Bush isn't Hitler -- He's Nixon

I wonder why the media didn't report on that, huh? Could it be because they didn't want another Klinton scandal? -
How 9/11 Happened

WHOA WHOA WHOA Stop the spin!!! http://www.nypost.com/news/nationalnews/17591.htm Now, as you can see, a majority of Americans dislike gay marriage. Our government doesn't force laws on people that they don't want because this is a democracy of the people! If a majority of people don't want gay marraige in America, then it ought to be respected! -

I don't understand why you guys are all dissin' on Ann Coulter. I mean, sure, just because she's a conservative and everything, everyone feels the need to flame her? How uncalled for! Has she ever said anything bad about the Democrats? No. And so I see no reason to hate on her. -

I do see the Bush/Nixon thing. Reagan was just about as looming and threatening as Bush is when it comes to going to war. The thing about Reagan, though, was that you knew what he wanted. He made his goals clear, got what he wanted, and met them. Compared to Reagan, Bush operates in a hell of a lot of secrecy. -
I have to say my biggest problem with Kerry, while I still think he's the better choice, is that he says absolutely nothing with feeling. Like here he's trying to connect with people who both support artist's rights and people who want decency standards, as shown in the first bold line. But the second bold part is... LOL!!
-
Maybe? But they outwardly try to be conservate-oriented, so I don't know how saying "well, they're not as conservative as the could/should be" is somehow making their statements more reliable.

That was something someone emailed to me. I only intended for it to last a week, wasn't my fault everyone else jumped on it as well. My mom listens to KGO as her wake up show, but I never have. I actually tried NPR, but it's really difficult as only KQED comes in well at night but loses signal in the mornings, when an itty bitty station with a signal that doesn't in the evenings suddently works. So, to listen to NPR, I have to listen to two different stations depending on the hour of the day. That and the Morning Edition host, no matter how nice his voice sounds, isn't capable of waking me up. The one hour I heard of that Rhodes woman today had a caller from Canada, who talked about how narrow US politics are, minority governments, etc. Basically said that if we were more like many other countries, Nader would have more support. Rhodes just totally snapped at him and talked about how the country can't afford to give support to Nader right now, etc etc. Now, that might just be her opinion, or it might be consistant across the network. Franken pretty much didn't talk about Nader at all in his books, so I don't know what he thinks.

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/artic...-2004Mar25.html The first one is a tad irresponsible but is mostly political, but the second is just offensive. I'm sure the parents of the people who've died in Iraq are just laughing their keisters off at this. Yeah, sure.

It's only spin if you want it to be. There's a lot of multicultural sources around here. And there's certainly a variety of colorful radio stations, some more radical than others. I think the bigger problem is the signal strength. I thought that station is reaching very many people in the first place.

George W Bush makes joke about lack of WMDs
Jobber of the Week replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
So why does his favorability match his Dad's? It still cracks me up that you think that's a potential problem compared to ways other politicians have made money, and I'm not just talking about Bush or conservatives, though that's included in there somewhere. The greatest effect you've predictred Edwards' past presents is that small town people will vote against him because of trial lawyers have taken doctors out of their town. That really doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me as to why people would do that when voting for the President. This isn't City Council we're talking about here. Makes sense. It will likely be someone coming out of nowhere and stirring the pot for attention. This party doesn't often breed people to go out and win elections in the future, and when they do, it never works. I would have told you in January that the San Fran mayor was a strong contender for a Washington-based office in the future. Now that he shot himself in the foot? Hah! I don't know how many people think it's Hillary. I believe the vast majority of the Dems have realized that your side really, really hate the Clintons and will come down on us like a ton of bricks if we ever try to put them in a role of significance again beyond Hillary extending her current term. Go through the cries of "Why won't the Clintons ever LEAVE?!", and look to the source of the constant Clinton media frenzy, and what you'll find is unabashedly conservative media outlets speculating on a return of the Clintons. Sure, Bill still drops in now and then to make a speech and fire up a crowd, but all these claims that somehow the left can hang onto the legacy of the 90s by working the Clintons in over and over, that's just bullshit. -
FCC verdict in on music downloading case

There's really nothing to be afraid of here, really. They're just nailing heads to the wall and leaving "THIS COULD BE YOU" signs behind. -
They'll have archives ala NPR, so you can just pick the show with the guests that interest you and listen to them after work.

George W Bush makes joke about lack of WMDs
Jobber of the Week replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Actually, as one of your detractors or something along those lines, I thought that post was very well-put. I believe, right now, the President is defeatable. We'll see how things change or don't change come November. Independents don't like Bush that much right now, though, and I think that'll be a big decision maker if all the Republicans vote for their guy and all the Democrats vote for their guy and we have a close race. -
Well, damn, that's not going to help matters much. She was talking to someone on the phone about Richard Clarke when the neighbor came for his radio. I think that once this station comes to SF, I'll probably adopt Franken as my new morning show, replacing the jazz station. But otherwise, I don't think I'll be listening to this station that often unless there's big political shit brewing.

Never do that again. (holds head while looking for Tylenol)

Cerebus gets the point!

OK, it's Garafolo time. Who else is listening?

"I'm fascinated by rap and hip-hop"
Jobber of the Week replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Dids, I would have agreed with his point, but the thing is that I actually saw the interview, and he said it without any actual feeling. Like it was something he was just handed off by his handlers. And yes, GW has done the same before. And Wesley Clark's comments on Outkast humored me, too. But, man... And no, Mike, I don't think it'll be a slaughtering, because of both independents and the "any idiot over what we have now" vote. -
More like I was disappointed they went and catered to the lowest common denominator. For all I know, at night there might be a decent guy, but the host I heard probably would have opened with "Yo, yo, yo, yo, YO!!!!" if I was listening at the start of the program.
-
Fox News does fluff interviews with the likes of a 14 year old Canadian girl who got booed by a couple students for wearing an American flag outfit at school. That's even dumber to me, yet you're watching it and I'm not.

Heh. There's actually a black talk station on this radio next to the liberal talk station, but it was a little too, eh, unrefined? An actual station promo: "BLAAAAAACK TAAAAALK! 24 HOUR BLAAAAACK TALLLLLLLK! NATIONWIDE 24 HOUR BLAAAACK TAAAAALLLLLLK! UNCENSORED NATIONWIDE 24 HOUR BLAAAAACK TAAAAAAALK!" ...And yes, it actually held those words like that. That and the host I heard likely didn't have much previous radio experience, as he was abusing ebonics out the ying-yang.
-
This sucks. I got my picture taken with the Michael Keaton era Batmobile. That one was my favorite.

No. And here's why, I found out from another liberal show: They're trying to bring in guys who haven't done radio. That's why all the shows have 2 or 3 hosts. You have your comedian, your policy wonk, and sometimes one person with radio experience who keeps the show moving along.
