I'm not a fan of being center of attention.

Carolina and Irbe are not on good terms right now. Weekes is ready to take over the #1 now.

I constantly get my ass kicked in football and baseball games, but I love a good game with friends. Hockey games are a different story, as witnessed by my 'Bring terrible teams to greatness' in NHL 2002.

Well, let's look at Atlanta then. Finished 31-39-7-5-74 in third place in a weak division. Yes, they have a very good coach in Bob Hartley. My main concern isn't with Bob Hartley, it's with the goaltender that they are going to go with. Dafoe is a good goaltender, and as a Bruins fan in Massachusetts for a while I saw him up close, but for a guy with about a 2.36 GAA with a .908 with an underrated at the time defense in front of him is good, but not something that I would hinge the franchise on. Especially when they have Pasi Nurminen waiting in the wings, who is a better goaltender than Dafoe and can actually grow with the team. Their offense is always going to be good, what with two of the young stars in the league right now in Kovalchuk and Heatley. They also have an unknown Zdenik Blatny, who is going to be a top 6 forward, Shawn McEachern is due back, and Slava Kozlov is a great addition to the team. Unfortunately, their additions of Randy Robataille and journeyman Bill Lindsey leave something to be desired. Their defense is kind of just 'there', as they have Garnet Exelby, Chris Tamer, Frantisek Kaberle, Kirill Safronov, and Yannick Tremblay are their core. Of these 5 players, only Frantisek Kaberle and Yannick Tremblay offer anything of and offensive upside, as Kaberle has 82 points in only 4 seasons. Tremblay, you can compare to Sandis Ozolinsh of Anaheim, except Ozolinsh at least knows how to play defense. Tremblay is basically a winger that lines up behind the forwards. He has almost no defensive game. Their signing of Andy Sutton was a good pickup, as he is a big man who knows how to use his size, and can wire shots from the point. Their other defensive signing of Ivan Majesky is...interesting. It helps them, as Majesky is very good and physical in his own end, but he also has no offensive upside. Basically, what it boils down to, is that their 4 major offensive forwards (Kovalchuk, Heatley, McEachern, and Kozlov) have to produce a ton of goals for them to even have a shot in the division, as their defensemen aren't going to pitch in very much, and Dafoe has been known to disappear at times. They play in a division that has 4 underrated offenses in the league, and all of the teams in their division actually have solid goaltending (Carolina- Kevin Weekes, Florida- Roberto Luongo, Tampa- Khabibulin, Washington- Kolzig). In Atlanta's net, they need a sure thing to have a shot. They aren't even close to that right now, as Nurmenin isn't ready, he's been inconsistant in net, and Dafoe is...Dafoe. I give it one more year before they sneak in as a #7 and play Cinderella.

Henry Winkler would make more sense, as he has a personal relationship with Ritter.

That was incredible. "The only way you're gonna die today is if I kill you. Your bomb's not going off."

Am I missing something with all of this Atlanta love? I mean, they have two of the best young players in the game, but their only real acquisitions this post season has been resigning Slava Kozlov and getting journeyman Randy Robataille. Byron Dafoe is not the man to lead them into the postseason. He is a good backup guy, but not someone who I would hinge my franchise on.

I agree with you up until your inclusion of Atlanta, Chris Florida is going to make the playoffs. They have a young core of defensemen, forwards, and one of the best young goaltenders in the game. They added a good penalty killer in LW/D Eric Messier from Colorado, they resigned Kristian Huselius, Ivan Novoseltsev, Olli Jokinen, and Viktor Kozlov, who comprise their main forwards. They got veterans in Lyle Odelein and Todd Gill, and to top it off, they have one of the more underrated coaches in this era (Mike Keenan). Don't really be shocked if they win the Southeast Division.

It's hard to miss Canda, all tucked away down there.

Meh. I have to read the New Testament for a class, which I'm really not looking forward to, along with spending a small fortune on books for said class, it's full of wannabe analysts, who use the fifty cent words when the 25 cent words will do just fine, who over-analyze anything and everything to appear smarter than everyone. For another class, supposedly a math class, the guy has done nothing but plug a natural diet drink that he swears is the reason that his father no longer has cancer. And I have been unable to get the book for my computer class, as apparently they have about 10 fewer copies than needed, and are waiting for people who drop the class to turn the book in. I can't do any assignments without the book, and I have 5 of them due on Thursday...and no book to do them in. Other than that, everything's OK.

^^^ Exactly. Someone should inform Marty that this is one year of starting play, and he didn't lead them very far in the postseason, when he's supposed to hop on his horse and ride them at least close to the SCF.

Is that a Daewoo? FWIW, the commentary with whoever and Sarah Clarke is BORING. They don't talk about anything but Nina for the entire thing. They talk over scenes with other characters...just talking and yammering on and on about Nina. It's not even like it's anything good either. I believe it's the commentary on the one with the interrogation. so, 1 P.M. - 2 P.M.

Or just stop sharing.

That was one of the best done scenes of the season, IMO. It's right up there with Spoiler (Highlight to Read): Jack pouring his heart out to Nina and the Sheri Palmer and Kingsley meeting. The big gunfight was done very well, and the hand-to-hand scene was done superbly. The final staredown with Jack and Kingsley was almost perfect

My feelings exactly, Chris. They have Ron Tugnutt in as the starter until Turco signs. Tugnutt has played for 7 teams now, and has a really funny name.
-
No, they didn't. That was something that I was disappointed in.
-
Halladay = Cy Young in AL. I had only seen him pitch a few times, but seeing him today was incredible. He is amazing.
-
The Sabres are having a devil of a time signing him, aren't they? Marty Turco rejected the Stars' offer of 12 million over 3 years. http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?id=53531

I overheard this on TV, when the Red Sox were playing the Devil Rays. Greg Vaughn was up to bat, and was down 1-2. Even through the TV, you can hear a guy in the first row, as Vaughn steps out of the batter's box. "Hey Greg Vaughn! Where's your brother (I'm assuming Mo Vaughn is what the guy was referring to)? Hey Vaughn!" Then at the top of his lungs, the guy just screams "YOU SUCK!" right as the pitch is nearing home plate. Vaughn struck out.
