    NHL Offseason - 2007

That's not the new jersey. That's an old one that they wore not long after their inception.

No Kwik-E-Marts down here, but certainly 7-11 has Buzz Cola, donuts, squishies, etc. I've gotten the Buzz Cola a few times.

That was directed at CzechDot or whatever he's calling himself this week. And I have half a mind to put you on ignore for showing that awful jersey.

Worse or better? It's light years better than the old one, if that is in fact the new Bolts logo.

I like the new logos for all of the teams that have released them so far. Didn't think they could improve on the Sharks logo, but they have.

Was it really that important of a storyline in the book? Really? I just remember it being more of a comedy thing and expanding Ron's character . Best left out.

    This Week in Baseball 7/9 - 7/15

Bruins first rounder Zach Hamill will be throwing out the first pitch. Hopefully it's better than Bergeron's Mark Wohlers impression last year.

We're seeing this on sunday, when all of the hayseeds are in church. 11am time starts before it gets dark in the theatres as well, which is always a problem.

That's my favorite part. You mean a guy who has been forced out of TWO franchises, one of which is willing to pay HIM 17 million to not play for them anymore is having a hard time getting serious offers? Really? The captain of the team who was BENCHED, demoted to the fourth line and had 0 points in the playoffs isn't getting anything he's happy with? Go shit in your hat, Alexei.

Bruins open with the Pacific swing. Stars, Dogs, Ducks, Kings and Sharks. That's at least a 2-3 start.

He has Torres, Pitkanen, Hemsky, Stoll, Greene, Smid and quite a number of prospects. It's not a lot, but Lowe has building blocks. Again, to act like a GM wouldn't take his call because of some kind of loyalty to the Sabres is just ridiculous. If a GM ignored Lowe despite Lowe having something to improve his team, that GM is not a good one.

Lowe did what he felt would improve his team, which is his job. If the Sabres are this unhappy with the contract, don't match it. Buffalo fans with half a brain in their heads (I know, hard to imagine) would understand why you didn't match. It might be a tough sell for all of the bandwagon fans they've seemed to pick up that you lost Drury, Briere and Vanek in one off-season, but you take the four draft picks from Edmonton, all of which look to be top-10 since Vanek alone isn't going to turn the franchise around, and move on. All this big talk about getting revenge on Lowe is fucking amateur. He did his fucking job. Should he have done it? Probably not, but he got shut out of the big name free agents and is stuck at the bottom of the barrel trying to rebuild with a ton of capspace and no real "talents" out there to do it with. Any GM who would actually not take an offer from Lowe that would actually improve their team because of some fucking grudge should be fired on the spot. Offering an RFA a contract is LEGAL within the current guidelines of the CBA. It's up to the PLAYER to sign the offer sheet. Maybe if Regier and Quinn weren't busy lowballing Briere and expecting him to take MUCH less than he was worth on the open market, this wouldn't have happened. Asset management, kids. Vanek is an asset that has value that another team wanted. Either sign him immediately after losing Briere and Drury or face the fact that you might lose him.

Rumors had the Red Wings being interested in Raycroft. I'd expect that with Toskala signing an extension and Raycroft not having the best of years last year, they might be shopping Raycroft.

A team can give Lundquist an offer sheet, but he's said publicly that he won't sign it. He wants to stay with the Rags. Just offering him the contract won't do anything. He would have to sign it.

Toivonen signed a one-year, one-way contract. He's either staying to back up Fernandez or he's going elsewhere. Personally, I'd like to see them stick with Toivonen and not give up on another prospect after a bad year. Chiarelli should be shopping Murray, Thomas and Axelsson around to teams who lost out on free agents. The Bruins need to cut some salary and bring in a veteran no bullshit guy to at least show the team how to play with some passion.

Kalus played in 9 games for the Bruins last year and had 4-1=5 for stats The Bruins board is losing its fucking mind over this deal, but I think it's pretty even. Kalus (who has a pretty sounding last name, pronounced Ka-loo) has a good ceiling but has been railed by injuries for a lot of his minor league career. If he completely pans out as expected he should be a second line wing, which isn't awful. But, the old adage is that you have to give to get. The Bruins gave up a good prospect and a fourth for a very, very good goaltender, which is something that they need.
  18. I just watched the season 1 finale of 24 on A&E. Not only does that entire season still hold up, the finale is still wildly entertaining and actually wraps things up nicely. Still the best season finale in recent memory, IMO. They had a lot to cover going into it and they covered it all without introducing anything new to step in and save a main character. They showed no fears in killing a "main" character off and the action sequences were actually believable. A great, great finale to still the best overall season of a tv show that I have ever seen.

That hawk in the logo should be gripping an NBA Draft ping pong ball instead of a basketball.

Only the Bruins, Caps and Blue Jackets debuted new threads tonight, I think. The other teams haven't unveiled the new jerseys yet.

http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=211518&hubname= Adrian Augroin sent to Calgary. No word on what Chicago gets back, but if it's anything more than rusty skate blades and used jockstraps, they can consider themselves winners. And since it wouldn't be a post of mine if the Bruins weren't mentioned...rumors are swirling around regarding Manny Fernandez being traded to Boston. And Luc Bourdon as well.

Great new logos for the Bruins. The main one, the spoked B barely changed. They basically took the 1932-33 logo and put it on the spokes. Looks great, and a nice nod to the past. The shoulder patch is interesting in that they basically took the 1924-25 crest and modernized it. I was a bit put-off by the rather large bit of black at the end of the sleeves, but the gloves will cover most of that anyway.

Kane or Turris. Both would work in Chicago, but I'd think that Czech would be tired of them picking high in the draft. Why not get rid of the pick, acquire a proven talent and start working their way back to respectability. Turris won't be around for at least two years (he's committed to Wisconsin) and Kane likely won't be ready for at least a year (he NEEDS to put on weight...5'10" 162 lbs...he'd be dead by November.) So it's one of those two or a proven player. I'd rather take the proven player.
