Unless your name is Steve Bartman. Then you're responsible for an entire team's collapse.

    New Yankee Stadium

The funny thing is that the local moron on talk-radio has declared that since the Red Sox try so hard to be the Yankees that they'll have to "1-up" the Yanks by building a newer, better Fenway Park. The question is...why? People don't want a new Fenway, they just wanted additions made to the old one. Eventually, they're going to have a build a stadium, but not to compete with the Yanks over who has the biggest armrests, etc. That said, as much as I don't like the Yanks, Georgie is funding this with his money, without raising holy hell with the taxpayers and whatnot and that I like.

The Twins lost that series more than the Yankees won it. Had Gardenhire used Nathan properly, the Twins would have all but gone to the ALCS, since they would have won the two in New York.

Now that hockey's R&D camp is over

Every sport goes by points if you want them to. Assign two points for every win and there's points for the standings. Hockey's point system is a good way to have it, since it creates interesting matchups in the playoffs that are easier to understand for casual fans (like my girlfriend, who doesn't like the 'games back' in baseball, but understands hockey's points)

Now that hockey's R&D camp is over

Yeah, if they go to shootouts in the playoffs, they've lost me forever. But I don't think they can be THAT stupid. And while I'm with nl5 in that I don't mind ties, I'm thinking of the casual fan here. Go to a shootout in the regular season, except maybe in the last week of the season or something, when points really matter for teams that are on the bubble of making it in, that way they can still get a point or something.

Now that hockey's R&D camp is over

Not mentioned (not that it has to be) is the Saddington Bear Bruins 3rd that makes 95% of fans want to gouge their eyes out at the very sight of it. I'm not a fan of shootouts, since I wouldn't ask football to decide a game by taking turns to kick field goals or a baseball game to be decided by a homerun derby. However, since the NHL's name has been essentially whittled to nothing, we have to start somewhere. As long as the sanctity of the game is kept in the playoffs (meaning NO SHOOTOUTS IN THE PLAYOFFS) I have no issue with them being introduced. RE: Lines and nets. I posted this over on another board, as it is my interpretation of the new "Sinden rules" or something. I heard on the radio that they tested this and the refs really only needed their whistle to call penalties and out-of-plays. Basically, as I understand it, once you cross your defensive blueline you are free to pass without getting called for a two-line pass (since there's no red line). This, to me, opens up the game since teams like Jersey can't trap you as much and force you into making a high-risk pass that turns into a turnover and a chance for them. RE: Offsides/No-touch icing. I'm for 'em. Offense needs to return to the game. As for other things, I'm not a fan of the shorthanded goal counting for two, since this isn't a sport where goals are easy to come by and that's a potentially crippling type of thing to happen in a game. It's bad enough to give up a shorty as it is, it'd be even worse if that was a bonus shot. I might have been one of the few fans who didn't mind dark jerseys at home... My only gripes with the marketing is that ESPN seemed to ignore the fact that there is a team in Ottawa, ONT, Canada. They go by the name of the Senators. But you wouldn't know that they play a regular season game, since they were never televised until the playoffs. That has to change. There are young stars all over the NHL. I'm not saying that any of them can singlehandedly bring the NHL out of this mess, but certainly players like Nash, Gaborik, Iginla, and Luongo can help.

How much one guy can hate Reggie Jackson

Born in 1983. Reggie's career ended in 1987, when I was four.

You're forgetting that this is the same fanbase that thought they could deal Jason Giambi to Oakland for Tim Hudson before the season started.

I'm sorry son, but you must have me confused with someone else. My name is Roger Murdock. I'm the co-pilot.

Anyone ever been on a Gameshow?

My girlfriend was a finalist/runner-up to get on the show 'Legends of the Hidden Temple'. She didn't make the cut though.

    Happy Anniversary

Classic Florida Panthers on FSN until baseball season started. They played the 03 All-Star game (the one that was in Florida), which was one hell of a good game. They also played a crappy game that Pavel Bure got his 400th goal in. Other than that, I've been pining for hockey.

Olympics to get rid certain sports...

They have talent, but they just seem to balance it enough with guys whose talent has dissolved. Kazmir, Crawford, Baldelli, Upton, Young, and Niemann are very good to great prospects. But they can't field a team on potential, they have to play it out. The chances of all six of these players making the impact they are expected to can't be good.

Olympics to get rid certain sports...

Lots of history in those...eight years. Seriously, getting rid of Olympic baseball would be like contracting the Devil Rays. Both in terms of how old the teams are (the Devil Rays came into existence in 98) as well as the quality of baseball on the field. Except Carl Crawford.

    This Week In Baseball

Red Sox take 2/3 from Anaheim. Would have been a sweep had the pen not blown up yesterday. Miller looked ok, not sharp at all. A lot of first pitch balls didn't help him either, since he was pitching from behind in the count for a while. Off to St. Louis for the World Series rematch and onto Chicago for the perennial losers series. Wakefield v. Morris on tuesday.

    NEWSRADIO IS BACK!

My favorite was the white guard that always gave Bill a hard time (the one that's not Tone Loc) commenting on the hats that Mr. James gave out for Xmas. They were walking out to the parking garage as he was about to give out the Miata's, and the white guard says "Above average hats, sir!" as Mr. James walks by. I still use that line. Moreso now that I have the episode on dvd.

    Your current cell phone wallpaper

I have a crappy cell phone. The screen is the same color scheme as the original game boy. It doesn't take pictures, or allow them to be downloaded, so my girlfriend drew a dirty picture with text. 8==D ~o ( That's my banner.

Things in life that annoy you.

How about slowing down on the highway, lest you want to be smeared all over the asphalt and create ANOTHER traffic jam while onlookers watch them scrape you off the road. How about fast drivers that get in the right lane while I'm going 75 (already five over the limit) and ride my ass, honk and flash their lights at me should be run off the road. And passing a semi isn't the safest thing in the world to do, since I watched a semi lose control and almost take out a minivan 35 feet ahead of me. So in turn, slow the fuck down.

    More bad news

Well, my eyes are pretty bad at times so it can be kind of hard for me to see the puck all the time (especially from the default broadcast cam near the press box) so I started doing the thing where I followed the action around the puck. And I hate NASCAR too.

    More bad news

I always tell people not to look for the puck, but the action around it. If the puck's not where the action is, chances are, you're going to see something good anyway.
