at the the New York Post incorrectly, blah blah blah..." He actually skipped over a huge chunk with "blah blah blah."

You forgot this:

The Shatneresque pauses are mostly gone but he keeps the same sound through the whole speech. It's not BAD, but it isn't condusive to short-attention span America where you need to get everything to fit in a soundbyte.

Irrelevant "it's okay because I agree with him" garbage. Yeah, which guy's the one who already has an office? Oh yes, and IN THE SENATE CHAMBER. Not after business heading out to lunch, in the friggin' Senate.
-
If you look, there's only one short paragraph in the whole article that says that they're nervous because he's a lawyer.

I can't think of any VP that would have made the stock market happy except Warren Buffett, and he's probably got enough skeletons in his financial closet to avoid politics. Though it would be funny to see the people who howl over Soros have their heads explode on the sight of Buffett.

Gallup overstates the conservative numbers, I've found, after researching that "whats morally acceptable/unacceptable" poll more.

Yeah, Mike. That Canadian government has been handing out those "How To Hate America For Dummies" books again. No, we shouldn't be "worried" about this any more than we are any other country. Canadian youth tends to hate us because they're increasingly becoming America Jr. and feel it's only a matter of time before they lose the most significant parts of their culture to McDonalds, Wal-Mart, and Blockbuster Video. I myself would not be against if we simply blew up the book on American pop culture and started all over again, this time with less fast food stands and less Britney Spears.

I wonder how this could have slipped by MikeSC

You didn't get what I said. Are these WMDs? A case can be made for that. Does this really justify all the work we've done so far? Oh, come ON. -
I don't think using the f-word in such sacred places like Rolling Stone and a slope in Aspen mean much anymore since Cheney's only been using it in the SENATE CHAMBER.
-
Mike the polls change depending on who's taking them. Some show Kerry with a lead, the latest (Gallup?) show Bush with a lead.

If they just mean the difference will be fifteen points, that wouldn't be a hell of a lot of change. If they mean fifteen more points that currently, I'd say they're overestimating. The reality lies somewhere in the middle.
