Fast paced first period, Carolina got the goal on a lucky two deflection shot from the point. Both goalies look good so far.

I wouldn't worry about her. If she spells her name 'Klare', she obviously has a different set of problems.

Any takers for a Clement/Gonzalez package? *crickets* *tumbleweed*

Mario 2 is another one of those games that I could destroy on a summer morning when I was 10, but now, I can't get out of level 4.
-
Disaster for disaster, eh? I don't think so. At least Clement can pitch well for 2.2 innings.

The channel is always doing the "Ringside" specials for six hours, followed by some "Top 5 reasons..." nonsense. I wish they'd do the theme days again. They'd have a few classic games and sportscentury shows dedicated to a team or subject. I enjoyed them. I like Cheap Seats, but Arliss is awful. Awful. The one person at ESPN who thinks that show is funny should be fucking executed.

Any takers for Matt Clement? *crickets*

Perfect line. Same thing down here. It might as well be "Hockey's never gonna be No. 3 like basketball. But it's here."

I think people are a little caught up in dissing teams that move to the South. We have passionate fans. People are a little too quick to throw out every stereotype in the book when they talk about fans in the South, especially Hurricanes' fans. I live in the South. If you're going to lump in the Canes fans with a team like Tampa, you're out of your fucking mind. I had beer, soda and popcorn thrown at/on me because I had a Bruins jersey on at the Bruins/Bolts game earlier this season. Southern people are known for their CHARM, not always their class. I've met some of the nicest people in my life since moving down here; People that will help you any way they can, no matter what the circumstance is. I've also met people who wouldn't piss on you if you were on fire. No matter WHERE you live, there are going to be nice people and assholes. The person in the story that you told met assholes. There are also nice Sabres fans (my girlfriend's brother) who wouldn't even think of acting like those people in your story. My point? Everyone is different. Using the actions of a small group of people and using it to make a statement about a larger group is stupid and prejudiced.

He's an asshole. He took a popular team out of a region for no reason other than money. He knew he could eventually get a new arena in Carolina that would give him everything he wanted, so he took the team out of Hartford, despite the fans meeting his demands for season ticket sales and packing the arena to 90% capacity in an old building. You question the Buffalo fans' class, yet I'm sure that the Hurricanes or any other fans from North Carolina ALWAYS act respectful towards visiting fans. The fact remains that diehard sportsfans are usually assholes when it comes to rivalries. I have friends that won't give a Yanks/Rangers fan the time of day. They're nice, normal people, but when it comes to sports, some people lose their minds. Using a few bad eggs to "prove" that ALL Sabres fans are classless (which they are, but not as bad as Flyers or Lightning fans) is just stupid. And then DEFENDING a snake like Karmanos and asking how he's ever acted classless is just moronic.
-
Too busy moving teams to the south, man. Plus, there's no arena to move into, unless the team moves into the 30 year old civic center.
-
Oh yeah, the fact that the owner of the franchise actually wanted to MAKE money is classless and relevant to this conversation. Good post! Fact: Karmanos screwed up the negotiations to build the Whale a new arena. Fact: The final season the Whale existed, they averaged 90% capacity in a 15000+ arena. Fact: The first year of the Hurricanes existance, they averaged just over 9K/game Karmanos never wanted to keep the team in Hartford.

Beyond that, I'm going to have to check my calendar!

Some boxing is fine, but when they do the six hour special on one guy, it's pretty annoying, since they usually air another six hour piece right after it. 12 hours of boxing sucks when you don't want to watch as much as 15 minutes of it.

He should have been creative and worn #23...2+3=5

At least you have the good NESN feed. I'm stuck with Dewayne Staaaaaats and Joe "I hate Curt Schilling" Magrane. And the same verizon commercial every break.

What team is that? St. Louis or Boston? Must be the Cubs your talking about Buck's dad was the Cardinals announcer starting in 1765 and McCarver played for the Cards for a good part of his career.

What!? OH HELL NO thats fuckin bullshit.

Your VCR won't tune to anything because the cable box is your tuner. If you want to record something you leave the VCR set to channel 3 usually and then change the cable box to the channel you want to record. If you want your VCR to record automatically by changing channels you will need to get a splitter and split the COAX to both the VCR and DCT. So say I want to program my VCR to record a show while I'm out. Do I leave the VCR on channel 3 and leave the cable box on that channel that I want recorded? Yes. The only reason your VCR would pick up channels would be if you had the cable hooked directly into the VCR. I have two VCR's set up and they are set up two different ways. The first one has cable hooked right into the VCR and then a cable running to the TV. To record on this, the VCR needs to be on whatever channel I want to record. On the other setup, cable goes directly to the cable box, to the vcr, then to the tv.

It's not official until the press conference next week, but Chiarelli is in: http://www.boston.com/sports/hockey/bruins...as/bruins_blog/ http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=166993&hubname= And no pick coming out of this year's draft either as a result of mediation. We won't know what pick it is for a while, I suppose. The Sens plan to keep him hostage in Ottawa until mid-July, thus forcing him to miss the draft for his new team, which I feel is petty. Yeah, he's signed with a divisional rival to try and beat you at the same sport. But why keep him around? Are you going to trust him with negotiating contracts? Trying to figure out how to fit everyone in under the cap? Doubtful. I'd venture a guess that he's probably gotta train whoever to get his position. Another bright spot was that he oversaw the AHL Senators, who have been pretty successful in recent years. Plus, one of the articles reports that he decides Sully's fate, as well as whether he would like to keep Gorton. So to refute PK, at the beginning this is looking like a good partnership. Whether or not it remains that will be the key. All in all this is looking like a great signing, IMO.

I was working at a convenience store (not for them, but for my job) and a guy in a corvette drove off after filling up. The owner/manager got into his truck (I think he had a Yukon) and went after the guy. The vette apparently didn't think he'd have any repercussions because he was apparently in no hurry. The vette stopped at a light in the far right lane (it was a three lane road). The owner got into the far left lane and swerved in front of the vette, rendering him unable to go forward. There was a massive traffic jam and the police were called, etc.etc. The owner/manager got his money and the police found out that the vette driver had two outstanding warrants... fun story that I overheard.

I'll believe that when I see it. Whether or not he is allowed to have the final say on the head coach is going to be the first way to tell how much pull he'll actually have in the organization. I disagree. I think who he's able to bring in free agent-wise and how much money he's able to spend will tell us how much pull he has. Sully was dealt a bad hand, and I agree that he should be fired, but how is him possibly staying going to show us anything about Chiarelli? What if Chiarelli wants to keep him around?
