How did you land the job that you have now?
the max replied to JaMarcus Russell's #1 Caucasian Fan's topic in General Chat
I sent my resume through careerbuilder.com. And I still have the job 3.5 years later. -
Yea i'm sure none of them have any interest in playing games like Uncharted, GTA4, Gran Turismo 5, Devil May Cry 4, Resistance 1 and 2, Final Fantasy, Unreal Tournament, Metal Gear, Various Sports games, etc. *raises hand* I have no interest in any of those games, but would pick up the PS3 if I had the money. It's still probably the best deal on a Blu-Ray player out there.

As an offensive weapon, Slow-as-Molasses Murray > every forward on the Bruins not named "Savard". While that's true, I'm tired of the wagon being hitched to a fat horse like Murray. I agree about Sturm, but at least he has a weapon other than a hard shot. Murray's only offensive ability seems to be standing in the slot and shooting when Savard passes him the puck. At least Sturm, Kessel, Axelsson, Metropolit, Kobasew, hell even Sobotka are capable of doing things other than scoring goals. Sturm has the speed and can disappear offensively but have a good night defensively. Axe is one of the more underrated players in the league and can bring it offensively when asked. Metropolit has been ok, mostly defensively, Kobasew is playing well, I'm a big fan of Sobotka's willingness to play physical even when he's no bigger than I am. And that story a few weeks ago of Sobotka getting under Avery's skin made me a Sobotka fan. Kessel shows flashes of Samsonov at times. He has one move (the outside-inside move) that real defensemen can properly defend against in their sleep. He needs to start scoring more. That said, I'm with you in that it's still too early to call him a bust considering all that he's been through. I think next season he'll really be ready to emerge.

Slush Puppies: I remember getting them in Norton when I was at summer camp. Nothing beats a lemon lime slush puppie. Icee sucks. And for the guy wondering about the gas stations with a restaurant, showers, etc. for truckers you might be thinking of Pilot stations. We have a few in our area and it's a trucker's mecca. All kinds of stupid electronics, every drink you can imagine, sometimes homemade pie. Plus they have an upstairs with a lounge area, pool tables and showers.

Hopefully we can get into a few games down here. I don't think there's going to be much going on at the Minnesota camp, so we should probably see one or two there. Probably only get to one Red Sox game since they have a short porch this year since they're leaving early for Japan. I'm pissed that the St. Patrick's game is a night game against the Yanks. Not only are people wayyyy to involved in a spring training game, but the Yank fans from Tampa may be the suckiest bunch of sucks who ever sucked. Just intolerable.

The NHL needs to define the term "distinct kicking motion" in the rulebook with regards to a puck being kicked in. Andrew Ladd kicked one past Auld tonight that continues to baffle me. The pass came, Ladd obviously kicked the puck, the puck changed direction and went in the net. Not only did the ref on the ice call it a goal, the replay officials let the goal stand. How the fuck is this possible? And Shawn Thornton with 2 goals in 27 seconds has to be one of the greatest sports feats of the year. A guy that is only in the lineup for his physical presence (and doesn't even do that very well anymore) pots his first two of the year :27 apart is pretty fucking impressive. What wasn't impressive was the offense. I'm convinced now that Glen Murray is the problem with this team. And I hope Chiarelli can take him out to the state line and leave him in New York somewhere, because I'm not sure he could get a water bottle and a used pair of gloves for him at this point. Watching Glen Murray skate before the injury was bad enough. I'm not sure he's fully recovered from his hip flexor injury now and he's gotten even slower. Jesus Christ.

Red Wings v. Bruins tonight. In favor of the returning Marco Sturm, Vladimir Sobotka was scratched. I don't understand this move, as Sobotka has all the makings of a pest for the aged Wings defense to deal with. He's hard to knock off the puck, he's great on the wall, he kills penalties and can play with just about anyone. Instead of Sobotka, Reich AND Thornton will play, despite neither being in a fight in the last month plus (Reich last fought on 12-29, Thornton on 1-8). I'm kind of pissed about this. If the Bruins can escape with a point tonight against Detroit, I'll be happy. That'll be three of a possible four against two of the best teams in the league. Just the kind of thing they need.

