I'm hoping that Forsberg going to Nashville starts an arms race in the West that leads a team to way overpay for Glen Murray and Marco Sturm. Bruins need left wing help BADLY and it doesn't look like they are going to be high enough in the draft to get vanRiemsdyk or MacLean.

    Joe Rogan vs. Carlos Mencia

It seems to me it was more a case of taking things seriously at the right times. He wasn't afraid to lean on the contestants if they were close to quitting or things of that sort. Anyway, since he's currently agentless, he should be careful. Sleazy D will probably try to renegotiate his UFC contract so that he's making minimum wage or something. Rogan was immediately signed by William Morris. He was dropped by the 7th largest agency in LA only to be picked up by the 2nd largest. Also, the agency that dropped him only represented him as far as comedy goes. He has a separate agency for tv.

    Joe Rogan vs. Carlos Mencia

O&A brought this up today, that Rogan trashed Mencia to his face and didn't once bring up the "I'LL FUCKING KICK YOUR ASS!!" despite Mencia calling him a "little bitch". I guess after that, Mencia decided to go on-stage at the club, got booed off by the crowd and by about 15 comedians who stood in the back chanting the "na na na na" song at him as he was booed off-stage. Mencia complained to the owner of the club that he felt "unsafe" professionally that Rogan was targeting him this badly and Rogan was subsequently banned from the Comedy Store. Mencia is going to get more of a backlash then I think he's expecting, IMO.

I think the Preds got hosed on this. No way I give up Parent for a rental, no matter how close the West is. Upshall, 1st, 2nd would have been my final offer.

Calgary also got a conditional draft pick in the deal, but I can't find any information on it. One can assume that it's conditional on Stuart staying in Calgary after this season. I like the deal. Stuart and his agent seemed to be dragging their feet towards resigning (if they were interested at all). Chiarelli can't take all of the blame, especially when people start bringing up The Trade That Must Not Be Named as if Chiarelli is responsible for MOC getting 50 cents on the dollar for a standout player. He's working with the hand he's been dealt. Stuart wasn't going to stay, so it's better to move him now rather than risk holding onto him and have teams try to rip you off when they know that you're not going to keep him after the season. Stuart should do well in Calgary because there is no pressure for him to be a top pairing guy. In Boston, you could see him pressing night after night, trying so hard to make something out of nothing which usually ended up resulting in a turnover and a goal against. Stuart is a talented guy, but I can't help but think that he's still living off of the "drafted 1/3" hype. He has games where he looks absolutely brilliant and perfectly capable of anchoring the defense. Then he has a catastrophic game filled with mistakes, mental gaffes and stupid penalties that leave you scratching your head, wondering how he's a top pairing guy. Primeau leaving opens up some space on the lower lines, the PK and the powerplay(!) and will hopefully result in more deserving players (Kessel) seeing more ice time. I like the return as it brings in a still young Kobasew who seems like the type of player that Savard could make into a star. Ference is a good guy to have, especially if all of these roster moves result in York being sent to the cornfield and replaced with Ference, Lashoff and Stuart. I think this move can define the team next year. Chiarelli is saying the right thing in that they want to make a winner this year, but I think he knows that they aren't going to be making any noise this season. This move can truly give them something next season.

So, I'm looking to buy a gun.

note that this isn't my gun, just a picture of what it looks like. It's a Sig Mosquito with a suppressor. I also have the fancy little night sights attachment. I'd really like to get an HK USP Compact, but I think it's a little out of my price range.

    NHL Thread

From Hockeyjournal (Kalman): I finally caught up with Bruins defenseman Brad Stuart today after practice in Wilmington and asked him about Pierre Lebrun's Canadian Press report from earlier this week that claimed the blueliner went to B's management and "politely told them he doesn't want to stay." Stuart, as mild-mannered and soft-spoken as they come, answered me with a slight tone of disgust as he told me: "I've never said anything to anyone. It's the same thing as saying I want to be on the West Coast. It's disappointing people assume stuff like that. I never told anyone that. My wife never told anyone that. I wish I could go around talking about people, making stuff up. But that's what people do. I guess it's more interesting." I'd like to see them lock Stuart up long-term to be #2 on the blueline, but I don't see him staying here this season. One can only assume at this point obviously, but I'd think that he'd have a contract by now if he were interested in staying.

