    Jones

John Heidenreigendaigenmaigen shouldn't have been an active part of the roster by this point anyway. Compared to the two previous "fans who become wrestlers" angles, there's usually some impossible challenge or great orderal over the whole thing.

    Britney Bares It Again?

If this is what keeps the demons away, then I'm going to have to keep playing more Beyonce and JC. =b

    Crash Holly passes away

Guys like Crash and Spanky won't be A-Train size, drugs or no drugs. Vince's near-homoerotic obsession with big men has been discussed many times on this board. There's only so much a guy can do to bulk up. And for Slapnuts, who suggested that Shane be the next wrestling death, my suspicions are that Vince himself is going to die a steroid-related death (ie enlarged heart), since otherwise he's a pretty clean guy and I'm not aware of any other bad habits that could be the end of him. It won't be that much longer, and certainly will make a ripple through the office.

He said he didn't like what he saw in the mirror. He said he has a serious complaint about this business. Now, if you were paying a guy who said that, in his heart, he hates his job, would you want him working for you? Probably not unless you absolutely depended on him (not a good sign), and they weren't depending on Piper for anything. What? Working NWA-TNA, ROH, Japan, etc takes more effort, more endurance, I won't say more pain because I have no idea if that's true. The WWE audience is a lot less demanding. Do you think Nathan Jones would main event a program in one of the areas listed above? No. Do you think ROH is going to mark for Rikishi because he can moonwalk? No. In terms of tearing your body to the limit in the ring, WWE is probably one of the better options. The most grueling thing I can think of in WWE that the other feds don't have is the constant touring.

    A Few Things

Anyone remember any positive Reagan quotables? All I can think of is, "Mister Gorbachev, tear down this wall." I'm sure everyone was thrilled to hear "the bombing begins in five minutes," too. I recognize that was supposed to be a joke, but the Commander in Chief joking about that is like the National Guard guy at the airport joking about a hijacking.

Neither of these are direct quotes, but simply examples: Non-offensive: "For too long, Republicans have turned Southerners against our party by using these issues: Race, guns, God and gays." Offensive: "Southerners need to stop voting simply on race, guns, God and gays" Now, the newspapper clipping sounds a lot more like the latter, although we only know he said the "race, guns, God and gays" phrase.

If you know as well as I do that it's all cyclical, then what's the point of calling one group of people bastards for taking their turn.

I don't understand why he keeps choosing the most demeaning way possible to say something that's actually grounded in reality, although the newspaper only direct quotes him on the very end. It's quite possible they added a negative context to those five words?

    Is the draft coming back?

I'm pretty much the antithesis of your average soldier: Badly-pronated feet means I can't walk that far before I'm in tears from pain, took prescribed mood-altering drugs past a certain age that they won't draft you (12, I think?), was labeled Severely Emotionally Disturbed by county mental health, and openly attracted to the same-sex. When I was a kid, my Mom got it in my head that military service was not the way to go because you risked death, and that if the draft ever came back (she feared this a lot in the 80s for whatever reason) to flee to Canada. All that worry was rather needless, as I'm so mentally and physically fucked up that they'd probably want the illegal immigrants before me. =b

But it is the labels that choose which acts get played over and over again! Witness American Idol. The winner gets an RCA contract and is pretty much guaranteed overplayed status on Viacom (MTV/Vh1), CC, Infinity, etc. But let me give you an example of local radio not being much better. Remember the station that can't decide what format they are? Here's what they've played in the last hour: Cher - Believe Bryan Adams - Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman? Patrick Swayze/Wendy Fraser - She's Like The Wind Dido - Thank You Bread - If Savage Garden - I Knew I Loved You Eurythmics - Sweet Dreams (Are Made Of This) John Mayer - Your Body Is A Wonderland Hall & Oates - Sara Smile Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me Peter Cetera - Glory Of Love LeAnn Rimes - Can't Fight The Moonlight (Remix) Phil Collins - Another Day In Paradise Elton John - Tiny Dancer Cher - The Shoop Shoop Song I would guarantee almost all of these things can be heard on a variety of those CC-like stations. Remember me pointing you to an urban legends page debunking it as myth?

