John Grahame is an AHL-lifer. Back-up at best. Tampa needs to get on the CuJo bandwagon quickly.

Steroids are negatively effecting the sport, yes. However, it's not news and shouldn't be reported because someone may have passed a drug test. What if they report that Derrek Lee is clean and they push him to the moon as "The new face of MLB...he's not cheating" and so on and so on. What if D-Lee tests positive for steroids next month? What does that say about MLB? Drugs negatively effect sports, but you don't see NBA reports of "Damon Stoudamire tests negative for marijuana!" because it's not news. News is when something happens that isn't supposed to happen. If Raffy didn't test positive for whatever he took, he wouldn't be in the news as much. Pujols doesn't test positive for the juice, so he's reported on as a good player, arguably the best in the game. There's no need to release whether or not Albert passed his test. Since we haven't heard the name linked to the juice, we just assume that he's not on them. Basically, you think that MLB will be better if they released everyone's test results after they took them. There's a huge privacy issue there. Believe it or not, there's a privacy clause in the testing contract that only allows players to discuss the tests if they want to. MLB isn't allowed to do anything but test players and suspend them for failing. Releasing the test results, no matter how good it makes MLB look, is stupid.

As is the case in pro sports more often than not: No news is good news. I'd prefer to keep it that way. If an athlete goes out of his way to do something good, I expect that to be reported. However if an athlete passes a test that he's expected to pass, that's not news. No matter how negative the media is, it's not news that Derrek Lee knows better than to go on the juice. It's not news that Albert Pujols knows better than to start tinkering with drugs.

I'm wearing my Bulls #91 Dennis Rodman jersey
the max replied to Matt Young's topic in No Holds Barred
I haven't bought a new jersey in a while. The last one I bought was a grey Red Sox youth jersey for the girlfriend. I mostly wear my hockey sweaters as well. My old-school Sabres Hasek gets a lot of wearing, as does my Nordiques Sakic. -
Nah, she's trying to move files from the old computer to the new one. Google network setup. You should be able to wire them together and take what you need.

Athletes are expected to pass their drug tests. It's not news when something happens that's expected to. It'd be like reporting in the paper everyday "Sun rises in East!". It's not news since it's expected to happen. However, if one morning, the sun rose in the West, it'd be news and I'd expect it to be covered.

Manny "Man-Ram" Ramirez.
-
Not really. Does anyone else want him?
-
Sue him.

He was so close to playing for the Devils...I mean, one state away.

I've always wondered what crunk meant. Hyper-active? Like that song "get some crunk in your system" means...get hyper-active?

With the players moving to where they're moving, this almost feels like a fantasy draft.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, this saddens me too. They gave up a lot for Gonchar and didn't really get much in return, aside from a decent playoff series against Montreal.

He testified in front of Congress in March.

Why? What did he do in Boston to make a team think that he'd be a valuable addition? I agree on 3 of the 4 ... I'd take Thornton over Samsonov, personally. Raycroft is our goalie of today AND tomorrow, so he's a must-have. Bergeron is amazing for his age and will only get better. Gonchar is the kind of offensive defenseman that'll come up huge in the new, offensive NHL. But Joe, I think, has more upside than Samsonov. Joe's a first liner, Sergei's a second. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sergei's battled injuries, which doesn't really help his cause here, but he's had a better attitude than Joe, who has been expected to be a franchise center and has yet to deliver big. Plus, with the team seemingly getting faster and focusing more on the offensive end, which is where Sergei is most dangerous, I'd like to see him signed over Joe. If they think they can get Joe for one more season, I'm for it, but I don't want him around long term.

Cici's fucking rocks, dude. All-you-can-eat pizza for 3.99$. I'm less familiar with the East Coast as someone who actually lives there (VX), but if you're in Lauderdale or Miami, check out the local digs for food. I learned when I moved down here a few years ago that the local hole-in-the-wall places make excellent Mexican/Cuban food. Not so much for pizza, I stick to the chains (Domino's). Since you're in Miami, check out a Marlins game. If you come over to my side, don't check out a Devil-Rays game. EDIT: Yes, VX. University of South Florida is located in Tampa, on the west side in the center of the state. It should be called UCF for University of CENTRAL Florida or something.

They had him before in the mid-90's, I believe. The irony is that he was traded to the Bruins from Pittsburgh in exchange for Glen Murray. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It definitely looks like the B's are trying to pick up some talent. Even Scatchard's a good signing, he scored 27 goals or so just a few years ago. If he can give the B's 15-20 goals this year I'll be pleased. McEachern's pretty much just a depth signing, I can't see him getting major minutes unless he gets some PK time. Murray's the big one, though, and I really can't believe that they brought him back. I'm just praying that Thornton sees the light and decides that it's not that bad here and signs for fair money. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Scatchard is a good signing. I like him. He's pretty good defensively and a good two-way player. McEachern is a local boy, so I'd assume he just wanted to play close to home. I haven't seen anything about Joe, but if they can ink Raycroft, Gonchar, Samsonov and Bergeron, I don't care about Joe.

MUZZ SIGNS WITH THE BRUINS~! Holy mother of fucking god, they actually made a good move!! I'm stocking up canned goods and heading for a shelter!!
-
I'd welcome Modano, even though I don't like him. He's an elite player with skills that the Bruins could use. Plus, Joe doesn't seem too warm on returning...

Will the Yankees sign Sele? I think so.

$75k/yr Canadian though.

A-Rod could end up doing it. I wonder if Bonds regrets using Dr. Artie Ting instead of a real doctor.
-
I feel bad for Pedro Gomez. It appeared that he was walking into a "Making History" thing, but he's been forced to cover Bonds. Anyone surprised that Bonds is out for the season?