    Anna Nicole Smith Is Dead

The local news is covering this like the President died or something. She was a D list (no pun intended) celebrity who made herself famous by marrying some old codger. How is that news?

So the Bruins were playing well, had a 1-0 lead when I had to make a 10 minute phone call. I come back and they're down 4-1 after Ray Whitney pulls a natural hat trick out of his ass in under two minutes and Williams tips one in with barely any time left on the clock in the second. I was listening to the game on XM (I was working) and I sat at a green light, staring at the radio which read "CAR 4 BOS 1 2ND INTERMISSION" and questioning whether or not to just ram the damn truck into a middle school. Brad Stuart has been rumored to half the NHL. The most recent is the Devils for David Hale, Rod Pelley and Barry Tallackson. I'm sorry...who? I can only vaguely recall Hale from a game earlier this season and I wasn't impressed with what I saw. Stuart is the biggest trade chip that the Bruins have and if Chiarelli turns that chip into fucking junk like that Jersey rumor, maybe he should have stayed locked in his office in Ottawa.

So, I'm looking to buy a gun.

You're suggesting she get a gun illegally, or is it possible to buy a gun without a permit? I think my main point in my post (which wasn't worded properly on my part) was to get a shotgun and not a concealed weapons permit (like I have). That was the main jist. I think (and I'm not sure) that you're allowed a shotgun in your house without having to wait for a permit.

So, I'm looking to buy a gun.

You're better off avoiding the permit route. I went with it for my Sig and my switchblade that I carry in my pocket and the fee and waiting time was out and out ridiculous. They say 90 days, but of course, I was dealing with state employees, so that got kicked up to around 120. It's bullshit. That said, I agree with Rant. A Remington 870 is the way to go.

    Xbox 360

I have it and it's easy to setup. Does anyone know if the 360 will work with wireless adapters besides the official X-Box one (that retails for $99)? I too would like to know this. I have a Linksys set up in our apartment, but I really don't want to shell out 100 bucks for something that I likely wouldn't use but for roster updates.

    2006-07 MLB Offseason Thread

To say that Tampa hasn't ponied up to bring a big free agent to the bay is unfair, considering that they've been the drizzling shits since they were created. What free agent in their right mind is going to say "You know what? I know that I'm being offered more money, but I'd really like to go play in a crappy part of town for a team that hasn't won anything ever." They need to develop their players, create a competing team and THEN they can start looking at more than C+ level free agents.

The only plus to acquiring Aucoin is that since he's locked in for a few more seasons, it might make it easier to deal with the fact that they are going to lose defensemen in the off-season. That's all I got. Samsonov is dead-weight. From the eighth overall pick in the draft to a waiver wire transaction ten years later is never good. Of course, the Bruins are so desparate for scoring this season that they just acquired Brandon Bochenski...

    It's Always Worse In Winnipeg

My gal says that with weather like that, she's glader (I know it's not a word) that she moved to the sunny shores of Florida. BTW, it was a ridiculous 59 degrees here yesterday and she complained that she couldn't find her favorite hooded sweatshirt.

What game(s) are you playing now?

NHL07 for the Sexbox360. Just won the Cup in my first season in franchise and am off to a 9-0 start in my second year. I am loving the new skill stick now that I understand how to use it. I just played nothing but shootouts for about two hours until I got the hang of it and I am now unstoppable. Oh, if only real life imitated...fake life.

Bruins continue the...well, I wouldn't call it a firesale, so we'll say...lit match-sale. Kris Versteeg/conditional pick for Brandon Bochenski. Can't say I'm thrilled at this, considering that they could have had Bochenski for nothing not too long ago when Chicago put him on waivers. Versteeg was leading Providence in scoring prior to the trade (>1ppg too). But at least Bochenski fills a need![/sarcasm]

The Bruins traded Milan Jurcina for a fourth round pick. Limited NHL experience, good size, great point shot, developing his skating ability, shipped off for junk...sounds a lot like Shaone Morrisonn. Best of luck to Jurcina. I have a feeling he's going to develop into something special.
