They can't play the Cards, as same division teams can't play in the first round.

I like the OAO threads, as it literally means that any news on that particular subject will be found in there. I don't like people making individual threads on signings or news in the offseason for every little "headline". For instance, alf has been making threads about guys going to sign somewhere, or someone talking about being traded that ends up as a one reply thread that bumps something else off the main page. NHL especially needs the OAO NHL Season thread, as this is the discussion of games, players, trades, etc. If there is really big news ('BETTMAN REVEALED TO BE ALIEN') or something, that gets its own thread. But making members go to AIM chatrooms to have discussion is uncomfortable. If there is an NHL season to discuss, I'll start a OAO NHL Season thread because it is the perfect way to discuss the season.

Most everyone had Eric Lindros as the next big thing in the NHL, the guy to lead the league into the millenium as its star. They were very wrong. I was wrong about Joe Thornton being the saving grace of the Bruins franchise, to step in for Bourque and be the man. But, at the same time, I thought Samsonov had 'bust' written all over him, the same with Bergeron. So, I was happily wrong there. I never thought the Pedro Martinez trade would work out as well as it did. I thought the Red Sox had gotten a very good starter, but what followed were the Pedro Martinez: Man or Machine? years in Boston. A no-hitter waiting to happen every five days. But, at the same time, I was wrong about so many numerous "big stars" in the Red Sox organization. "Stars" like Tim Naehring, Phil Plantier, Scott Cooper, Bob Zupcic, Aaron Sele, Jeff Suppan, etc. The list is a mile fucking long.

... I can understand not liking football players, but not respecting football players is reeeaaaal dumb. These guys go through the most strenuous conditioning to play the most punishing sport for the shortest career and their money isn't even guarenteed. I don't respect them when they whine and cry like this. Don't like how practice is being run? Walk away from the game and work at fucking 7-11 for the rest of your life. I'd be more than happy to take part in these so-called strenuous conditions if I were getting paid as well as they are.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=91483 The Canucks are trying to decide what they're going to do when it comes to arbitration, as Brendan Morrison and Dan "Collapse" Cloutier are both up. I'd let Cloutier go and take my chances with Alex Auld, as he was better than Cloutier in the playoffs.

Well, it's hard to get a good idea of how this Red Sox v. Yankees thread will end up, as they were maddingly inconsistant in Anaheim this weekend. All I've figured out is: Derek Lowe can't pitch to save his life anymore. Pedro is capable of going from Cy Young to Derek Lowe in one start. Wakefield only pitches well against the Yankees it seems. Schilling is the best pitcher on the team. The offense either gets 10 runs or it gets 2 runs. There needs to be some middle ground somewhere. They need more consistancy, especially in an emotional series like the Yankees will be.

Oh, no doubt they're laughable, but I think we're all laughing for different reasons. I'm mostly laughing because I actually know people who would wear one in public.

Because with a Bostonian accent, the 'G' at the end of 'Schilling' doesn't get pronounced. As in: "Curt Schillin's pitchin' today." It's the way the accent works. Almost all 'G's get dropped at the end of 'ing' words.

AS and I get along fine on the other 346 days a year, minus the Red Sox v. Yanks head-to-head matchups.

Before the imperial regime took over and castrated the board. By getting rid of people who were grating the majority.

Another reason that I don't respect football players.

Read his posts on subjects that he had no idea what he was talking about. Read the numerous times that he stuck his foot in his mouth. There are so many of just those examples, you shouldn't need links to anything.

He was intolerable to the point of ruining threads and even entire folders and subjects for me. Glad he's gone.

Surprised that is so high.

Hopefully it's not another JR Richard story, where it appears to be nothing, but ends up being VERY serious.

Sorry, I didn't see it. Looked on the first page here in in General.

A 64oz Double Gulp from 7-11 with Mountain Dew and Red Mountain Dew mixed with a little bit of Dr. Pepper, and with flavor shots of cherry and lime. Defuckinglicious. -
Add in Marc-Andre Bernier, Fedor Fedorov, and Francois Pierre-Guenette as depth players, with all three having excellent offensive skills. Not to mention, Bertuzzi will never be the same player that he was before this thing happened with Steve Moore. He's going to be more cautious, he's going to have the league watching him carefully, and I don't think he'll ever be the same mentally. They need someone who can give them that physical presense on the top line. Say they moved Bertuzzi down to the second line and brought Rucinsky and Cooke to be his linemates. This leaves them with Naslund-Morrison-Thornton as a top line, which isn't horrible either. They have depth at forward in the minors. Losing Sopel wouldn't kill them either, they're pretty deep as far as defensemen go with Ohland, Salo, Allen, Jovo, and Malik. They also have some good defensive prospects in the system.
