    World Series 2004

Give Foulke the night off tonight and let Timlin take the 9th as well. I'm still just, like, in awe. I'm speechless. They're about to go up 3-0.

This is all a dream, right? I'm going to wake up tomorrow morning and they'll have been swept by the Angels, right?

You don't have to pick a team. You can ignore the series, like most of America did. Hell, I mostly did, and I LIKED the Marlins for most of the season. But "I have to pick a team" is just silly. Especially after you've cheered for the Red Sox. Like I said, it's morally wrong.

Even so, the fact that you so much as cheered for the Yanks after rooting for the Red Sox is just morally wrong. Doesn't matter what grudge you have against ownership.

See this is why I hate people like you. You root for the Red Sox, but when they lose, you cheer for the fucking Yankees. Talk about a bandwagon jumper.

    World Series 2004

Maybe it's just me from being down here, but there were quite a few bandwagoners, as I had to sell them jerseys to wear to the game that they had tickets for, even though they didn't know five players on the team. Seriously, here's an actual conversation: "I'm looking for a Marlins jersey" "All I have left is Juan Encarnacion" "Is he any good?" "Sure, why not" "What position does he play? He's a pitcher right?" "No, he plays rightfield" "Are you sure he doesn't pitch?" "Positively, sir" It gets frustrating that I would have LOVED to go to a World Series game and would have appreciated it a hell of a lot more than any of those fucks.

    World Series 2004

A lot of bandwagoners came out and bought shirts, hats and jerseys down here after they won. I picked up a Marlins game hat with the patch on it, but that's because I like their cap and think it looks sharp with the patch on the side. I eventually picked up a Marlins Champs shirt and hat for a total of 4 dollars after the hype died down.

    World Series 2004

I've had the same Red Sox hat since I was 14. I should take a picture of this thing. I swore I'd stop wearing it whenever they won a World Series... Of course, I splurged $30 on a Red Sox cap with a World Series patch on it. And over $50 for an AL Champs hat and shirt. But, I'm exempt because I've been a fan since I can remember. As for jumping on the bandwagon, this is no different from every postseason, when people jump onto one team's bandwagon and claim that they've loved the team since, like, forever. It has happened with every non-Yanks winner of the last 10 years. People like the Red Sox not only because of the Yanks feud that they have, but because they're a good team with likeable seemingly normal guys.

Why do they introduce the batboys and locker room personnel? "Ladies and gentlemen, the guy that grabs players's bats and balls, JOSH THE BATBOY!!" Our morale wouldn't be crushed. I'm honestly expecting only one win out of this trip to St. Louis.

How can they put Beltran there if they haven't signed him yet?

The Countdown to Beltran with Yankees Topic

I'd guess that they'd stick Matsui in center and Old Man Bernie in left. And you want reliable starters, even though Jon Lieber was a postseason starter...interesting. Not saying he didn't do a good job, but he wasn't really reliable before the playoffs. I can see the Yanks overpaying for Wells.

    Seventh Inning Stretch

Take Me Out, but only when either the fans sing or someone leads them (ala Wrigley). My goal is to see a sausage race in Milwaukee too. That's a cool and fun idea.

    World Series 2004

Just a few more than the Cubs gained last season. Of course, I've been a fan since I can remember, so if they win this, I don't know what I'll do. I know I'll get a tattoo, but after that, I have no idea. Part of me wants the Red Sox to finish this in 4 or 5 because I don't think I want to see the city react when/if they win at home. They beat the Yanks in New York and the moron mick Boston cops killed a girl that didn't even do anything to them. I shudder when I think about what might happen to the city. At least if they clinch in St. Louis, there can be some kind of order kept. As for last night's game, I keep muttering to myself that any other year and the Red Sox mistakes result in them giving up runs. When Edmonds popped up in foul territory and neither Mueller or Tek could catch it, any other season Edmonds homers later in the at bat. Not this year. There's something different about this team. They make their breaks, capitalize on their opportunities and get the big hits when it's needed. This is a different team.

The ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

That would rip the White Sox off... I can see why you'd like to make it. Get this: Giambi is the Yanks responsibility.

    NFL Week 7

21 wins in a row? That's pretty good, especially for a sport that only plays once a week.

Exactly, the Yankees have nothing to do with this World Series. Neither does choking yet, as St. Louis didn't have a lead in the game so how can they choke?

The ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

Read the rest of the post: Sorry, but paying someone that kind of money to "develop into an ace" is laughable.

The ALCS: New York Yankees vs. Boston Red Sox

I was talking to a Yanks fan that I work with, who truly believed that the Diamondbacks would trade Randy Johnson straight up for Jason Giambi. I still giggle everytime I think about it. The only player that has value, imo is Vazquez, who I think underperformed because of the insane pressure put onto him with the huge contract and the fact that he plays in New York. He could bring in a player or two, if someone is dumb enough to take his huge contract. I'm wishing that the rest of the owners refuse any trades with the Yanks and watch Cashman and the rest of his goons try to fix the problems that they have without getting anyone in return.

    Beggars can't be choosers

Most of the places that I've come across in southwest Florida are becoming go in and pay first stations, even with credit cards as there have been a lot of drive offs lately. I hate going in to pay first because the pump slows down at 25 cents before you hit the dollar amount that you paid for, and it takes too long for it to finally pump the rest of it.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that people are starting to make dimensions for a David Ortiz statue.
  24. Maybe I am. Maybe I've just had the story misrepresented to me. But from every news report I've heard, the girl more or less knowingly put herself in a position where bad things were going to happen. It's sad that she died, but a little bit of common sense would have prevented it. Hardly. Because common sense would tell her to not go out at all. But that's certainly not fair to her that because a couple of dumbfucks decided to get out of control even though they likely know nothing about baseball that she should have to stay inside. She was out with friends, and one of the insanely stupid Boston cops decided to fire a projectile into a crowd of fucking people. THERE'S your common sense. Could she have been in a safer place? Maybe, maybe not. Now, I'm not currently in Boston, but I have a pretty good idea of what the city is like, better than you do, and I can safely say that a majority of the city was likely in a simular state to Landsdowne. Maybe not as hectic, but if she's in that area of town, chances are that that entire end of town is going to be a fucking zoo. Is she innocent? I don't think so, but she didn't deserve to fucking die for daring to go out with friends. People knowlingly put themselves into situations where bad things might happen on a daily basis. This isn't one of them. People that don't wear a seatbelt, or who drink and drive are people that put themselves into a situation where bad things will happen. All this girl did was hang out with friends and she gets capped by a fucking mick on a horse...and it's her fault? Unbelievable.
  25. It's a lot of college aged kids that look for reasons to destroy shit and give the city a bad name. That's the extent of it.
