If Doane or Jeter are going to get over, they need something new. Look at Johnny Nitro. Do you think he would have been better off if he stayed as Bischoff's toady? I don't think they need to be taken off TV for any amount of time because there's really nothing wrong with Doane and Jeter and the other guys weren't great shakes anyway. The individual members of the Squad have any personality that require them to get a "reset" anyway.

When he was in control in that match, the crowd was chanting "Eugene sucks." His jobbing was responded to with a big round of applause. Again, the business is too smart now for people to show sympathy heat for a guy just pretending to be mentally handicapped.
-
Eugene never meant anything, because he is a machine that runs on sympathy heat he can't get. We're supposed to cheer for him because he's intellectually outgunned and always placed in situations that don't favor him. The problem is, Dinsmore really ISN'T mentally challenged, and we all know he's just acting, and thus the crowd feels insulted to show sympathy to a guy who really doesn't have a disability and just acts like it. Shit, they had a hard enough time trying to get the crowd to care about Zach Gowan and he had a REAL disability, you expect them to support a guy PRETENDING to be "special"? Good luck with that! Dinsmore needs to progress to something where he isn't pretending to be stupid. Just go with something over the top, like a chairshot to the head turns him into a normal person. Maybe in the old days, Eugene could get over. But now that the business is exposed, no friggin' chance.

Maybe Cena will answer Batista's challenge. Hyuck hyuck hyuck.

Yes, DX needs to face somebody else other than the Spirit Squad. It's pretty sad to see the hot DX intro and "Are you ready?" bit get followed by the most ridiculous and un-over stable since the X-Factor come down to silence. If we're going to do Austin-McMahon YET AGAIN, at least have Vince shuffle through various teams in the company. Of course, Raw is lacking for teams. As for Umaga going over, can you smell the ELEVATION!?
-
Either DQ or Umaga wins via Edge. Either way, expect Estrada to eat a super-sized FU or something.

Except nobody knew what was happening aside from Hogan's appearance. They've been so busy promoting Vengeance and the Bash and ECW when they aren't promoting the other two, that the show crept up and nobody noticed. Of course, a Saturday night in summer doesn't help. Come on, the show was rushed from planning to filming, and even most wrestling fans couldn't remember it was there as a result. The only guy at jobber level through the whole show was Stevie Richards, so it wasn't like the card sucked, it's just that nobody knew it was there and probably because of the timing few people would watch even a PPV-sized card.

What program would you like to see ME Raw?

I think Lesnar has depreciated his marketability value and probably rusted his skill to a shadow of his former self, but even in that state he is an excellent replacement for Mark Henry as a Big Ugly Evil Guy. That said, it's pretty obvious that Edge is a short-term champion because if he wasn't they would have done SOMETHING to revert the belt back to the original form. I don't care what he does, throw it off a bridge or just melt the thing, but the fact that RVD, Edge and others are having to carry around that goddamn "spinna" belt says it all. It doesn't matter what guy is Champion, the fact that he's still carrying around those modern-day smoking skulls proves who the main event angle is REALLY all about. This actually reminds me of the Rock's custom title and Vince backing out of it in fear that they would never bring the original eagle belt back. With the way things are going right now, that may happen for the next year at least. -
Since the show was so poorly booked and put on a night when young people tend to be out hanging with friends instead of sitting around watching television, I'm not suprised at the number. Saturday night is traditionally the night you DON'T have to go to work the next day, so you go out and make a ruckus and have a lifestyle and don't sit around watching wrestling at your house. Unless you're a lonely wrestling fan without a girlfriend like me or something.

Trips is leaving to go be a Dad soon. I think a Shawn/Edge would be great if Shawn got back into his Hogan feud persona and Edge pointing out that as an over-the-hill born-again Shawn doesn't have the bad boy prestige anymore. I'd also think a Shawn/Foley No-DQ match be fun, especially since the one other time they had a big match it was an excellent psychological match but not heavy on the tacks and sharp things that Mick is well known for. But there'd be no elevation so it's a waste of both guys' time. I don't know why everyone is so convinced that Orton is going to job for Hogan. Unlike his other appearances, Hogan is here to promote his daughter, and if his jobbing will result in better exposure for his daughter, then why not job? But when you have a guy called "Legend Killer," it's not a suprise that some days he will be jobbing to guys who are really too old for someone his age to be putting over, otherwise it's just too predictible that he'll beat them. -
With Undertaker visiting ECW, I think GAB should be Batista VS one of the ECW guys. I know that doesn't continue the overarcing story of Lashley and Batista versus Booker's stable. Big Show would work, and Singh can interfere to continue the War of the Big Fat Guys.

Seriously, what media...? I never heard a thing about it outside wrestling news boards, and who cares about those things? It never made it out as a story which put the company in bad light. It may simply have been worth something. Have you seen hotels in downtown Los Angeles? Some of them have public areas that are incredibly old/expensive. It's not uncommon to walk in a room and find a B&W picture of someone like Walt Disney or Charlie Chaplin hanging out in the same room. If he tossed a Wal-Mart potted plant that was sitting in the Best Western, I bet it'd be a different story.

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)

I never cared for Candice, but her little bit the other night was probably the sexiest "Diva" segment they've done in some time. As far as dancing like a stripper goes, she was carrying Kelly like Benoit carrying Albert to a decent match. -
Yeah, he got my hopes up for a minute there.

Sandman cannot carry the company, because the guy is all entrance and he doesn't have that now. The guy has only been in one interesting angle and he was being partially carried by a child. Dreamer seems so much more likely to me. On the other hand, if we HAD to have Flair wrestle an ECW guy, Flair/Sabu would be interesting just for all the blood would that be spilled everywhere when it was done. -
Buchanan '08 Ideally, we wouldn't have a Holocaust denier.

He says that like it's a bad thing. Better to run out of missiles than soldiers. I'm curious what he thought we were doing with them?

OAO ECW on Sci-Fi Thread for 7/11 (Week 5)

Bullshit, it was an "extreme rules" match which meant that run-ins are legal. They could have had anyone, even a guy debuting on the show for the first time, run in there and take it and do something interesting. I mean, shit, it's the THIRD brand, bottom on the totem pole, with a belt that's only two weeks old. It's not total shit if they had somebody run-in and take it. Would get people talking about that person, too. -
Yeah, when he said "3 minutes" I immediately said "or two fat guys will jump out of the closet and squash you."

I can't wait for A Flair For The Gold 2006. I actually want him to win just for the entertainment value. -
I could see a number of roles for him on Raw. I originally envisioned him as a guy in a next-generation DX before I found out that the whole revival was just for Trips and Shawn to briefly forget that they're married and dads and rapidly balding, without ever really passing the gimmick onto anyone new.

So far, Ripper is winning this contest. I would only buy from T-Mobile, with Verizon as a backup in case T-Mo won't cover the area (like at my Mom's place.) Nobody will get my business without a one year option, I'm afraid. I have some old AT&T trash. -
Killer smiles can't win elections, but I truly do feel that sunny optimism is a big help. In fact, sunny optimism counts for at least 40% of your average "outsider" candidate. It can hold the base without ostracizing people who don't agree with every single one of your positions. Dubya was a fairly sunny candidate at one point, too. The press grilled him for it, but it probably had to do with him being the son of a President while running an outsider campaign with the edge of a goofy guy image.

Last I heard about the rape, we were trying to tapdance with the new Iraqi government and convince them that military court was good enough for the punk, while the Iraqi government wanted to give him Iraqi-style trial and justice since it was on their land against one of their people. Anything become of that?
