    Jeff Hardy's first concert announced

Smark Fact: Jeff Hardy threads will keep winding up in the WWE folder even though they probably belong in General Wrestling or even Music (if you can call it that.)

    Where are those clips from...

I don't remember seeing all these scenes in Bowling for Columbine, sorry. The man who shoots himself in the head is Bud Dwyer. Someone linked me to that once, not telling me what it was, and for 5 minutes I was weak-kneed. I think I was actually praying at one point, as it put some religion in me for a few minutes. D:<

    Yes, another RIAA discussion

Hey, when you start it up, it asks you if you want it to do that. You can say no. Really. I know. A ton of Windows users were bitching when it first came out about this. It's only because of your own ignorance and that you didn't look through the options. Regardless, if iTunes has arranged all your MP3s and you don't want it that way, you can choose Consolidate Library from a menu and it will cram them all back into one folder for you.

    Is Nintendo Dropping Mario?

Nintendo might as well get out of the home console biz and ask Microsoft about becoming an exclusive in cooperation for MS not making a portable and developing an Xbox/GameBoy hookup thing. Game Boy is where all the money is being made. GameCube is where it's all being lost.

    School drug raid causes uproar

Well, you're saying this legal but socially sketchy choice of action was a good thing not because of what it did but what it might potentially do.

    School drug raid causes uproar

You're trying to accuse somebody of doing something that nobody was accused of doing. It is fucking unbelievable that Police unsheathed weapons in a school in a non life or death scenario. It's already unbelievable that we have DEA agents shooting children.

I agreed with a kkk post. *sniffs, scrolls down* I agreed with a SECOND kkk post. *cries*

    Yes, another RIAA discussion

I'm not exactly sure on all that, but it is AAC and actual audiophile magazines and the like have done comparisons and found that AAC files DO sound better than MP3 files. You can try and argue that evidence and say that you've downloaded a dozen albums of Kazaa and you have the experience to know in these matters, but these were actual studies. I'd link to them if I had them. I've used iTunes for 3 songs so far and Napster for 2. Napster does sound like crap but that's because their using WMA. Ick. I understand why they do (it's compatible with a good deal of MP3 players), but for listening on my PC or burning to CD (I'm too poor for a player) I prefer iTunes.

    The State of the Media

If that was true then "The 700 Club" would be the highest rated program on all of cable.

    WWE Unscripted

All these Vince McMahon is a genius chapters. Although I could honestly believe that since he always takes the same damn premise and makes money off it just by repackaging it.

    How do you...

I think I know where you're going with this, so I'm going to step in and kill your dream if I'm right: If you want to sit and splice together a bunch of scenes from video games or anime to make music videos like you see on so many anime sites, you're going to have to get good and comfy with a complex editor like Adobe Premier or something.

    The State of the Media

Limbah will survive. He has a huge market reach, especially in the population-dense areas in the East (yes, the more dense the population, the more likely you'll hear Rush, nyuk nyuk nyuk.) While I suspect he'll hang up his "drug abusers go to jail" belief, I'm sure he'll come up with some way to say that even though he changed his mind, he was never wrong.

    Europeans are worse than cockroaches

Actually, that's all just in one chapter (Chapter 13: "Random Bush Bashing And Namecalling Without Reason") The first 12 chapters are fine. And watch out for the sequel, "Theo-Crazies" coming in bookstores next year.

    The State of the Media

Yeah, tonight it's the battle of the networks: The Jessica Lynch story vs. The Elizabeth Smart story. I'm tired of hearing promos for both. http://www.sfgate.com/chronicle/pictures/2...672-cartoon.gif

    The State of the Media

Some weight should be considered though in the choices the network itself is making in hiring these figures. While I can't say that every station that carries Rush is staffed by conservatives and can't be trusted, check out what MSNBC has done: Scarborough, Savage, Buchanan getting an hour to chat every weekday. There's some intentional thinking behind these choices.

    Europeans are worse than cockroaches

You're an ignorant fool. Do you think someone's attention might be gained by death sentences for "apostates" (defined, among other things, as anyone who renounces Islam for any reason whatsoever) which even family members have a religious duty to execute? Point 1) Did I say one had to go around parading this knowledge? No. You could tell yourself you don't believe in whatever faith and as long as you don't make it well-known to other people, you won't face a backlash. Point 2) Any country that would legally let someone get away with a religion-induced murder is downright loony. This is all covered in my new book which I've been preaching to this forum for months now:

    The State of the Media

I think what JMA means is that in general, left-leaning social policy is more prevalent. It's probably true. I think it's because most people since birth have been taught that sharing is good, Americans ought to be equal, if you can't say something nice about somebody then don't say anything at all, don't hate on the poor/needy/sick, strive for a peaceful world, etc etc etc. A lot of social conservatism is limiting things for the upper class or outlawing things because the Bible said so. There's more to it than that obviously, but I think it's those two common reactions that make people write it off.

    The State of the Media

I need a "kissing government ass, whichever side that may be" option. FNC was rather restrained and a fairly regular visit for me until it looked like someone who shared their view was getting into office. CNN is coming off a lot more moderate with Bush in office, even to some Republicans I've talked to about it. I'll vote moderate right, due to that and due to the huge numbers of Limbaughs and Hannitys and O'Reillys and Savage (who NOBODY in their right mind should take seriously) which fill the airwaves. Take the pundits away and I'd vote only leaning.

What the hell? If you don't believe in it, it's not exactly like you need to pay attention to the tradition of disassociating yourself from it.

Conversely, I have to wonder what kind of precedent the police think they're showing the kids to bring (presumably) live firearms into a school.

Man Hit by Car, Lodged in Windshield

Homeless in Seattle really isn't that bad, actually. I was suprised. And you can like, walk across the street at an intersection without being made into a pancake and shit. By comparison, a Seattle-ite walking through San Francisco would probably demand hazard pay.

    Europeans are worse than cockroaches

Anyone else get a chill up their spine over this sentence? Not really. I think this is running under the assumption that a big majority of the Muslims in Holland will be having multiple children, and that those children will be Muslims. Even then, I think it'll be closer to 50/50, and it's very hard to predict stuff like religion. It's easy to say "everyone is going to trust in their parents' beliefs" but it's not that simple.
