After watching Behind the Music: Pantera, I've been on a Pantera kick. Playing right now is my least favorite album by them "Reinventing the Steel". This is a pretty good album now that I'm not expecting much from it. Track play now: Yesterday Don't Mean Shit.

I think their minor league team is going to win the bet... http://www.brocktonrox.com/news/?id=5743

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=166960&hubname=nhl Chiarelli is hired as Bruins GM. Plus, they might not lose their second round pick as they'll go to arbitration with the league to decide Ottawa's compensation as Chiarelli had two years left on his contract. From what I've read at other places around the net, Chiarelli is a former agent and was Ottawa's main salary cap guy, meaning he might not go for signing another Shamnov-type contract. The team might actually be organized! *gasp* I have no issues with this signing.

There are a lot of things going around about it, not necessarily about money. First of all, the Bruins wanted Shero to keep Jeff Gorton on as an assistant GM (Gorton has been part of the scouting staff that has been the lone bright spot over the last few years). Shero didn't want to keep him on, as he felt that he should be able to hire his own staff and be able to choose whether or not he kept a Bruins guy. This called into question Shero's ego, since it wouldn't be hard for the two of them to work side-by-side on this massive rebuilding project. Plus, it's actually a good sign for the team to show loyalty to Gorton, who has scouted for the team for the last five or so years, which has lead to the drafting of Bergeron, Mark Stuart, Karsums and the rest of the young Bruins team. I don't think Shero was ever their number one choice; Dean Lombardi was their first choice, but they dragged their feet in getting into talks with him and he didn't return the same interest once they did. Jacobs not meeting with Shero directly isn't exactly a good thing, but really, we don't know what his schedule is. Plus, Shero has never been GM all on his own, so how do we know that he's not a younger MOC? We don't. It sucks that the team is still without a GM, but I'm not going to get up in arms over a guy that I couldn't pick out of a lineup. I'm glad they're looking at new blood rather than trying out a failure from another team. Whoever they get is going to be rough at first. This is not an easy job. Peter Chiarelli has emerged as a leading candidate. Since he's worked in Ottawa, what if he's able to sign here and bring one of Chara/Redden with him? Isn't that worth it? The downside to Chiarelli is that the Bruins have to give up a second round pick if they hire him, which comes full-circle for my post, since Gorton has excelled at plucking guys out of the second round and having them turn into pretty decent players. If they can sign Chiarelli, give up the second round pick to Ottawa, but Chiarelli can convince one of Ottawa's big two defenseman to sign here, it's DEFINITELY worth signing him over Ray Shero.

Is it worth complaining to OLN or the NHL that I've been blacked out of every game in both conference finals?

Please no. I'm all for contending teams moving prospects for a proven player (especially someone young and proven like Dontrelle), but that's like the entire upper tier of the Boston farm system gone in one shot for a pitcher who has shown fits of being inconsistent. Pedroia is already pegged as the 2B (or SS) of the future in Boston and Lester is the most hyped SP since Roger came up. It's too much after they bled the system for Beckett. I'd like them to keep Loretta for a couple more years and have Lowrie take over as the SS in a couple seasons. I can live with a middle infield of Loretta and A-Gon for a couple more years. I figure Papelbon will be starting eventually with Hansen becoming the closer. Becket, Willis, Papelbon would be unreal. But then what about second base? Loretta's a good player, but he's almost 35 and can't play forever. Why waste Pedroia to Florida, when there's probably a way to get Willis without giving up their two best prospects in the same trade?

It's fun having a farm system. I like Delcarmen, but he's the only one of those three that I would be comfortable with letting go to get Dontrelle.

...and then realize that you really have to pee.

The broad they've had covering Vinny Barbarino's surgery and the rest of the horsey stuff looks pretty fuckable. Of course, I didn't have my glasses on and was half asleep. I can't even remember her name.

Now to get to work on the food man...

I'm glad I have XM. For some reason, OLN has decided to black out every game of the conference finals (at least in my area).

Riske's gotten regular work on his rehab stint at AAA Pawtucket. I saw him strike out the side on Saturday in fact. That's a great sign, actually. But those were only examples. I don't understand why Schilling had to pitch that late in the game.
-
What was that about the bullpen? Right, because 4 meaningless runs in the ninth is an EXCELLENT barometer of the bullpen's effectiveness. Don't take it out on dama! He's a diehard! My question is why did Schilling go eight innings? mike himself said that the yanks are injury-riddled and starting AA players. Riske could use some work, Seanez needs to learn how to pitch. They had a six run lead into the eighth. Why risk burning out the ace in a "meaningful" May game?

Very, very good finale tonight. I thought they were going for the season 2 ending for Jack, but they swerved us but good. If they do next year trying to break him out of prison, I think it could be the best season yet. I give the season as a whole a 'B' for action and suspense. Somethings were pretty predictable, others were not. As far as believability, I give it an 'F-'.

13 players and around 35 million...

A mole gimmick would be awful. The regular mole is bad enough. It's like injecting AIDS into someone that already has cancer.
-
I don't think he was hurt per se, just miffed at being left off. His injury had healed already and he was undoubtedly better than Grahame, Esche and DiPietro.
-
Bout fucking time Gonzalez. 8-1 Red Sox. Remy: "Another power hitter coming up, in Beckett." I love you, Jerry Remy.
-
I was being sarcastic. Miller was better than Esche, Grahame and DiPietro.
-
Great game today. Buffalo takes it 3-2. Miller is definitely emerging as a star. Somehow, he wasn't good enough to make the Olympic team...
-
Pretty fun game so far. Each team has shown that they can create against the other and it's 2-1 at the second intermission.

Either the cameraman forgot to take the lenscap off the camera or I'm blacked out. In south Florida. The game is in Anaheim. What the fuck.
