US drops its second game of the tournament to Russia 3-1. Esche is really the only reason why these games are as close as they are, as the US players have gotten their asses whooped in almost every category. There's a big difference between age and experience. Right now, it's looking like age. And if Keith Tkachuk had injured Sergei Gonchar, I think I would have killed him myself. HE'S BRUINS PROPERTY!!!

Just as I mention that neither team has put up a 0, both teams do in the 4th. Dave Roberts makes an excellent diving catch to make up for an error earlier in the inning, and the Red Sox leave the bases loaded in the bottom of the inning.

Wild game in Boston, as the Red Sox have a 4-3 lead going into the top of the 4th with neither team putting up a 0 on the scoreboard yet.

I suggest the A's, since they're on the West Coast.

Any team with Scott Niedermayer as one of its top defensemen is the antithesis of slow.

Bunch of stuff needs to go

It's a 2X, just so you know. $90, plus shipping (which isn't much). It's authentic and never been worn.

    UH OH

My new job repairing satellite dishes. I still don't even know where they're putting us up in a hotel, but I'll ask you what's around the area when I finally know. I might want to go out, but I've heard horror stories about Miami.

I hope Miami stays. I have training there in two weeks.

You should ask them if it is at all possible to do the show from your house.

Charges against Kobe to be dropped

And now by default, the athlete is apathetic towards the fans and media alike. Now, the fans are excited by trivial things that the athlete does (like sign autographs). Used to be that the athlete enjoyed doing it, enjoyed meeting fans, but now they've all soured on it due to how they're treated by the media. Say, for instance, a player criticizes his manager in public. No matter what the guy does for the rest of the year, he's viewed as a crybaby. Whereas the fan loses faith in the athlete and doesn't like him as much anymore. ESPN has both helped and hindered the growth of sports worldwide. They've helped by getting more sports out to more fans by giving them airtime, showing events, etc. The X-Games are rightfully kissing ESPN's ass right now, as even though extreme sports are very popular, ESPN took a risk when they aired those kinds of sports on their networks. But, they've hindered the growth of sports by getting hard-ons for certain athletes and talking about them non-stop. I appreciate Barry Bonds for what he does for the game, but it doesn't make me want to watch seemingly every fucking Giants game at the beginning of the season. Little things like that alienate fans of the network and inhibit growth of more sports. The NHL has suffered from being ignored by ESPN, going from having two or three games a week to one, if they're lucky, due to the NBA contract going to ESPN. While I realize that the NBA is more popular, the ratings were only marginally better than the NHL's and ESPN kicked a fair amount of fans to the curb to show Warriors @ Trail-Blazers instead of Flames @ Canucks. ESPN's non-stop on-air masturbation is getting ridiculous as well. I realize that they've been around for 25 years, and while that is impressive, all of the stupid list shows that they've been doing are getting ridiculous. It's nothing more than self-love at this point, and it's pissing off the fans and turning them away from sports, IMO. The Kobe case is another example. Instead of maybe a weekly 'Outside the Lines Nightly' presentation about the goings-on, it took over VAST amounts of Sportscenter, replacing information about key games in other leagues, key match-ups that affect standings, and more. IMO, they completely crossed the line of journalism and got WAY too involved. Seemingly every Sportscenter for two weeks led off with this story, and they had NO NEW INFORMATION. Ugh.

    ESPN NHL 2K5

I'm very low on cash right now, but I'm thinking of getting rid of Vice City at Gamestop to pick up this game. For 20 bucks, I'll take it over NHL2K_, which has gotten VERY stale. Granted, I've been playing EA's series since it came out so I'll end up getting it once I start my job.

    Ichiro or Randy Johnson

I'm torn. Unit K'd 15 last night and fucking LOST, but Ichiro is top three offensive players in the league. I can't pick between them.

Vazquez has sucked since he got there? 13-8 with a decent ERA and good bb/k ratio. Maybe you're thinking of Loaiza.

I hope SW Florida doesn't get another one. If we get another one, I'm sure that what's left of Charlotte County will be blown away.

The uniforms are OK, as long as it was a one time thing. I can understand them honoring their heritage, although I wonder why USA didn't honor their heritage and wear the 1980 jersey. As far as the goalies go, I agree with you to a point. Canada has Brodeur, Luongo, and Theodore. All have proven that they can be lights out when they need to. Look at Luongo's numbers in the regular season and keep in mind that his defense SUCKS. Imagine him with a few all-stars in front of him defensively? Good lord, there'd be no stopping him. Goaltending will be the downfall of the US. Granted, Esche wasn't horrible last night, but against some of the goaltenders that he'll be stacked up against...I don't know... I guess it's a good thing that I watched it with the sound low, as I had Angels @ Red Sox on my big TV and US v. Canada on my smaller tv. As much as I like Thorne and Clement, they can't really do well with anyone else in the booth, which is something that ESPN shouldn't be doing anyway. Thorne and Clement are easily their best announcers, and saddling them with Roenick is just a bad idea. Have Roenick be the roaming reporter, have him pick fights with some of the ignorant fans in Montreal, anything.

    Should I take this job?

SW Florida. There's a ton of jobs here that pay well and are actually kind of fun. I turned down a position from Loomis Fargo (the armored car people) and a few others that I don't even remember, but most of them I wasn't even remotely qualified for. The job I got, repairing and installing satellite dishes, I have no qualifications for, but they hired me because they like my attitude and think I have potential. So, they're giving me a paid week of training, putting me up in a hotel in Miami and paying me to drive there. If I were you, I'd get out of where you are now, because it seems like there's nothing there for work.

    Should I take this job?

You should move here, DH. I sent out my resume for jobs that I'm not even technically qualified for, and got four jobs for no less that $10/hr. My new job that I accepted on saturday pays a very nice salary with first-day benefits, and I have NO experience in that field.
