  1. I don't really think this UT thing is anything to get ultra worried about. Anyone who thinks he will tap like a bitch to Angle has obviously never seen a UT match. Let's not forget that UT has done his share of jobbing lately. It'll most likely end in a Brock run in of some sort.
  2. Guess what? They decided last year that Brock didn't have to "pay his dues" when they pushed him so insanely hard despite his almost total lack of heat. I was afraid of this. I knew their attention span would wane with Brock the moment he wasn't getting as over as they liked. So essentially all the huge push and jobbing out guys like RVD to him was pointless.
  3. That begs for a smart ass remark like "What heat?" but I agree. Even my dad was wanting Brock to die after smashing Zach. Brock was getting mad heel heat....and now they start jobbing him out? Has he been hanging around RVD on the radio interview circuit?
  4. I have to think they have soured on Brock big time. Let's face facts here: the guy didn't draw much of anything while champion. That said this has to be one of the most bizarre uber heel turns I've ever seen. Since turning heel Brock has been DQed vs. Spanky and Zach, tapped like a bitch to Angle, and got a Last Ride via UT on this show. What a vicious killer heel! I have to wonder....you have Big Show in this match, why is he not jobbing instead of Lesnar? It makes no sense. Eddie is fast becoming the biggest tweener of all time. Why would Chavo mess with Eddie's car though? I guess they could say Eddie didn't visit him while he was hurt or something, or that Eddie wasn't watching his back when he got hurt. Eddie/Cena or Eddie/Chavo....I'm for either.
  5. I will admit that Nirvana's live stuff varies wildly in quality. Particularly the stuff on Nevermind, which makes me wonder how strong it would have been without Butch Vig's production. That said, you can't measure a band in terms of "this guy was a crappy bassist." I mean, if you do that the Beatles wouldn't be a real great band. No one was real amazing on their instruments and Ringo was quite a mediocre drummer. Conversely, Led Zeppelin has one of the best guitarists and drummers I've ever heard...yet not a lot of their actual songs click with me. There are a couple of things I disagree with. First, Dave Grohl is a very good drummer...my god, take away his drumming and In Utero would fall apart into chaotic feedback. Also, Cobain is underrated as a vocalist to anyone who has heard numerous Nirvana CDs. Yeah he does the yelling and screaming stuff, but has numerous styles to fit different material.
  6. Yeah I was about to say, losing didn't hurt Macho at all there considering he left with a huge pop and got his woman back. Besides, once he came back he started putting people away again with the elbow to re-establish it.
  7. Well, I've heard the rumors that Kane would go to SMDN as well to feud with UT. I think that would be a bigger problem for Raw than HHH leaving. Let's face it guys. Do you really think they are going to push RVD at this point whether HHH is there or not?
  8. I voted for Pink Floyd. I have simply never, EVER gotten the huge love of Pink Floyd. Their stuff is just boring as hell to me. Then again, I'm not a drug addict so maybe I am missing out on being stoned and listening to Dark Side of the Moon. I also find Radiohead overrated but since I do have one of their CDs I went with Floyd. What is with with all the Nirvana hate? I think it's mostly due to the 90s being out of style right now, just as much as hair bands and the like were 10 years ago. Mark my words, in another 10 years when there is a retro 90s movement Nirvana will be fashionable again.
  9. Well, if you've ever seen a Jason movie you know better to go in expecting actual scares. With Jason you kinda know he is going to basically kill anyone he sees, so there isn't much suspense. Hell, I find most of his antics amusing more than anything.
  10. Yeah but Dude Where's My Car and Just Married were minor hits at best, and both savaged by critics. Ashton is basically a faux celebrity who is getting a ton of press based on who he is fucking rather than any talent he has. Glad to see Pirates still doing well, it'll run past the Matrix Reloaded fairly soon. Good, it was a better movie anyway. At least I thought so. Jeepers Creepers 2 is coming out next week right? It'll do ok, but how wild would it be for F vs. J to be #1 for 3 weeks?
  11. UT in the main events again...dear god why? Hmmm...that is interesting about Kane/RVD. Makes me think that Shane will do the old run in tonight.
