Most older folks are victims of not knowing what they're getting themselves into. That's why I always introduce technology that my mom isn't familiar with to her (DVR, DVD, Internet, etc.)

Even Big Z made some mistakes last night. But that's to be expected when he's pretty much playing half the game. Jason York, who I'm convinced is blackmailing Lewis, Chiarelli and the rest of Bruins management into not waiving him, or better yet buying him a one-way bus ticket back to Switzerland, was a -2 in only 10 minutes (of which 3-4 were special teams minutes). I cannot for the life of me figure out what he has done to warrant any playing time at all. He's a veteran. That's all I got. Meanwhile, Matt Lashoff and Mark Stuart (two of the biggest pieces of the Bruins future) are in Providence despite proving that they were at least capable of staying in the big leagues.

What a great game last night. The Bruins weaknesses were completely exposed. Their inability to rack heads on the forecheck is something that needs to be addressed. Seems that about half of the forwards are afraid of making contact with defensemen. Bergeron and Savard are the only two forwards who throw hard checks in corners trying to get the puck. Both are the smaller players on the team and are arguably the only reason why the Bruins score anymore. Axelsson played one of the worst games he's ever played, Murray was invisible, Boyes looks lost at times in the offensive zone, Sturm is timid, etc.etc. And then, once they're exposed, they completely stop attacking and start a defensive shell. It basically becomes target practice on Thomas (who made 30 saves), and the rest of the team chasing everyone in the zone and playing the "icing" defense where they ice the puck and try to scamper off before the other team touches up.

Not at all. Given the option, I never blame anyone for choosing a specialty shop over a big-box. That said, Fort Erie is a town of 30,000 people. There's little to no shopping choices. Eh. If you know what you want and know how to research things, Walmart isn't the worst place to buy from, especially for the lower prices. I'd rather pay less and get no service than pay more and get service I don't trust.

For what seems like the 15th time, the Bruins host the Leafs tonight. No surprises on the Bruins part, Tim Thomas will likely make his usual 75 saves, including one from the Dominik Hasek collection to save the defense's ass after they fall asleep at the wheel in the third. Seriously. I had my doubts about Thomas being a #1 goaltender, but from what I've seen of him this season, he is. And not just by default. He's shown that he can excel with very few shots or a heavy shot count, he plays well under pressure and he has stolen a few games that the team had no business winning, including that Chicago game the other night. After Toivonen was housed by Nashville, I was a bit surprised to not see him return to Providence. Not because of his play, but to get him more game experience. He's not always going to play the "easier" teams when Thomas gets a night off. The Nashville game was his chance to play big boy hockey and he was shelled. It's getting close to the trade deadline and Chiarelli needs to decide what he's going to do about the goaltending. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying to trade Hannu. But if he thinks that Toivonen is going to be a serviceable backup down the stretch, he might want to rethink his position. Hannu's problem is mental right now. All that said, I hope for competant refereeing tonight.

I got my HDMI/DVI cable from monoprice.com. $11.98 shipped. Compared to those fucking rip-off Monster cables that are like $125, that's a fucking steal and a half. Oh and I'll fill everyone in on what a fucking no-nothing I am. I hook up the DVI cable, change the input on the TV to DVI, change the cable box to one of the free HD channels (still haven't ordered the HD channels)...I have no sound. I spent about 15 minutes screwing around with the cable and the settings on the TV before I pulled out the tv manual and realized that I needed to buy audio cables too. I told the gal and she's not stopped laughing at me. The picture is good, the sound is good. I'll reserve judgment for Leafs v. Bruins tonight, in HD. If the Bruins win, this was a good investment.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

It really shouldn't make much of a difference. I don't have a tv in my office nor a computer near my tv. I still manage.

ESPN sucks, so do thread closers

Normally I'd agree, but when everyone on this board obviously has internet access, that reasoning doesn't make much sense. Thanks to the internet and satellite radio, I haven't watched ESPN in quite some time. And I find it quite stupid why someone would continue to watch something that they hate.

Bruins v. Black Hawks tonite at 830. Stastny has been scratched to make room for Hoggan...another Lewis favorite despite bringing nothing to the table at either end of the ice. I've read that he allegedly plays defense, which Stastny does better. And while Stastny is far from a spectacular offensive juggernaut, at least he can put a shot on goal without it going 15 feet wide and clearing the zone. Or my favorite Hoggan shot where he shoots from the fucking corner, even with the goal line. Thomas gets the start tonight, Toivonen is starting tomorrow in Nashville. I'd start Hannu tonight against Chicago because Nashville is a team that will give the Bruins fits tomorrow night.

They should have him fight a bear. A grizzly or black bear. That way, he can go out fighting, people can justify wasting money on another one of his fights, and he'll finally be out of the news.

It was the closest thing to pee-wee hockey being on national television as you can get. The puck was by the benches and all 4 Bruins on the ice started going off for a change, leaving nobody at the blueline. Absolutely atrocious. That Columbus game was bad on a lot of levels, especially the officiating, but they really blew it on that line change.

    Best Games of 2006

Cardinals v. Mets game 7 of the NLCS. For a game featuring starting pitchers Jeff Suppan and Oliver Perez(!), it turned out to be one of the more entertaining games of the playoffs. Also had one of the best catches of the season, when Endy Chavez robbed Molina with the snowcone catch in the sixth. The end was less than perfect, Beltran went out with the bat on his shoulder on a perfect 0-2 hook. But it was a really, really entertaining game for an outsider (like me).

    Problems with Wireless Internet.

They range in price. I'd ask a friend or find someone who knows how to make them and has a crimper for them. I work with CAT5 cables on a daily basis and can probably make one in less than a minute. Ask around and you're sure to find someone who knows how to make one. If you can't find one, you'll have to buy a ridiculously priced one from a retail store.

White Sox deal McCarthy to the Rangers. http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/news/article...6&fext=.jsp I'm confused as to why they make this move when Buehrle wasn't exactly his 05 self last season and the rest of the staff was remarkably average. Plus, can't you get more for your "best pitching prospect"?

I was a bit surprised at the fans booing Big Z, but he's ignored them and played pretty good shutdown defense so far. I have the Ottawa feed and these guys are such blatant homers it's not even funny. Z leaves the puck behind the net for Bergeron to take up ice on the powerplay...Ottawa announcers say it's so the fans will stop booing him. That and their five minute discussion on Alfredsson's new skates have left me questioning my sanity. The dustup was funny, especially McGratton screaming "I'll fucking KILL you!!" at Primeau in the box. And the complete disorganization of the referees, not sure who should be in the box, Mara was in, Mara was out, Primeau was in, then he's gone, same with McGratton, after the tic-tac-toe goal on the powerplay, the refs had another conference to make sure of something, almost like they were counting minutes again. An entertaining game thus far.
