As McCarver said, "It's not the time to bring in your closer. It's only the 8th inning." Of course, that bases-loaded, one-out jam is the kind of thing you want your best relief pitcher to get you out of.

I want to spit on both Kostitsyn brothers. They are the absolute worst divers. Even Axelsson got pissed off and he very, very rarely shows that kind of emotion during the game. Basically, matching minors for "interference" by Axelsson, which was really him tapping Andrei Kostitsyn on the arm and watching him go down like a sniper picked him off from the rafters. How is there a call when the refs are admitting that there was embellishment? How is Axelsson guilty of a penalty when all he did was touch a player and watch him fall down? Fucking ridiculous.

You mean you've never had Chicken and Waffles?! My gal got me into this, claiming it was a southern thing. I looked it up on the internets and found that it wasn't, but still. It's great.

Kovalev disappeared after scoring the goal. Lucic was on his ass after that.

Very proud of the collective Bruins effort in the third. Though I'm wishing those bounces had shown up in games 2 and 4 because this series would be very, very different. Still: 2004: (2) Boston v. (7) Montreal Game 1: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 3-0 Game 2: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 2-1 OT Game 3: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 3-2 Game 4: Boston @ Montreal - Boston 4-3 2OT Game 5: Montreal @ Boston - Montreal 5-1 Game 6: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 5-2 Game 7: Montreal @ Boston - Montreal 2-0 2007: (1) Montreal v. (8) Boston Game 1: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 4-1 Game 2: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 3-2 OT Game 3: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 2-1 OT Game 4: Montreal @ Boston - Montreal 1-0 Game 5: Boston @ Montreal - Boston 5-1

Not really, since I rarely watch Red Sox/Yanks games that have little meaning on anything. Hard to get excited for a game in April when there's playoff hockey on.
-
Endy Chavez would have caught him.

Throw a shutout?

I'm glad they lost. It would have been great had they done it when the movie came out, you know, last year, for that big run they had in the postseason...

Riveting "inside" information from Mark Shapiro on ESPN. Apparently, get this, he has a big board with free agents to be, a depth chart for his team AND he reads minor league reports every morning! HOW DOES HE HAVE ALL THIS TIME TO BE IN THE BOOTH?!
-
I didn't realize that someone was propping your eyelids open ala Alex DeLarge. Go to bed. Christ, I'm a fan of the Red Sox and I gave up after the Bruins game was over at around 1030.

Montreal really should have put the Bruins out of their misery tonight. Now they have confidence, Kovalev is frustrated and the Bruins are starting to figure things out. Oh, by the way: 2004: (2) Boston v. (7) Montreal Game 1: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 3-0 Game 2: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 2-1 OT Game 3: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 3-2 Game 4: Boston @ Montreal - Boston 4-3 2OT Game 5: Montreal @ Boston - Montreal 5-1 Game 6: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 5-2 Game 7: Montreal @ Boston - Montreal 2-0 2007: (1) Montreal v. (8) Boston Game 1: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 4-1 Game 2: Boston @ Montreal - Montreal 2-1 OT Game 3: Montreal @ Boston - Boston 2-1 OT A pattern is starting...

Savaaaard!!! Series at 2-1.

I didn't watch either Red Sox/Yanks game so far, and I probably won't watch tomorrow's. For games in mid-April, there's no need to get more excited for them than any other game. Still, of course FOX pulls out all the stops for every meeting (I don't know if they've softened or anything this year, I didn't watch the game) and ESPN is really no better or worse. The games have become something of an EVENT for national tv, which I can understand for games down the stretch and in the playoffs, but for games 11-13 of the season? It's hardly something worth covering like the fucking ALCS or something. I'd rather just relax and wait until later in the season before being subjected to the usual band of idiots for those games.

To the divers go the spoils. Fuck you, Mike Leggo. If you're going to call Reich for tripping, call Markov for diving or at least make the call before it seems that the Bruins are going to get possession in Montreal's zone. It's bad enough that the Bruins have to compete against the Scabs, but to have to compete against the incompetance that is the NHL officials too is just ridiculous.
-
Hey, it only took 18:30 for the Scabs to score the first goal. Now we're cooking with gas.
-
All I'm asking for is for the Bruins to not let in a crippling goal early and possibly even get a lead. I don't think it's too much to ask, but... No Wideman, no Kessel. Alberts and Sobotka in their place.
-
How's Wayne Gretzky doing? Fine. I'm thinking like Ted Linsday, Ted Kennedy, Jean Bealiveau, Johnny Bauer, Gordie Howe, even Serge Savard. I should add Peter Zezel. Dude nearly added 120 pounds since retirement. Add in Milt Schmidt. He turned 90 this year.
-
Hopefully Bruins/Scabs doesn't go the same way tomorrow night. Marc Savard cleared for contact as well, it's still "officially" unknown whether or not he'll play, but knowing the Marc Savard that the Bruins signed, he'll probably be in the lineup ready to go. Same for Metropolit. Bergeron is still out for game 1, but I feel giddy with him potentially looming for game 3 in Boston.
-
http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins...ersey_is_o.html Patrice Bergeron has been cleared for contact and could be back for the Montreal series. ... Holy shit. I think they have a puncher's chance.
-
I really don't care whether the Bruins win or lose, I just hope they put up a fight and not let the Scabs cakewalk. They're really in a great spot for the series, all of the pressure is on Montreal and all the Bruins have to do is play their game and get some playoff experience for the kids. Interesting sidenote: this will be Marc Savard's first postseason.
-
Lots of pressure on the Habs, what with the 11 game winning streak against the Bruins, the high seed, the division title... Just saying.

I downloaded the new Van Morrison and liked it OK, but it just made me listen to Moondance for the 21593th time.
