http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=135692 So, apparently MOC has decided that Zhamnov, Leetch and Mrs. Gill are more important than two building blocks in Boynton and Razor since he hasn't given either one of them decent qualifying offers. Boy, I love MOC and his poor management skills. The guy couldn't manage his way out of a paper bag.

I've had some account problems with yahoo lately and when I went on to start draftin', I discovered that my account was deleted/suspended and I was no longer a part of said leagues. So, blame yahoo. Fuck 'em up their stupid asses.

PJ Brown got an MVP vote, didn't he? That has to count for something! And I'm not criticizing or anything, but I'm kind of surprised that Shaq isn't playing. He was in LA after the storm hit, helping as best he could, but I expected him to be involved.

Are we talking McCarver levels? I may have to watch some HNIC to see/hear just how bad this is.
-
Bob Cole and Harry Neale? The horror... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Aren't they both well past senility? I'd know, but I don't get many HNIC broadcasts in South Florida...

I usually grow out stubble until it becomes too scratchy and then I shave it. I'm'a start growing my beard now. I just shaved this morning.

Hockey Night in Canada? Even so, as long as they keep the same engine and don't tinker too much, it's worth the money. NHL 2K5 smoked NHL 2005.

Turkey, ham, roast beef with swiss and american cheese with mayo and honey mustard and lots of oil and vinegar. Mmm...sandwich.
-
Incorrect. NHL '94 smokes it. I'll probably get both, but I'll have to play a demo to be sure. If ESPN makes a few tweaks on their previous game, they'll be the better game.

I'll probably remember him most for his role on the 1992-93 Canadiens. He was absolutely brilliant for them in the postseason. Debate: Is Vinnie Damphousse a Hall of Famer? He is 38th all time in points, but never cracked 100 in a season. He was never the best player on his team. He was never the best player in the league. It's an interesting thought. EDIT: I'm playing with the Keltner list, which is primarily used for baseball usually, but I'm a bored man tonight. 1. Was he ever regarded as the best player in baseball? Did anybody, while he was active, ever suggest that he was the best player in hockey? Probably not. He was a very good role player and seemingly enjoyed the postseason. 2. Was he the best player on his team? The argument could be made that for most of his five seasons with the Leafs and his one season with the Oilers that he was the best on his team. Once he went to Montreal, there was some guy named Patrick Roy. Once he hit the Sharks, they had Nolan and Selanne. 3. Was he the best player in at his position? Was he the best player in the league at his position? No on both counts. The best center in the league was some guy named Wayne Gretzky and the best wing in the league was between a number of guys. 4. Did he have an impact on a number of pennant races? Yes. He played an integral part in the Montreal Canadiens run in 1992-93. He helped the Sharks upset the Blues in the first round of the 1999-00 playoffs the year the Blues won the Presidents Trophy. 5. Was he good enough that he could play regularly after passing his prime? Damphousse will be retiring at the age of 37. He has been a force for the Sharks for the last six seasons. 6. Is he the very best player in history who is not in the Hall of Fame? No. I think Dino Ciccarelli is better (and that's off the top of my head) 7. Are most players who have comparable statistics in the Hall of Fame? I think so. 8. Do the player's numbers meet Hall of Fame standards? Damphousse ranks 38th all time in total points. 9. Is there any evidence to suggest that the player was significantly better or worse than is suggested by his statistics? Outside of the 2000-01 season, Damphousse was pretty much free of injuries. 10. Is he the best player at his position who is eligible for the Hall of Fame? No. Pierre Turgeon has better numbers. 11. How many MVP-type seasons did he have? Did he ever win an MVP award? If not, how many times was he close? Never won an MVP outside of the 1990-91 All-Star game MVP. 12. How many All-Star-type seasons did he have? How many All-Star games did he play in? Did most of the players who played in this many All-Star games go into the Hall of Fame? He was an All-Star four times, injured for one game and was replaced. Pierre Turgeon has also been selected to four All-Star teams. 13. If this man were the best player on his team, would it be likely that the team could win the pennant? No. Damphousse excelled as a second line player. 14. What impact did the player have on history? Was he responsible for any rule changes? Did he introduce any new equipment? Did he change the game in any way? Not really, no. 15. Did the player uphold the standards of sportsmanship and character that the Hall of Fame, in its written guidelines, instructs us to consider? As far as I know. Too many question marks for Damphousse. I don't think he'll make it.

I don't know if I have a memorable moment so far this season. I didn't watch the Superbowl, the Red Sox have been very good, if not lacklustre so far. A few walk-off homers, probably most notably Ortiz's two this year so far. If I were really pressed, I'd say some of the NHL signings have been completely off the wall (Forsberg to the Flyers, the Heatley/Hossa trade). For biggest disappointment so far, I'd say the Red Sox/Yanks v. American League. The AL is a complete toss-up and it worries me as a Sox fan.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=135574 Vincent Damphousse set to announce his retirement. Not a bad career for him, he just couldn't seem to find any work.
-
My man crush on David Ortiz is completely justified, right?
-
Isn't Lowell in a contract year? I thought only Derek Lowe was crazy enough to tank his contract year. And Lackey needs only 8 pitches to retire the side in the bottom of the sixth. He went from Matt Young to Cy Young within the span of eight minutes.
-
John Lackey with one of the worst and slowest innings of my entire life escapes only allowing two runs. He gave up a single to Damon, walked E6, walked Ortiz, walked Manny forcing in a run, threw a wild pitch to Nixon getting in another run and then "beared down" to get Nixon and Mueller to finally end the inning. This process took 25 minutes and around 35 excruciatingly slow pitches.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=135528 Scott Stevens announces his retirement to spend more time with his family. Boy, the Devils are certainly fucked. Colin White is probably their best defenseman not named John Madden right now.

I watched it and saw nothing interesting. Must have been a different episode. What was the segment you saw? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> A&E lied to me. My info said that it was the episode where Jack saves Audrey and Sec. Heller from the terrorists. -

Everyone check the replay of the episode at midnight eastern. This is the episode with the single greatest opening sequence in the show's history. -
I don't have one anymore, but it might be the write-up that they had on Millar in ESPN the Magazine, where he called Manny cheap:
-
I didn't get to see the Red Sox game, but Wells's stats look good for this game. Maybe they should start suspending him in between all of his starts.
-
Edgar Renteria makes his 24th error of the year, but Timlin pitches around it, allowing two in the ninth for the 7-6 win. Kebah Meelah hit a two run homer to tie it at three, and Ortiz iced it in the seventh with a homer. So, the lead is back to 3.5 in the East.
-
24 is still on mondays, I think. I'll be watching that. Other than that, I guess SVU when there's nothing else on.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=135348 Bondra made a counter-proposal to the Crapitals. Also, Mike Dunham signed with the Thrashers.