Bruins v. Sens tonight. No Heatley or Alfredsson for the Sens...secnahc sniurB eht ekil I

The best Leykis story is the one when he hit his wife in the face with a glass of booze and tried to shove her head into the fireplace.

Nice to see that they got the game in at the morgue last night. Jesus Christ, that crowd was fucking dead. And for a good game too.

And Luann's new boyfriend's car is one of those globe things from American Gladiators. "Let's roll." I'm going to go watch it again.
-
My new favorite, as of a few months ago, is 'A Milhouse Divided' when Kirk and Luann get divorced. There's some great gags in there from Gudger College, Kirk's new singles pad, Kirk's demo tape, Homer's ocean sounds, and having one of the Doobie Brothers at Homer and Marge's remarriage. A great episode.

Wideman has been much improved from last year. He still has some minor struggles from time to time (getting his shot on net, settling the puck, falling on his ass with nobody around) but he's been the best defenseman on the team apart from Chara and Ward. For a 24 year old, that's a pretty good thing. He's at least let the Bruins fans almost forget that Brad Boyes (for whom Wideman was traded) has 28 goals, which is how many Kobasew (the Bruins' leading scorer) is projected to finish with on the season.

Boston Bruins: Offense: C. And it's only that high because Marc Savard is one of the most creative players in the league and only needs that split second to make a play out of nothing. Phil Kessel is coming around, albeit slower than most expected. I think that when you consider all that he's been through in his year and a half career, Kessel is going to evolve into a great player. I've read other places of him essentially being Tony Amonte, which I won't complain about. Obviously, the lack of a second top two center is due to Bergeron being out (and out for the season as he hasn't even skated since the incident and I'd rather they took their time and made sure he was as healthy as can be). Glen Murray is still the same Glen Murray. Can't stay healthy and when he is healthy, he's just an offensive player that has been snakebitten for the entire season. He has 10 goals, yes, but they all happened in one spot on the schedule. When he's not scoring goals, he is useless. Kobasew and Sturm are two guys relied on for their offense, but they're both wayyyy too streaky to be the backbone of the team's goal scoring. Defense: B-. Zdeno Chara has been the Chara that fans expected from him last year. His minutes are down, but he's doing more in them than he was last year. He's a fixture on the PK, hitting guys, blocking passes/shots, and his offensive game has really helped the powerplay do its business (6th in the NHL). The problem with the defense is that outside of Chara and the emerging Wideman, there is nobody else. Aaron Ward is a great veteran to have around and Mark Stuart looks like the real deal, but Ference and Hnidy are still two guys who get too much ice time and struggle in finding roles on the defense. The defense struggles mightily at killing penalties (27th in the league) and sometimes even the basics are lost on them (making the first pass out of the zone, CLEARING the zone, etc.) They need a legit #2 defenseman to take the weight off of Wideman. I think Wideman as a second pairing guy with his offensive skills and his budding defensive awareness would make him a much better player, much sooner. Goaltending: B+. It's hard to fault a goaltending team that has a 2.57 GAA (9th in the league) while facing over 31 shots per game (4th in the league). They are also tied for second in the league in save % (.918). Thomas has emerged as a legit #1 goaltender and Alex Auld has become a very safe backup, making timely saves and keeping the team in it, even during the long stretches where the ice is tilted into the Bruins' zone. Coaching: A. It's hard to do more with less as well as Claude Julien has. He's basically relied on Marc Savard carrying the team offensively, Chara defensively and Thomas being a flopping wall in net and has the team improved over last year's numbers with no Bergeron, no #2 defenseman and Chuck Kobasew leading the team in goals...still at 7th in the conference with at least a game in hand on all but one team in the playoff hunt. And the team has played more aggressively than they did last year, instead of the Snuggle Bear team they were last year, this team doesn't take shit from anyone. He's given the kids ice time when they deserve it, instilling in them that they'll have to play the right way before they are allowed to play at all. He's not been afraid to bench Kessel when needed to. Criticism of Julien is the same that most coaches probably get: If he's not afraid to bench Kessel, why not bench Sturm when he went through his stretch of playing like shit? Why not hold the vets to the same standard? Overall: B. Their heads are above water in the east, which is more than I expected. They've let the kids play and have been rewarded with great efforts by Sobotka, Krejci and Pelletier in the last few games. Milan Lucic is getting a reputation as a force on the team. And I'm delusional enough to believe that they could actually make the playoffs with some minor offensive and defensive additions...and potentially make some noise. They are a team that I would hate to see as a top seed in the playoffs. You know with Julien behind the bench, the team doesn't quit in the middle of games anymore. And when Tim Thomas is on, he's on for games at a time. A streaky goaltender behind a physical team that can score goals is a great horse to have in the playoffs.

