I don't live in LA, but from what I remember, Plascke felt that Lo Duca was the true leader of the team and should never have been traded.
-
Hopefully he has learned some people skills since his debacle in LA. He ought to send a picture of his ass to Bill Plaschke and sign it "Love, Google Boy." I think he should get one free punch on Plascke.
-
He spent most of the season in Providence. And thank you. I'm old.

Bruins bought out Travis Green and Shawn McEachern today. I'm not sure why they bought out Green...he actually played well at some points last season and is good with faceoffs. Sullivan just didn't know how to use him. McEachern = bye. take care. Zhamnov is a question mark right now.

Best part is at the end when the black go is all like "go get 'em team USA, go get em" and chokes up a bit. Yeah. Especially when he basically walks on to the team in mid-tournament because of his trick shot (the knucklepuck). I tried the knucklepuck once. I broke a car window.

The Red Sox tied the major league record tonight with their 16th consecutive errorless game. I don't know how far back it goes beyond the Cards in 1992, but it's a pretty impressive streak regardless.

I blame him putting on women's clothing and hanging around in bars.

Is Gammons an announcer or an analyst? There's a slight difference. I can't think of any games that Gammons has sat in the booth for (minus the Future's game).

I guess Delgado must have really been hurt to not at least get an at bat for one of Valentin/Chavez. I think Coco finally "arrived" tonight in the eyes of the "faithful" so to speak. There's always the game that we all look back on as the start of him really coming into his own in the uniform and he missed a good amount of time this season, preventing him from doing so. He scored the winning run and essentially won the game with his Superman catch on Wright. Great game from Coco. Glad I didn't have the ESPN feed too, judging by ELM's comment about clutch ability. Orsillo/Remy just noted that it was Ortiz's 200th career homer.

Mike Emrick. Hate to say it Sandy, but he was much better than Thorne at keeping up with the pace of the playoffs without butchering numerous foreign names. Probably the best hockey broadcaster the league has right now, American or Canadian. Jerry Remy walks the line between excellent commentator and complete screw-off. Either way, he's gold. Vin Scully is the only reason I watch Dodger games. If Scully's not broadcasting, I'll watch something else. Dave O'Brien/Dan Schulman as far as generic play-by-play guys go are pretty good. They're both very good no matter if they're calling professional sports or women's softball. Sean McDonough. Got shafted out of the pbp seat on NESN broadcasts. Still the only reason I'll even give a fuck about college sports. Grew up with him behind the mike with Bob Montgomery for Red Sox games on WSBK-38. edit- added a few names.

I really wanted Redden in the black and gold. I'd take Chara, but he's probably going to get a max contract. I think he'll go to the Rangers if he leaves Ottawa.

Yeah, next year.

8-0 Sox in the third. Pedro is looking like he's not mentally into this game. He fucked up on the Ortiz comebacker in the first, which resulted in the first two runs and he's just given up a homer to Gonzalez. He's through three now, but he's not looking good.

Team USA playing street hockey in D2 and finally coming together as a team. So cheesy, yet so, so wonderful.

My workphone: Nokia 3120. I hate, hate, HATE this phone.

Patrick Roy made it! Unbelievable! Who knew?

I just hope the right Beckett shows up so we get the game we're all expecting. I don't think anyone wants to see another 1 1/3 out of Beckett.

I would have called you on that this morning, but it was still early and MOC made sense to me. Dave Lewis is apparently the guy. He has numerous years as an assistant coach to some guy named Scotty Bowman. I'll take that over the "Pat Quinn Presents: Dump, Chase and Dive". Big changes being made by Chiarelli. And they're unpopular in some cases (Boynton being dealt, Gill not being reupped, Rayzor traded), which tells me that he's not only committed to winning, but he's willing to do what is right over what is easy. I say Chiarelli is a good thing. Now if only he could hear me as he is locked in his office in Ottawa.

"I think we should fish five days of the week and work for two" LOL The girlfriend and I have gone a few times in the last few months, mostly fishing off of bridges in Matlacha.

hey, you're alive! I agree with you wholeheartedly, I think the reason I'm taking it as well as I am is that I understand their reasoning behind making the trade. I also agree that Nick is the type of player that they should build around, center their young defense around and allow him to lead the team and blossom into the top pairing defenseman that he's going to be. Nick did play injured last season and it definitely showed with his performance; He looked lost at times and playwise he was more streaky than usual. He still gave an all out effort everynight and I commend him for it. But, I also look at this from Chiarelli's side. The fans have taken sides on Boynton regarding his contract shenanigans, resulting in some of the fanbase liking him and some others not liking him. Nick's last holdout cost him valuable time in training camp, resulting in him being a step behind when he finally joined the team. While Chiarelli could easily solve that problem (by signing him to a three/four year contract), he looked at the negativity brought to the team by Boynton, stepped in and delivered a solution.

IMO, it doesn't matter if you groove one to Loretta. You have to get him out because if he gets on (which he did), you're now dealing with the two big boys who will likely end the game.
-
They look stupid for walking Mark god damn Loretta to even raise the issue. I don't care if you have to put it on a tee for him. If Loretta beats you so be it, but to give him a free pass is inexcusable in that situation. And the Phils are now closer to the Pirates than the Mets, yippee. Of course this questions why Cholly decided to walk the somewhat streaking Loretta to get to Ortiz. Why teams continue to pitch to him with the game on the line is beyond me. Maybe Cholly had to get to the 99 and get the early-bird special.

Boynton. I'm sad to see him go. He is the type of player that plays with passion and was one of the few players last season who played like they gave a fuck that the team was so horrifically bad. Nick is one of the players that I would have hoped the Bruins would build around, put the 'C' on him and allow him to grow into a top defenseman. I understand why the move was made, I think this is Chiarelli's attempt to get rid of the negative things that surrounded MOC so he can start fresh and Mara is no slouch and will fit in well on the Bruins blueline. Best of luck to Boynton in Phoenix...except when he's playing the Bruins. Also, Jeff "Not the real GM" Gorton announced that they got Mara's autograph on a two-year contract... No holdout? That was easier than Nick...

Absolutely fine. Hannu excelled when given a chance last year until he suffered a freak ankle injury. Thomas seems like a worthy back-up, based on the way he played last year in Hannu's absence. This bothers me, as I would rather they keep Boynton, sign him to a long-term contract and make him captain.

I was hoping for Kessel or Backstrom (realistically, I knew Toews wasn't dropping to #5) and Kessel looks really fucking good right now. Even if he can't help the team right now, that's fine. He was projected as a top three pick in last year's draft, he's got talent. TSN's knock on him during the draft was his lack of personality in interviews. BFD. I'll take him. Rayzor for Rask is what it is. I never faulted Andrew for his play last season, I thought that not playing much in the lockout and taking a good deal of time to get a new contract effected him. Best of luck to Andrew except when he's playing the Bruins.
