There's a catch 22 situation. You need to go online to Windows Update to get the patches, but while you're downloading them the virus can hit you (you'll know it did when you get a message informing you that RPC requires the computer to reset.) Firewalling off port 135 is the most secure method.

Huge ammounts of police swarming "Neverland"...

/doesn't tell you Well, don't. There's enough people in Japan adept at bilingual English and Japanese that all their call centers and stuff are staffed as well as they need to be. It used to be 12 years ago that people who could speak both languages were paid quite a bit more because they were in demand. Add in the explosion of people learning the language to be able to understand comic books and anime and you're going to see in a few years huge glut of supply and not nearly enough demand. Learn Japanese if you want, but don't make it your major.
-
Please do not tell me you plan to major in Japanese. Please?

I voted Social because I'm not going to vote for someone who's going to spin civil rights back 30 years no matter how good a leader they be. My heart though wants to vote Economic. As for foreign, wars come and go, but money is a constant.

Seeing that this is how the virus he got is spread, I wouldn't really reccomend that. Also, WindowsXP has it's own built-in CD burner. It's crude, but it works for backing up data to CDs. DO NOT BACK UP APPLICATIONS. Many viruses spread themselves to every .exe and other file they can touch. If you back up programs, you may very well back up the virus itself and welcome it onto your new computer. NOT GOOD. And remember after you reformat, if you don't use a firewall of any kind, do use one (even the built-in WinXP one which /should/ be turned on by default) at least until you can download the Windows Update patches. There's a ton of viruses that spread over port 135 that I was talking about earlier.

Don't you have a burner or access to someone else's to just make one from your original?
-
Well, first of all remember that I linked to it saying that it was a blatantly partisan editorial. You've never seen me go on about state issues, I take it? I suddently turn into a cold Republican when it turns into homeless handouts, illegal immigrants, teaching school in other languages, etc.

Actually, I wonder if Gore is on a crusade to reform the whole Party. He recently just endorsed Gavin Newsom for San Fran mayor. Newsom's opponent is a really far-left Green who's actually managed to stir a lot of activity, but despite the media's claims of a close race I believe Newsom is just cutting his teeth on this in wait for a much bigger role in the next decade. Then he goes and supports Dean, who has been critical of the DNC establishment now and then. Good luck, Al. I hope it works.

WMD Could've Been Launched in 45 Minutes
Jobber of the Week replied to MrRant's topic in Current Events
Hey. Whatever happened to Rummy's comments about knowing where the WMD were being hidden within a few miles? What happened to these comments about how in 48 hours they could piece together a whole WMD and launch it out the door? Shit, the original article claims something similar (although caught sources close to Saddam and Iraqi scientists have also said it was simply a bunch of bluffing.) What happened to all this? The typical resistance to the Iraq war, after the shock wore off that we were going to attack a country rather than retaliate in self-defense, was that there was all this talk about WMDs being able to fly RIGHT FUCKING NOW, and something must be done immediately to stop it. The war was accepted more or less on this claim, despite the lack of tangible proof to back it up. If we just trusted them to go wage war, all the mysteries would be answered and we would see that they were right all along. And then we saw they weren't, appearantly. -
Colin Powell would be running for President as a woman? That's a shocker. I think Hillary could probably defeat Condoleeza, she's not in the public eye as much as Powell and Rumsfeld yet will still manage to have that "responsible for the Iraq war" stigma if it turns out by 2008 we never found any WMDs, stable Iraq or not. I could live with a Powell administration. Unfortunately, he's pretty close to bailing, possibly even before a second Bush term ends if there is one. He really really wants to spend time with his family and get out of all this. I suspect if Hillary ran though, the GOP would run Giulianni. And even I know who I'd vote for in that case. Rudy Guilianni is the motherfuckin' MAN and IMHO is pretty much a lock for whenever he decides to run.

Ah sheesh, you have so much you could slam her for and you pick that stupid shit? MrRant: Actually, Drudge's credibility is questioned mainly when he doesn't list a source. He does here. I just hate it when a story was posted by "anonymous sources close to (___) told DRUDGE." Then a bulldozer carrying a massive fucking grain of salt is required.

It's sad the guy is still so over, since he's effectively making a cup of coffee stay and going away again. We all know this, right? -
http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...1458EST0509.DTL I don't know what's better, Card being so taken aback or the Kerry representative saying that it's okay because HE SERVED (HOLY FUCK) and thus he's qualified to use salty language.

Thank heavens. -
He also asked them if he would shut down GE, I think before Fox even. And hey, if political commentators like Charles Krauthammer talking about Howard Dean are suddently worthy of consideration here, I'd like to point out Molly Ivins has backed Dean not because she purely agrees with him, but because she thinks he's the most electable, front runner or not. Uh.. Yeah.

Sharpton SNL appearance to be blacked out in Iowa
Jobber of the Week replied to kkktookmybabyaway's topic in Current Events
It's cool to see that Tyler only pops in here a little once and a while and I've really cooled down the posting in here (I've been getting busier in the WWE forum) but it's reassuring to see that the Republicans here are continuing to go on about those silly Democrats... Even after the Democrats have almost stopped posting. Hope you guys have kept some spare fuel in reserve. -

Kerry uses swear word, offends Chief of Staff
Jobber of the Week replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Also, you realize that at the time Kerry and other guys were in the service it was because many of them had no choice, right? I mean, shit on the volunteer servicemen if you like, they're getting their ass shot up while you sit and complain about what they do, but it wasn't always like that. -
Kerry uses swear word, offends Chief of Staff
Jobber of the Week replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Have you listened to Kerry speak? He harps on about being a veteran. The "OMG JOHN KERRY SERVED NO GET REAL" running gag is because if he talks about it off the campaign as much as he does on the campaign, well... "Dear, could you hand this war hero the potatoes? Thanks." -

Meh, it's only okay. You guys are just marking out because it acknowledges company past that Vince likes to imagine never happened aside from when a novelty act returns on nostalgia (Hogan, Piper, etc)
