When will we get over this? Celebrities, even not-really-that-famous celebrities, are not the same person as Person Claiming To Be Celebrity On Friendster/MySpace.

The Current Events folder. It's a lot like Hitler.
Jobber of the Week replied to The Czech Republic's topic in Brandon Truitt
I've been begging for it for months now. Mike acted at times like he owned the forums. Posts that disagreed with him but didn't really have anything factually incorrect were always met with snippy comments about how much smarter he is than you, because hey, if you were smart, you would be agreeing with him by now. It's like a TV talk show host that tells people "If I cared what you think, you'd have a television show." I have seen him, sometimes, dispute valid information or resort to questioning sources that would be acceptable anywhere outside FreeRepublic just to avoid admitting that he is wrong. When he announced his leaving, I told him that the board would get better, until he would come back because he'll be starved for attention. CE did get much more civil, and sure enough, when almost nobody commented on Mike's Blog for about two months or so, he came crawling back and get the flames he craves. Everyone else in CE, myself included, shares a little bit of the blame for giving it to him, but he's everywhere, so what can you expect? Also, he's the only guy on CE I've seen that insults you for disagreeing with him as he rebuts your arguement. I learned to stop worrying about his attacks, because an insult from him didn't really hurt since I hold him in such a low regard. I dance a little jig because CE no longer has a poster with the "all-talk, no-listen" personality of a partisan radio host, and that's all I got to say about that. MEGADITTOES, Mike, whatever haunt you decide to infest next. -

It's about fuckin' time. Marney may have loudly paraded her opinion to the point where it feels shameful just to disagree with her, but at least I got the feeling she did that on topics that she actually cared about. Mike was the most belligerent bully this forum has ever seen. I got a lot feelings that he didn't care about what he was talking about in a lot of threads, but simply was voicing opposition to troll. Such as the dozen or so gay marraige threads where he "didn't care" about gays or gay marriage but demanded that you wow him with a reason that gay marriage should happen. Dude, if you don't care, why should someone seek your approval? You always knew when it was one of those threads where he had nothing to contribute because his posts would get smaller and smaller and reduce to one-liners. On issues he actually had something to contribute, like the Noam Chomsky thread, his posts would go for miles and miles. -
The network never went anywhere, but it's bloated with RIAA IP loggers and computers uploading false files. Even connecting to the wrong person in a big batch while downloading can mess up your file. And since most the general idiot population does this and doesn't listen to the massive collection of music they're downloading, many of them are sharing bad files and don't know it. It's just all fucked up beyond belief.

Why the hell are people still using the Kazaa/Morpheus/FastTrak networks. It's been as dead as Napster 1 for ages now. Go to Gnutella or something.

One Night Stand To Receive Little Promotion by WWE

It made PPVs more disappointing from a workrate standard, but let's be honest, marks will buy PPVs more for a blowoff than a good match. Good matches do make them anticipate PPVs. -

Hey, the late 2002 SmackDown stuff wasn't bad under Heyman. It wasn't super-excellent, either, but it was nice to see PPV-quality matches on free TV regularly. -

Yeah, but the LAT's constant fire on Arnold has been an entirely other matter. Maybe someone there is just upset that a cheesy one-liner movie star can get a position of power or something, but first they orchestrated the reveal of the groping accusations just before elections and then just the other day they released this drivel. -
Generally, silicon-valley dot-coms are pretty liberal, although until that actually influences the product, I don't have a problem with Google. Have you seen some of the sites that Google calls news? They accept even the nuttiest or most partisan pages on both sides just to avoid the whole bias issue. I also have never seen the "BUSH = HITLER" ads that appeared everywhere on Google ever, either. "LifeSiteNews" certainly doesn't sound like a bastion of impartiality themselves. I'm sure they had their reasons.

