    It's the Seven-Year Itch

It's worth the money. I've bought it for the last three seasons. The only thing that sucks is when there are other games on that aren't covered by a national broadcast, they are unavailable. (Ex: FOX has three matchups...say, Mets v. Reds; Indians v. Red Sox; Braves @ Florida...just hypothetically. I will automatically get the Braves v. Marlins, but if want to watch Indians v. Red Sox, I'm fucked.) It's a great thing for watching baseball though.

    NHL 2006 Off-Season...

Of note: 11-11-6- Habs v. Leafs (HOF game) 11-28-6- Anaheim v. Oilers (Pronger's first game back in Edmonton...although he might not make the flight (personal reasons)) 12-6-6- Canes v. Oilers (SCF rematch) 1-13-7- Hockey Day in Canada (Habs v. Sens; Nucks v. Leafs; Oil v. Flames) For "interleague" games, it's: NE @ Central; v. NW (Bruins @ Blues; Wild @ Bruins) SE @ NW; v. Pacific (Thrashers @ Canucks; Ducks @ Thrashers) Atlantic @ Pacific; v. Central (Devils @ Ducks; Blackhawks @ Devils) Bruins open on the road because of the goddamn circus, but then have 6 straight at home. I like opening on the road though...brings the team together and allows them to gel early on in the season. Especially against the Blues and Isles. It's feasible that the Bruins come home with four wins.

Blasphemy I say! Wait 'til Mole tells you why the show's bad now.

    NHL 2006 Off-Season...

It's hard to tell, but there's at least an outside shot that he comes to camp and skips college. That gives him a year up on Backstrom if he were to make the team. Still can't believe that the Bruins managed to get Kessel at #5.

He's going to be the best player out of this draft class, IMO. Phil Kessel may have something to say about that...

Al, do you think that Joe Girardi would get any serious consideration for manager of the year?

    The Office, Season Two

I don't think of them as depressing; I think of them as real. It's pretty easy to identify with Jim above any other character and I'm sure that a lot of guys that post on the board have been in at least one of the situations that he's found himself in with Pam so far.

    NHL 2006 Off-Season...

The Senators blindfolded Chiarelli and left him in the middle of nowhere today as apparently his ransom has been paid. The Bruins officially have a GM now. Hurrah.

    NHL 2006 Off-Season...

From what I can tell, they got Preissing, who is good. He's an offensive-type defenseman, much in the same vain of Brian Leetch except he can play defense as well as head the powerplay. Josh Hennessy is a minor leaguer, never played a minute in the NHL. Seems to have good size and good minor league numbers. Barinka is a young defenseman with good size. That's all I got for now. I think Ottawa got hosed.

I chose the better of the two for me and listened to the game on XM with the White Sox feed. PBP guy had an orgasm.

Especially something that only happens every four years. They should each get a trophy simular in size to the World Cup. It looks like a Portuguese cookie jar.

He'll get signed soon, but I wouldn't go a penny over 2.5 million for him. Last year was an aberration. Most GM's league-wide are thinking that he benefitted from playing with the Sedins, which is why he's not signed yet.

Random people who park in your parking spot!

I park in other people's spots when they park in mine. But since I back into my parking spot (and it's across the little driving strip...if that makes any sense), it's pretty rare that someone parks in my spot. One night, one of our neighbors had a big throwdown party type thing and there were cars everywhere. So the girlfriend and I thought it'd be hilarious to park behind his guests. Since most of them stayed overnight, they were blocked in by us and the few other people that followed our lead and parked within three inches of their bumpers.

Did the All-Star Game suddenly become more hazardous than the other 162 games? Is the warning track replaced with lava? He can at least show up for one stinkin' at-bat, especially since he's getting paid to. You probably voted for him 25 times, too. I'm just being cautious. I have a bad feeling about something happening later in the season. And I vote once on All-Stars. Manny was included though, yes. You got me there.

    NHL 2006 Off-Season...

I've seen it pop up here and there. I don't know if Philly would like to trade a player like Gagne within the conference. Another team that is rumored to be interested in Gagne is Vancouver...

He gets the bonus because he made the All-Star team. Whether he goes or not, he gets it. BFD. Athletes get performance clauses all the time. A certain number of AB's, certain innings pitched gets them a certain dollar amount. Whether they're playing for their team or whether they're pitching for the bonus, we don't care. Manny's played well enough to warrant a selection to the All-Star game. Great. Congratulations to him. But if he doesn't want to go, he doesn't have to go. He'd rather take the time off and be able to help his real team win real games instead of screwing around in fucking Pittsburgh on a tuesday night in a game that nobody's going to watch. Who cares how long he'll be in the game for? All it takes is one step, one swing, one throw to injure himself. If he and Tito think it's serious enough to keep him from an All-Star game, so be it. There doesn't need to be a disabled list stint for him. The same thing happens in the NFL every year. Players get selected to the pro bowl and one by one, they back out of it for different reasons (family, injury risk, exhaustion, etc.etc.) They're given a free pass because they don't want to go play a full contact practice, but Manny's dogged for doing the same thing. It's bullshit.

The way that Buck, Timmay and Ken Rosenthal are ripping Manny for not going to the All-Star game, you'd think he pissed on Bud Selig's desk and wiped his ass with the "Sanctity of Baseball" cloth that hangs on the wall of his office. It's obvious that he may not need to go on the DL for his sore knee, but he has missed a game or two. And call me crazy, but I'd rather see my team's 30+ homer 120+ rbi machine playing down the stretch rather than expending energy on a fucking exhibition game. Buck even went as far to use the apparent "respect issue" that Manny has with baseball because he's been elected to the All-Star team and hasn't gone three times. And if he's the top vote-getter, he owes it to the fans. Does he, Joe? Does he really? Or maybe since most of the votes came from the fucking Red Sox fans that are fans of the team, maybe he owes it to THEM to rest up, not get hurt and be a contributor down the stretch in the season? Rosenthal said (I'm paraphrasing here) that "the top vote-getter needs to be in the 'most important showcase' in major league baseball." Hey Ken. Pull your head out of your ass. Last time I checked the fucking CHAMPIONSHIP is more important than a game in the middle of the week that nobody watches. Idiot. Go make up another trade rumor. I'd listen to the game on XM, but it's the White Sox feed. Not much better.

Sony is a bunch of assholes

And that means it can't be offensive? There's obviously one fucked up subliminal message in there if one were to choose to take it that way. Which I'm sure most would. If they wanted to go with that campaign, it would have been more effective to have two people of the same race (most likely they would have been white) one wearing white, one wearing black, that simple. Doing it the way they did, just like this thread, of course racism would be brought up. If it were obvious I might actually see where the problem is. Just more people flipping out about being politically correct. Sunrise, sunset.
