I don't know why they started Pedro, since he had a terrible spring. I know that "spring training doesn't count...LOL" but Schilling had a better spring, and had been pitching better lately, plus the weather would have suited him better, PLUS BoSox fans like myself have been waiting all of the offseason to see him in a Red Sox uni.

And ESPN's even more thrilled because once again they can pretend the Senators don't exist. I wonder if they'd even make the first half-hour of SportsCenter if they won the Cup. I doubt they'll even be able to pronounce names correctly. Maybe they'll get Steve Berthiume to do his over-pronounced name schtick (mar-TEHN bro-DOOR. Man, I hate Steve Berthiume.)

Takes me about 20-25 minutes, depending on traffic, lights, etc. I do the speed limit, or a little below.

EASTERN CONFERENCE (my picks in bold) (1) Tampa Bay Lightning (Their goaltending gets them past the first round) vs. (8) New York Islanders (2) Boston Bruins (Helluva series this is going to be) vs. (7) Montreal Canadiens (3) Philadelphia Flyers vs. (6) New Jersey Devils (Brodeur is the best pressure goaltender in the playoffs) (4) Toronto Maple Leafs vs. (5) Ottawa Senators (*plugs ears* BIASBIASBIAS) WESTERN CONFERENCE (1) Detroit Red Wings (one of the best bluelines this year, plus whenever Hatcher decides to play like he's capable, they'll be in a good position) vs. (8) Nashville Predators (2) San Jose Sharks (Their goaltending and better defense makes it for them) vs. (7) St. Louis Blues (3) Vancouver Canucks vs. (6) Calgary Flames (They're my upset pick this year) (4) Colorado Avalanche vs. (5) Dallas Stars (Aebischer is for real)

Guess I'll just walk the 15 or so miles to work...Just to save money so some yahoo doesn't incorporate a 50 cent gas tax because I bought the car that I could afford.

Total middle of the pack. like 211 out of 450 in my senior year, mostly because I skipped so much.

The UCR would need a new scale after this show.

http://spawn.com/news/news6.aspx?id=12332 Thoughts? My favorite is the Brooks Robinson one.

There'd better be a Gretzky in there too. And a Bobby Orr.

A bit underwhelming, I agree. I was hoping for a Steve Carlton with the old-school Phillies pinstripes, but I guess that'll be in series 2

Ummm....no. Nothing can get me out of bed at 5AM.

Sens resigned Alfredsson to a 5 year deal. http://tsn.ca/news_story.asp?ID=78230&hubName=main

I think that Sakic is in. 59 more goals puts him at 600 for his career and he's been a consistant player (minus occasional injuries) for 15 years.
-
Lalime drives me crazy when he does his "blow a game" into a "shut them out" the next. That inconsistancy makes me VERY nervous come playoff time.
-
He's slightly overrated because of the system, but his career numbers are tremendous. He'll pass Roy for wins, no doubt.

The playoffs are going to be fucking awesome this year. If the Isles can get 6 points in their final 6 games, they'll finish with >90 points, making it so everyone in the East has >90 points. The West is shaping up as well. I still kind of want to see Nashville in the playoffs, but that's only because I hate St. Louis with a passion and want to see them fail after firing their coach. The Cup is going to the West this year, as even to come out of the East is going to be a dogfight, and I think that the East Final is going to be better than the Cup Final.

Maybe if you left the house more than once a month.... That's cold. Bitch.

I have never seen this fad in action, Mr. Banky.

Poor Luongo. Makes 46 saves and loses, while Marty makes 21 saves and wins.

It's about even. You have the people who are fans of it, follow the sport, keep stats on players, etc., who are fans of teams for a reason. There are some homers down here who only care about the Lightning or the Cats because they have access to them easier. They couldn't name five players on either Tampa or Florida, but they are fans, they attend games and buy merchandise. The "old folks" care more about baseball (at least in my area). You can chat with them about baseball (including the Jays or Expos) and they'll know players, stats, and history. But throw in a comment about Mogilny's injury, and they have no idea what you're talking about. It might be different upstate, but at least in my area, it's mostly about the "Big 3" in the US (baseball, football, basketball).