  12. I wouldn't call Kane/Albert a GREAT match, but it was pretty good. Why does everyone just assume Bret is right when he said he totally carried Bulldog? I'm sorry but you can't carry someone to a MOTY ***** classic. "Carrying" has a variety of meanings. For instance Foley says UT carried him in HIAC since he was completely out of it and UT kept it together until he recovered enough. Or it means one guy is having a bad night but his opponent keeps the match cohesive. I recall a match in late era WCW where Rey was blowing stuff yet Chavo kept the match together and it turned into a good match. I'm a bit surprised that Benoit got in while Eddie is only getting 19% or so. There's not a huge gap in talent or drawing power there.
  13. The film has a very hectic unpredictability to it, which also is what I mean about it not following the Scream rules of slasher flicks. I mean, for the first half hour no one dies or anything, then in the next 15 mins 4 of the 5 people just get whacked LIKE THAT! From that point it's just the main chick. No one is left to help her. No cops are around in Shitcreek, TX. The last half hour are unrelenting, it's just crazy. I had no clue what was going to happen next, if she was going to live or die. I kinda disagree about the ending of Leatherface killing her. I mean, if that was going to happen he would have just done it countless times earlier. Whether or not she gets away is in fact irrelevant. The point is: Leatherface and his folks aren't caught and still run amuck.
  14. What is their huge desire for Brock/Angle? I mean, it's not THAT good of a match. Certainly nowhere near important enough to main event two WMs. Stuff like Hogan/Andre and Rock/Austin are big enough matches for that, but not Brock and Angle. That said, I am truly afraid of what they have in mind for the Raw side's main event.
  15. Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Well, if you watch the sequel it says in the opening narration that the girl ends up going catatonic after her horrible experience with Leatherface. That current DVD is such a ripoff. I was very torn whether to buy it for 30 bucks or get a tape for about half that. I went to Suncoast since (to my shock) Best Buy didn't even have it! I might pick up the DVD when it is released, give the tape to my brother. And yeah, that's what I meant but didn't quite say it...the movie was made before the slasher rules were firmly established. That said, tis a shame that blond chick wasn't nude at all. She was smoking.
  16. After seeing Freddy vs. Jason I became interested in seeing the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre, since they had a trailer for the remake. So I went out and bought a copy, having never seen it before. Good God! That movie has to be one of the most terrifying things I've ever seen. I went in expecting something along the lines of Friday the 13th, replete with hilariously cheesy gore and camp value. Wrong. There are really not many people who die in the movie (4 I think) and only 1 was actually killed with the famed chainsaw. What I thought made it terrifying is that it follows almost none of the rules of slasher type films. The people in it don't do anything to "deserve" to be killed (smoke weed, have sex, or say "I'll be right back"). Also, the main chick doesn't get ANY sort of offense or last laugh on Leatherface and Co. Despite the deranged subject matter it seemed quite realistic. Yeah I know they say it was a true story but only the basic connection to Ed Gein robbing graves. For the most part no one needs to worry about a burnt freak haunting their dreams, or a no selling madman in a hockey mask.....but a psycho redneck wielding a chainsaw is quite believable. What does everyone think of the original and the remake that is coming out in October?
  17. I think if RVD hadn't been busting people open back in Oct. 2001 they would have seriously put the title on him. The only real reason was that he was "unsafe" to work with. Also, the WWF was simply unwilling to break away from what they had in mind as a long term plan (HHH coming back to win the title) to actually push someone who was over.
  18. Actually RVD was on a roll and winning against most everyone during the July to October period. I remember the exact moment that RVD's big initial push was over, because I was there. He jobbed to Edge in an IC match to open Raw, just a WEEK after main eventing a PPV for the world title. Clean. I like Edge too, but couldn't help but think something was seriously wrong.
  19. If the Invasion had a serious initial flaw (aside from Bagwell) it would be the idea of WCW as a face faction. I mean the WWF was literally asking for their own fans to cheer the same group that they were programmed to hate for years, and thus boo the guys they liked. But that said, the Invasion still had some truly mindblowing markout moments. How could you not mark out seeing Shane on the final Nitro? Or the wild show with RVD and Dreamer debuting and attacking, leading to the ECW addition to the angle? Or the SMDN with Austin flipping out and wanting to beat up any Alliance guy....only to have RVD walk in (and subsequently win the match). The Invasion actually ended up being a bit BETTER than people thought it would be after the Booker/Bagwell debacle. It just wasn't what people had expected to see after years of wait.
