Porter, it's best to not ask, just ignore Bob. Anywho, glad that Clement appears to be OK. It was nasty to watch, especially since the ball landed all the way in left field. And the Red Sox won the game to boot, which is always nice. Schilling seems to be struggling in the pen, hopefully he comes around soon...

No Mercy only had the advantage in the newer stuff. Ladder match and c-a-w were something that Revenge didn't have. However, given the choice (and I have made the choice), I take Revenge over NM simply for the gameplay. It's harder to wrestle the different styles rather than just struggling to pick up fat people. I have Revenge and not NM.

I like the Minnesota scheme...

It's funny that I think of the Wild as more of a respectable franchise than the Stars, even though the Stars won a Cup.

Stock didn't really add anything to the team other than fighting. His business was fighting and waving to the crowd before getting tossed in the box, right?
-
Additionally, as much as I enjoy having two hockey teams to get a chance to watch, there's only a need for one team down here. Since the Lightning have been successful, people will occasionally talk about them on sports talk radio, but the Panthers are widely ignored, even on Sunshine State Sportscenter Updates on each hour. It's almost like nobody cares, although they haven't really been given a reason to in almost 10 years. They could contract the Panthers and I doubt anyone would even care. The only reason for watching them is for Roberto Luongo and imagining just how good he's going to end up being with a good defense in front of him.

Grapefruit. I can't stand it. Not to eat, not to drink, just ugh. Also, I hate the macaroni and cheese that you need butter and milk for, but that's just pure lazy on my part. I buy the Velveeta kind with the cheese sauce in it.

Maybe the Pads could swing a three-way deal with Houston or something to get Nevin out of town. Towers doesn't like him and I'm sure he's not too warm on him now, since they could actually use Ponson on their team.
-
Gammons just said that he got the impression that Nevin would rather go west coast or to Houston (where Nevin lives). He said that the problem is with Houston being unable to give the Pads what they want; Pitching. He also said that the Mets should get Soriano, but Texas is asking for two major league players and two prospects and the price might be too high. Then again, this team also traded one of its best prospects for Victor Zambrano...

Boston's attendance is weird to me, because it's a sports town. Actually, it's a sports area. I went to a PawSox game when I was up there in May. It was 45 degrees outside and the place was fucking PACKED. But, I agree with nl5 here about Jacobs being a cheap prick and that causing the attendance problems.
-
Hatcher is overrated. Brisebois, and nl5 might kill me for this, I'd like to see wearing the black and gold. He's a good passer, is sound defensively, and might just need a change of scenery. Imagine getting a chance to shove it down Montreal's throat by actually playing a physical game? The B's have physicality, they need some good defensemen. They have a good opportunity here. Savage is a good fit for a young team that needs veteran presence, like Atlanta or Columbus. McCarty shocked me. He seemed to fit on that team forever, and I figured he'd retire there. I would think that a lot of teams would be lining up to sign him. Whitney can fit anywhere.

Maybe not the die-hards, who will come back eventually, but the casual fan. You know the one that asks you what icing is, what a slash is, why they just stopped playing, etc. Casual fans like high-scoring games.

Personally, I agree with Bob in that I like ties and defensive hockey. HOWEVER, they have to think about the health of the sport and bringing back fans who felt alienated and stabbed in the back. Shoot-outs, rule changes and more offense don't guarantee this happening, but they at least give the NHL a better shot of getting more fans back than returning the same crappy product that they had before.
-
No, I have a car.
-
Hockey's back, and they have to do whatever they have to in order to get casual fans back. I'll deal with shootouts.
-
I wouldn't be surprised to see LeClair retire. He's getting on in age, and has had injury problems in the last few seasons. I don't think he's going to, but I wouldn't be surprised if he did. Amonte is a good fit for someone like Minnesota. They desparately need another finisher besides Gaborik. And while he's in his mid-30's, he still has wheels and a good shot.

Max is confused by this thread.

Too bad they don't exist anymore...

It'd be funny if the Eagles told him to not even worry about it. Hell, the only reason he'll be attending camp is so that he won't be fined.
-
Yes it was. Here's a guy who's compared most favorably to Mario Lemieux...who just happens to own the Penguins, where Sidney's headed. It just wasn't rigged in the way that you wanted. And look at how good that did the Flyers. 0 Cups after giving away 6 players and around 4 million in cash. OK, let me get this straight. Since Glen Sather can't control his spending, it becomes the NHL's fault? Did the NHL make Sather sign Holik to that contract? Did they force Sather to trade for Jaromir Jagr and his bloated salary? Nope. Blame Sather for his ineptitude. Unless you live in the big cities, those teams are always hated by the rest of the league because they are seen as more successful in that they can lure free agents there easier. That last part can be said about any franchise in North America. And I hate to break it to you, but the Rangers haven't mattered worth shit in the last 7-8 years because they haven't been a serious contender. Probably. And good, since there are teams who haven't won in longer.

How is Raffy Palmeiro's hoops game? He seems tall and able to get a fair amount of points.
-
Dunno if Stephen Lynch counts. If he does, he gets my vote.

This may sound stupid, but have you cleaned your mouseball and keyboard or checked their ports on your computer? There might be a build up of gunk in the mouseball or the plug might be loose.

Oddly, I'm between 1 and 3. I am happy that they're back because I love the game, but at the same time I'm pissed that they wasted an entire season because Goodenow can't do his fucking job.
