Yep. Varitek with the catchers mask on and the chest protector is a big tough guy. If Varitek didn't have the mask on he would have been popped in the face. That's the only reason why A-Rod had to get 'em in a headlock. His mask came off when he shoved A-Rod. A-Rod still could have popped him. Totally agree with everything you just said. It was a slider/breaking pitch that got away. A-Rod pulled a Manny Game 3 and overreacted. Tek did what he was supposed to.

Because baseball is a business. A better deal came along, and it's fully within the team's right to explore all opportunities to improve the team. Not to mention, Manny Ramirez was all but traded to Texas, put on WAIVERS and he's responded.

Tek does that because it's the right thing to do. Not only does it protect his pitcher, but it can calm the player that's been hit down.