If healthy, Glen Murray will be shipped out. I think someone would give up something for a guy with a lethal shot like his. His injury history may knock his value down some, but Chiarelli has to move that salary and move on from Murray. The team is just faster and better overall when he's not in the lineup. It's basically established now that Savard can make just about anyone into a goalscorer. Time to bring in someone cheaper.

http://www.nhlscap.com/ A cool site for figuring out the little things in the CBA. The guy who runs it is a good guy, too. He's an admin at hfboards.

Both Adams and half of Samsonov's remaining contract count against Chicago's cap. Adams is signed through next season at 600K, Samsonov is off the books at the end of this season.
-
It's already so that if you put a player on regular waivers, his contract goes with him if he is claimed. If he's on re-entry waivers, you pay half of his salary, no matter if his contract ends this year or five years from now. You're on the hook for half of his annual salary. I think that's fair, because otherwise, a team could just shuttle a highly paid player to the minors and back with no regard for his being claimed. Plus, it puts pressure on the GM to not sign guys to big contracts who may not live up to them. Otherwise, nobody is going to bail you out when you put him on regular waivers, but they might take a shot at him for half-price. See: Sergei Samsonov.
-
Technically, if they went the flashback route and flashed back to some of the stuff that didn't make the cut in previous movies, they probably could. Although I don't think I would pay three times to see the same movie. I think two would be a fresh idea though. They would make a fucking killing at the box office, even moreso.
-
It basically became Samsonov/pick for Adams. And the Blackhawks are on the hook for half of Samsonov's salary this year. I think Carolina got the better end of the deal.

The way the title and subhead of this thread are worded it would seem that ESPNNEWS played a role in her death.

Alex Steen made Alex Auld look like a fool on the winning shootout goal. A simple wristshot fake, Auld is about three feet out of position, Steen calmly flips it behind Auld, who is stuck trying to make a blocker save on a shot that never happened. WTG. On the plus side, this was the NHL debut of Pascal Pelletier, who looked like about a thousand bucks when he was on the line with anyone but Krejci/Sobotka. With them, he maybe cracked a few hundred grand. He needs work, but he didn't look lost. Hope he sticks around and Schaefer starts waiting tables in the boxes or something.

Where would be the cut off for the two movies?

Great game this afternoon. Bruins take it 4-3 in oooooovertime. The refs were, to put it best, inconsistant all afternoon, but when they finally swallowed the whistles, there was some good action end-to-end. Milan Lucic may have officially arrived as well, despite not scoring a goal. He went in for a hit against Smith near the end of the first and caught his nose on the dasher. It required stitches and a visor being put onto his helmet. He got hit in the open ice in the second, which reopened the cut and required more stitches and one of those peewee plastic masks on his helmet. Still, he set up a scoring chance and played well with that. In his post game comments, with a cut on the left side of his nose and blood all over his face, Lucic supplied, "This is a sad, sad day for my modeling career."