Not really, I read the Sun when I'm in town unless there's a column or bit in the R-J that I find amusing (like health inspector ratings or a particular columnist) but I don't find it as outwardly supportive of the far-left lifestyle as say, the Chronicle. SFChron isn't even so often biased in their political news content as it is biased in placement of stories. I swear upon everything sacred, I saw on the third page a large headline story about a hippie who came down from living in the tree he wanted to protect for years and years. Below that, cramped at the bottom of the page with a much smaller headline, was a story about heightening tensions between the US and China. The LA Times is the paper that really throws lefty political bias into their coverage the way that Fox News does righty, IMO. I accidentally bought a copy last month and got depressed about it three minutes afterwards. -
Okay, fair enough. But I think the combination of personal choice and really not doing anything that harmful in adult hands makes it safe enough. I'm not really dedicated to the issue, I don't like pot or cigarettes or anything you smoke really, but the biggest negatives associated with it now wouldn't be a problem if it were legalized, commercialized, and somewhat regulated. The unknowns of the black market are the most threatening things about it. Claims that it actually hurts adults in normal amounts are sketchy at best. Furthermore, everyone I've ever discussed the issue with, even the Freeper neo-con crowd, admit that the inherent dangers of pot come from it being contraband instead of being allowed as part of the free market. Everyone from both wings I've seen is either in favor of legalization or is completely apathetic to the issue. I've never met anyone who says that it should stay illegal or that there's good reason for it. From the tone of your post, it sounds like you hate the archetypical pot user, and so do I. However, I don't let that cloud my judgment of the issue on a right/wrong standpoint.

Anglesault just simply went around trolling every board with a subject he was familiar with to troll, AFAIC. I'm pretty sure I saw a lot of times where he said something just to stir shit.

One paper's lib, one paper (and the major one) is kind of wild-eyes conservative, although I'm not sure if libertarian or neo-con, I've heard it's both ways. Still, it's the one blue county in an otherwise red state. I'll just have to fine-tune my brainwaves from the Bay Area Dome Of Liberal Indignancy to the Vegas one. -
"My penis is only this long. Hard." "Whoa. That explains why you're so intimidated by the gay people, then." "HOLY CRAP THAT MAN'S PENIS IS SO SMALL THAT THE ONLY THINGS EVEN SMALLER ARE JOHN KERRY'S BALLS AND CHRIS MATTHEWS' BRAIN! YA'LL BEST SHOW UP WHEN I CHALLENGE EVERY SINGLE ONE OF YOU BASTARDS TO A DUEL! IT'S MILLER TIME!"

The fun thing is that this year I'm moving to a red state. -
How about that there's no real reason to not legalize compared to some of the stuff on the market today? Pot has got to be healthier than those now-pulled Limbaugh pain pills.

Seems to me that this gives Namco the freedom to do their thing without worrying about blipping out of existance tomorrow. With the EA-style consolidation going on among developers, I don't mind that.

Back at Edwin MacPhisto's place: "Space Station, do you copy?" "Ten-four." "Arm all weaponry towards Kansas. This is a direct order." "Affirmative that. Targeting Kansas." beep... beep.... beep... "Everything is looking good up here, sir. Fire the death ray when ready." FIRE!! "Firing the laser in 3...2..." *THOOM* "What happened? Why is Kansas still there? Hello, is anyone on the other side of this line? Hello?" "Kansas was saved by God. Clearly, this means that the world is only 6,000 years old." "Jerry, I agree completely."

That's just a stupid an observation as saying that people all over California are liberal. Have you ever looked at those red counties? I drive through a few of them on the way to Reno sometimes. It's mostly just bare expanses of land. If you put the population of those counties into a suburbia, you'd see why people say California is so overwhemlingly liberal. -
Who will win the general election then?
Jobber of the Week replied to Vanhalen's topic in Current Events
Actually, that was Kerry's excuse. Dubya's excuse is, "Well, only every intelligence agency in the goddamn world was saying they were dangerous!" My belief is that even if that is so, he seems to be dodging the issue that as the guy who spearheaded the war, he's responsible for this like this just as much as he is nice things like elections, and he refuses to take responsibility for the less PR-friendly parts of his decision.
