Tried it. Control was awkward and at one point I jumped up off the top of the screen and couldn't find myself.

Oh you poor poor soul! What an immense burden that must be!

I would watch that station 365 days a year if they replaced that flag animation in the corner of the screen with your current avatar.

    OReilly: Media shouldn't support candidates

Franken doesn't accept every question as an attack on his character. When she asked him about the Peabody thing he gave a calm answer. Also, Franken hasn't done nearly the number of outrageous stuff ("SHUT UP FOR THE SAKE OF YOUR FATHER") that O'Reilly has, and thus there's not a lot of that kind of thing to ask. She opened the show by saying this would be a forum for him to respond to what Franken said about him. He went on fine for 30 minutes in a "Franken says that (x) is (y). Your response?" kind of thing, making reasonable responses and making himself seem like a much less confrontational guy then he usually is, but then just went into his normal overdrive. Was she trying to "trap" him? Maybe. Certainly with NPR's reputation that's not entirely out of the question. But was his eruption appropriate? No. He challenged her repeatedly and then stormed off in a huff making sure he had the final say. Savage, Hannity, et al tend to do this a lot, too. He fit the exact description from Franken's book that was quoted earlier. The critics are correct, for O'Reilly has spoken and proved them all right. Now I gotta find out which is funnier, him or you.

Actually, Terry Gross is pretty darn impartial for NPR. Also I just got sent this while talking about it on AIM. LMAO. Regarding the "Shut Up" thing:

Well, the copy on freshair.com is better than the radio in quality and streams really well (they got a lot of bandwith, I guess) but if you can't get to it try billoreilly.com because he's got the thing on his site too appearantly.

So many people are saying nothing but a world of good things about this game that I'm kind of wary of it. That kind of hype is just nigh impossible to live up to.

    Vince Hates Rhyno

Rhyno was in the ring at WM with Team Angle, the Guerreros, and Chris Benoit. ...The crowd usually was pretty quiet when he was in the ring. He was like the weak link in that group. Talk about blowing it since his injury.

Sadly, that quote from the Franken book about "I enjoyed the arguement because Bill O'Reilly bullies guests, and when they stand up for themselves he shoots them down" actually makes me want to buy the book MORE now. And kkk, if you just heard the clip where he asks if she got this indepth with Franken and she says no, then you missed a lot. He starts getting snippy at around :30, getting more and more aggrivated until :51 when he really goes off.

Fred Phelps to put anti-gay monument @ public park

Phelps and crew protested Mister Rogers' public memorial service because his Church didn't hate gays enough for Phelps' approval. See this propaganda for their angle of the whole thing.

Well, Kevin Shelley sent teams of people specializing in detecting voter fraud to all counties using punch card machines, as well as people to several more. Something like 50 guys in all.

And again, there's no corelation betwen what a man can do and what a man should do. If people were like you and didn't approve of him running for a third term, they would have voted for another guy. Nobody should HAVE to do anything because of what George Washington did or didn't do, as long as the law permits it.

For those who can't get enough of the media whore, a friend says his interview on NPR tonight turns into a verbal fistfight, though he starts by being more kind and sincere than he ever is on TV. http://www.freshair.com/ for an online copy.

Eh.. It's temporary. Wait until 2004 and then come over here and let me buy you a drink. Trust me, you're going to need one. (unless Lieberman or Clark wins it anyway. Clark is startin' to bug me because he's coming close to the Dem version of RINO) Actually, Davis should have just friggin' resigned and let Bustamante take his job. But the two guys talked one time since re-election, and dislike each other enough (Davis even took Cruz's exclusive parking spot away one time in a spat that made newspapers for some reason) that they killed their own party. A party that has a million-plus voter edge against a party that was split amongst two candidates. Fucking hell. If I was Art Torres or Terry McAuliffe, I'd be chopping necks right now.

    Confederate Memorial Hall deemed offensive

Which are we talking about again? This thread was originally about the confederate flag and name, and now it's about soldiers. The confederate soldiers can have whatever private memorial they can get. Regardless of how scummy they may or may not be, they were human beings. They were enemies of our country though, and thus I'm not so nuts on public recognition. The flag and Confederacy itself however, did make it's stand on slavery. It's image and history is far more tarnished than the individual men and women inside it. It's message nowhere near as honorable. Keep in mind this is coming from a guy who's grandma owned a confederate flag and either had it flying outside or in her living room. She'd also use every racial put-down under the sun (despite being an immigrant herself and talking about "the old country" every chance she got.) My view is slightly skewed (it used to be further skewed though I've corrected it over time) but I'm not totally unfamiliar with the subject

Well heck, if that's what he wants to believe, fine. I won't stop him. But I will call him stupid and I will draw the line on putting that in the public schools.

http://www.sfgate.com/cgi-bin/article.cgi?...08/MN175872.DTL Arnold on Taxes: "I still believe in lower taxes -- and the power of the free market. I still believe in controlling government spending. If it's a bad program, let's get rid of it." Arnold on Guns: "I don't run around every day with a gun in my hand. So I want kids to understand the difference: One is make-believe, like we do in movies. But in reality, I'm for gun control. I'm a peace-loving guy." Arnold on Gays: "I have no sexual standards in my head that say this is good or this is bad. 'Homosexual' -- that only means to me that he enjoys sex with a man and I enjoy sex with a woman. It's all legitimate to me." Arnold on Gays, pt 2:"When it comes to sex, I don't give a shit what anyone's trip is." Arnold on cloning: "At the moment, they're dealing with it by putting the religious spin on it. I understand that; there are some people who are religiously fanatic, that feel uncomfortable with it. But I think that's also a mistake." He's been pretty consistant on these things though. Most if not all the quotes I put up above are made before he decided to run. I know the guns and gay and cloning ones are. The Republicans in this state are at the very best split on these issues. A number agree with Arnold's positions but don't have the funding. There will quite a lot of Republicans welcoming Arnold's stated positions and expecting him to keep them. Really, not every Republican here is pro-life and hardcore social conservatives. It's just that the ones who are have a lot of friends.

But that's not even true. Creationism is 100% utter complete sheep crap on a stick but you're so stupid you can't see it. Whatever, consider those my closing statements. Back to the motives behind the Civil War, please.

Bustamante's speech is so stupid that Chris Matthews laughed until he had a bellycramp or something it looked like.

You do realize that a recall requires voter signatures, do you not? You do realize that although Davis narrowly defeated Simon, the people who voted for Simon did not appear in droves for this recall initially, do you not? You do realize that this recall was not front page news until a millionaire dumped money into it like mad, do you not? Money, backing, and voter dissatisfaction on this recall (trust me, a lot of people voted for the recall but were not nuts with the idea of having one) casts a large shadow of doubt on having another.

Maybe, maybe not, but I do hope this gives the pro-choice, pro-gay rights people in the party the "I told ya so" that they need to break the fundies' power grip on the party. I know as a Democrat that's a bad thing since it makes Republicans more electable, but at the same time if it keeps fundies' candidates from running, it means they don't risk winning and fucking us up even more.
