When I got my permit, I was permitted to operate a car/truck, but only if I had a licensed driver over 21 in the car with me. Once I got my license, I was free to drive by myself any time except between midnight and 5A (unless I was coming home from work). I couldn't have anyone in the car with me that wasn't a licensed driver over 21 for six months after I got my license. I started driving school when I was 16, and took three road tests with the driving instructors (which is a complete waste of time. They make you drive around in fucking circles and wouldn't let me use my driving time to drive myself to work) They teach you parallel parking, turn signals, changing lanes, etc.etc., stuff you're supposed to know for your driving test. In order to get a license (at least in Massachusetts, where I got my license) you get into the car with a state trooper riding shotgun. They're supposed to make you drive for about 20 minutes, but I guess my statey had a plane to catch, as I had to take a left turn onto a busy street, turn into a residential area, make a u-turn and head back to the DMV. I thought I had failed, but I passed, and the test took a whopping four minutes.

Is it me or did the Fins just look LOST when they had to do nothing but attack? Good win for Canada, and it's funny that LeCavalier was a replacement and he ends up winning the MVP for the tourney (although Marty could have made a strong case for it. A GAA of 1 isn't anything to sneeze at)

Even then, is there really anything that a fan could say that would warrant physical assault? Francisco could have taken the high road and asked that the fan in question be ejected. I agreed with everything you said except for this. Is that what it ultimately comes down to? A player has to ask that someone be ejected for heckling? They were just talking about this on the Dan Patrick show, and Kruk actually made a really good point. If a player goes to his manager, his teammates or to the umpire himself, are his teammates still going to respect him? Unlikely, since he's supposed to be focused at all times on the field and not even hear the fans. So what's a manager going to say? "Deal with it. " What is the public perception going to be? "I paid my money, I can scream at them, I pay their salaries." How different is it from being in a restaurant? You pay money to be there and the employees perform a certain service for your money. Does that mean that you can scream obsenities at the chef, waitress or bartender? Certainly not. And if you're asked to leave, what are you going to say? "I paid my money to be here." It's no different from the ballpark. You know, we get down on athletes a lot for making the obscene amounts of money that they do, but it's times like this, when a fucking moron is screaming like that, where I don't want to be a professional player. It's not in their job descriptions to deal with the ignorant. Their job is to play baseball.