  20. Eh, this whole feud could have been brilliant but feels kinda like it has gone off half cocked. I mean, such a storyline should be epic, spanning over a year. Instead we had the initial feud with Angle hurt at WM, then they are buddies, then Brock turns on him...and this is in the span of about 4 months! Angle and Lesnar never established any sort of Megapowers dominanace that would make the heel turn so shockingly effective. And to me it seems like none of the roles these guys are in quite work. Lesnar is a mediocre face at best, so him chasing heel Angle didn't rise to anything special. Heel Brock is better but I've never been too thrilled with Angle as a face (he has always been a bit smarmy and insincere to me). Anyway the match itself at SS should be good enough but I doubt it'll be MOTY or anything.
  21. Elimination Chamber: There are almost literally no good choices here. Jericho should win, he's the least of 6 evils. Brock/Kurt: This has all the makings of a DQ. Kurt just won the title last month, Brock just turned heel. Let this build a bit more. UT/Albert: UT has been jobbing of late, no way in hell he would job to Albert at a SS. UT wins. Shane/Bischoff: Bisch just beat him on Raw, Shane will win here of course. Dudleys/La Resistance: La Res with the run in from Conway. Eddie/Benoit/Rhino/Tajiri: I'm torn. If Eddie loses the title he won't be pinned. Maybe have Benoit win it and then Eddie wins it back at the SMDN in El Paso? RVD/Kane: I'll go on a limb and say RVD gets a flukish win after being killed the whole match, then gets killed postmatch.
  22. I will actually go out on a line here and say Eddie will win it first and do so likely by year's end.
  23. I think a Michael/Pinhead movie would tank. It would be seen as a blatant ripoff of F vs. J, and Myers really hasn't had much box office appeal since about 1981. Have any Hellraiser movies done much at the box office? I watched Army of Darkness today and I have to say adding Ash to the mix is a great idea. In F vs. J I think a human character that people give a crap about was sorely needed. It was a heel/heel matchup, although I guess Jason was a pseudo face. Ash would be the regular guy character that the audience could get behind as he battles both maniacs. Can you imagine him exchanging cracks with Freddy?
  24. I will be honest about this: I never figured the WCW invasion would get over. The outcome was never in any doubt. The WWF OWNED WCW, so there was no suspense as to who would win. The reality of the situation is that most of the quality WCW talent from their peak was already IN the WWF by the time of the Invasion (Jericho, Eddie, Benoit, etc). The only scenario an Invasion would work in is if the WWF and WCW did a huge angle circa 1998. Both companies were fairly equal in ratings at that point, but the politics behind the scenes would make it impossible. In short, the Invasion was probably something best left in the "What If?" category.
  25. I am a big RVD fan and have seen most of his great work, and can tell you he has certainly been in more than ONE good match. I still say the Bigelow match is his best match and a huge markout match the first time someone sees it. But lemme go over the list someone put up: Vs Jerry Lynn, Living Dangerously '99. Pretty good match, hated the retarded booking. Good match though. Vs Jerry Lynn, Hardcore Heaven '99. It was good but this is the epitome of the "RVD stall" match. Vs Ballz Mahoney, Anarchy Rulz '99. Pretty uninspired, saw them have better on free TV. Vs Sabu, Guilty As Charged '00. Sabu was basically finished at this point, they've done better on free TV. Vs Jerry Lynn, Hardcore Heaven '00. Good match, horrible finish with Anton turning. Vs Scotty Anton, Heat Wave '00. Nothing match aside from the debut of the Van Terminator. Vs Rhino, Anarchy Rulz '00. Just average, they didn't wrestle each other enough to develop chemistry. Vs Jerry Lynn, Guilty As Charged '01. The usual good match, no stupid booking. Vs Jeff Hardy, InVasion. This ruled, RVD took out all of the stalling and condensed it into 15m or so of goodness. Vs Jeff Hardy, Summerslam '01. Quite good as well, just the one crazy missed spot that was impossible. Vs Chris Jericho, Unforgiven '01. One of RVD's best. He actually sold brilliantly here, and the match had a variety of styles (technical, hardcore, high flying). Vs Eddie Guerrero, Judgement Day '02. This was also very good, and underrated. Has a sadly forgotten moment of Eddie brilliance as they both stare at each other after a double KO and Eddie just screams like a psycho and charges at RVD! Vs Chris Benoit, Summerslam '02. I didn't care much for this match, it was too slow going for an RVD match. And yes, he didn't sell the shoulder. So in short, while not all of those were mat classics RVD has easily been in his share of very good matches.