Yes. Well, San Francisco proper has quite a few CC stations (I live in a pretty rural corner of the Bay Area though.) One of these CC stations is KNEW, an all-conservative talk station. See, it used to be that ABC Networks' KSFO was the one big right-wing talk station in this area, which makes that "liberal media" shit more pathetic. But anyway, Michael Savage got canned from KSFO and he threw a big hissy fit, so a few months ago Clear Channel pretty much made KNEW and have made Savage and The Media Whore (O'Reilly) their star players. Also, CC is a small investor in XM Satelite Radio (which I've gotten because I don't get the big city's stations and I'm tired of these little local outfits I've been listening to 20 years) and airs a digital rebroadcast of Los Angeles' KISS FM station on there (which kind of defeats the point of XM as an FM alternative, oh well) as well as providing all of XM's talk content. Almost everything on XM's talk is right-wing. XM's lesser-known competitor, Sirius, has "Sirius Left" and "Sirius Right" each one doing talk all day and rebroadcasts at nights. But at least it's both sides. So it's not that CC isn't conservative. I noticed that a long time ago. But I really don't think they're so responsible for the poor state of radio. In my neck of the woods, the radio is locally operated and it's still the same crap. One station can't figure out if it wants to be love songs or adult contemporary, so they play Celine Dion and then Avril Lavigne even though that doesn't have any flow. The top 40 station is playing the same stuff you're hearing on CC. Ditto the country station, the only difference on those two is that their offices and people are centered locally, but aside from the morning shows you'd swear it's still the same crap. The only FM station here that I really like is the classic rock.

    DVD burner...

This is what I have found to be the best solution: Encode the episodes of your TV in Divx AVIs. I found I can capture a good 20-minute (without commercials) program in a 200MB Divx file and it'll look fairly good. Copy these episodes in clumps up to 4.7GB to DATA DVDs. This means you CANNOT WATCH THEM ON TV. However, the quality is decent and you'll be able to fit a lot of episodes onto one disc. Using a video DVD that could be played in regular DVD players, I could only fit maybe five episodes on a disc. Admittedly, they were broadcast-quality episodes, but I'd rather crank it down one notch and fit way more on there. If your goal is to watch movies on your computer on TV, I'd use the TV-Out function of your video card assuming your card has one. I got tired of wasting discs to make S/VCDs I'd only use once and then get rid of.

Guess what, pal? NONE of the radio stations are owned by Clear Channel around here. They own a local TV station (that I can't even watch over DirecTV) but a huge majority of radio in my region is locally owned. IT STILL SUCKS. I'm not saying monopolies aren't bad, but I'm tired of Clear Channel getting so much crap for radio sucking. Go blame the RIAA for pushing so many one-hit wonders.

People can drive through it if that's what you mean. I get the feeling that like Caesars Palace, it will always be under construction. Get ready for The Big Dig's Amusement Fun-Zone, the first 100% underground theme park, opening July 2010!

    Who DESERVES the Democratic nomination?

Not unless champagne bottles are being uncorked as federal money falls from the skies, and I doubt it will. Arnold and Bush are in the same party but operate on two different wavelengths on various issues such as guns, abortion, etc.

That didn't work for me so I'll mention http://www.torrentlinks.com I wouldn't download that Matrix Revolutions vidcam capture or anything else too new, though. The MPAA/RIAA is very well known to visit these places (especially suprnova) and collect IP addresses.

    Let's See Them Defend THIS

I've seen leftist spin (I see it all the time in our Bay Area local news) but the spin from CNN is nowhere near that tilt, nor the tilt of Fox News. This is arguable at times, see the thread about CNN and an Arnold article, but that Arnold article is child's play compared to what the LA Times was doing. Fox's bias issues is a one-two punch. It's not enough that they DO display bias and sensationalize almost as much as the National Enquirer do at times*, but that they wrap it up around slogans like Fair And Balanced, which they're so sure are accurate that they're willing to go to court over it. In other words, Fox will tell you straight-faced that they're the ONLY unbiased news source around. No, if you believe them, they're not biased at all, it's just truth that the Republican method is the correct method 90% of the time and that Bill Clinton can be blamed for almost anything. Basically, Fox is "we're here for you" channel for those who really DO believe in the vast left-wing conspiracy that every mainstream TV channel, newspaper, magazine, radio station, and so on have all been taken over by the Democratic Party in this major sell-out of corporate media that nobody ever saw happen. Generally, I don't find these people to be so smart. So, I guess my problem with Fox is that it caters to idiots. * (remember when "IRAQI CHEMICAL WEAPON PLANT FOUND" quiety became "IRAQI PLANT MAY HAVE BEEN USED FOR CHEMICAL WEAPONS"? Remember when Iraq's first missiles hit Kuwait and Fox was declaring they were illegal SCUDs and they turned out to be short-range Al-Samouds? That was a /really/ bad time for them to do their usual crap.)
