But to completely discount Ottawa and Philly in the east is kind of stupid and not giving them the respect they THEY deserve. Buffalo is more dangerous than people think though. I wouldn't say a lot...Anaheim, Phoenix and Minnesota are low seed teams in the East. That's it. That's no worse than it's ever been.

The Flyers are a very good team, but their goaltending leaves a lot to be desired. Until Esche can prove himself, I wouldn't trust him. Niittimaki is a good player, but...Ottawa and Carolina have better goaltending.

I'd still take Ottawa, although the Weight deal is a very good trade for them (I think they gave up an awful lot for a rental player). Ottawa's defense is deeper and with a healthy Hasek, I'd take them over anyone in the NHL.

I'm very happy with Thomas emerging as a star, but I think it's only a matter of time before he falls back to earth. I don't know what their plans are for Raycroft. Getting Anderson off waivers says that Thomas might be in the NHL permanently, but it doesn't say what the future holds for Rayzor. He could be shutdown for the season because of his knee or he might be traded. I'd rather they hold onto him than trade him for something that might or might not help.
