What about Finland? They had a pretty good showing at the World Cup last year, didn't they? Made it to the finals where they got housed by Canada...

Maybe Atlanta will pick him up to put he and Holik on the same line. You know, the two recipients of the worst contracts in NHL history.

Plus, if the Guerrero family were successful in a civil suit against Cowherd, what will happen to free speech? Does this give Terrell Owens the right to sue all of the talk show hosts who have been piling on him and calling him "the worst teammate ever" and "a selfish jerk"? That's defamation, right? What Cowherd said was inexcusable but in his opinion, it isn't news. Did ESPN report when Hawk died? Or what about when Bossman died? Nope. He was probably sent the story by a few wrestling fans and commented on it. But to try and get him fired for this is just stupid. Lets say, god forbid, Test died. Nobody really liked Test, right? What if Herd said that his death isn't news and treated the story the same way? I highly doubt people would be creating petitions to have him fired. In short, let it go. Things like this are said and people move on. You're not going to make any kind of difference. Neither ESPN nor ESPN Radio will be fined by the FCC because there are worse things happening that the FCC needs to worry about (making sure people aren't swearing or showing their tits on television) than an opinionated talk-show host making a statement. Whether it's a popular opinion or not, it's his opinion to have.

I think he indirectly approached this subject on the show today during the steroids talk. Basically, The Herd is "big boy radio" and some people "get it" while others don't. Some people take everything seriously and get offended while some are able to see the big picture and debate something with him. All of the people signing ridiculous petitions to get him fired obviously never have and never will listen to The Herd. He spouts off things that are borderline offensive, but as he said today "if you don't like it, change the dial. I was brought in here to do what I do and I don't plan on going anywhere. I get yelled at on a daily basis. Doesn't bother me. I get email after email "COLIN, YOU'VE OFFENDED ME!"" and so on. Basically, he's not going anywhere and neither he nor his bosses care. So why waste your time?

Because it doesn't mean that they'll be allowed back in. Just if the third strike was an "error in testing" or something and the player feels that he wants to face all of the negative publicity that will come with appealing a lifetime ban.

Because the lyrics of the song were leaked before the episode aired. Taken alone, the song is bad, but when the New Orleans people realized that it was a crappy small town play on a fictional show and not the writers actually saying and meaning these things, it was dropped.

10-1 actually. Some markets drop his last hour, which is usually the best. Out of line comment from a guy who has made his niche taking a different view at things. I don't think he'll be fired, but certainly disciplined for what he said.

Kruk's votes must count more than anyone else's.

Mario baseball, tennis and golf are all solid games.

Only Nashville can make that division interesting though. Chicago is mediocre, Columbus has very few excellent players and St. Louis is the drizzling shits. I just think they'll make the playoffs, but get a tough matchup (Calgary).

Why is Isiah Thomas called 'Zeke'?

I think the Wings will get a bit of a reality slap once they get into the playoffs.

I see your point. It's going to be hard to replace Sergei when/if he leaves because I can see most of the money (hopefully) in the offseason going to defense. And Gill wears an alternate whenever someone is out of the lineup. When Joe missed a few games earlier this season, they had three alternates; Murray; Leetch; Gill. I too would put one on Bergeron or Boynton before Gill...

The answer to A.)...a suit and tie...or sport coat, tie, and slacks. The better dressed you are the easier to impress. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Anyone who wears a suit and tie to an interview at Target is going to be laughed at after they leave.

The only show I do this for is 24. I get them for xmas every year and finish the entire season within three days. Newsradio only took me five days, but that's only about twenty minutes an episode.

I think I saw one on PJ a few games ago. My issue with trading Sergei is getting value for him. He's playing very well so far this season and I don't want to end up trading him for less than what he's worth and end up getting shafted. Plus, with Joe's back having potential to keep him out of a few more games this season, trading an offensive weapon that can play on any line with anyone and still backcheck with the best of them doesn't make sense. Plus, if Joe leaves after his contract is up, they're really shooting themselves in the foot since it's unknown whether Sergei will be around. I'm torn. I like Sergei and would like to see him be a part of the team long term. I have a nice view of a top line of Bergeron-Boyes-Samsonov.

Buy this camera. You can get it on clearance at your local Walgreens. I have a few of these cameras for work and personal use and they work well. I recently bought two more, for the low, low price of $40 each. It comes with a USB cable that you plug into the camera and into the USB port on your computer. Take a picture of your ugly mug, plug the camera in, click and drag the picture from the camera into "My Pictures" and upload it to the internet.

I'm going to steal a Simmons line here, but I don't think MOC has a phone in his office. If he did, maybe he'd be acquiring warm bodies to put on the blueline. Someone like Brad Bombardir (currently AHL-ing for some reason). He has NHL experience in a defensive system and understands the meaning of DEFENSE. This AHL defense is going to dig a hole that they can't climb out of. Granted that Ottawa is probably the best all-around team in the NHL right now, but still. I can't understand how they can continue to look at this team and not see the fucking problem. The offense has looked steady. Not earth-shatteringly consistant or a constant threat to score (like Ottawa, for instance) but when that top line can get something going, they're usually good for a few goals a game. The goaltending hasn't been terrible. Toivonen has been admirable and hasn't really lost games as much as the defense has blown them. He still needs work, but he's going to be very good. The defense though...good lord. Gill is Gill. I don't have the time to go off on him right now. I'll just say that watching him play is like working with that guy in your line of employment who thinks he's capable of anything. Hal Gill needs to have a fucking rope tied around his waist and be attached to his end of the ice until he gets the idea that he's not an offensive defenseman. Sorry Hal. Your advantage is that you're a huge oaf of a man with a long reach. Therefore, Gill would theoretically excel in the defensive zone, but he thinks that he's capable of skating with the best in the NHL so he's routinely turned into a 6'7" statue with a black and gold sweater on. Jurcina, Alberts and Dallman have been bad, but not too offensive (no pun intended). They understand the game, but Jurcina takes stupid penalties and looks surprised when he gets called for them. Alberts and Dallman try really hard, but it's trial by fire for them. Boynton seems to be still getting back into playing shape.

Bruins lose 4-3 in OT, despite having a 3-1 lead with around five minutes left in the game. Hooray AHL defense!

To be fair, Erik Kuselias on ESPN's Sportsbash has a weekly segment with Barry Melrose. This is heard nationally on ESPNRadio. But I agree to a certain extent. ESPN has ignored hockey's existance for years now (even when they were on their own network). But, for those with Sirius satellite radio, they have a two hour show on weekdays on channel 123 devoted to nothing but hockey.

http://tsn.ca/nhl/news_story.asp?ID=142272&hubName=nhl Bruins dealt Andy Hilbert for a draft pick. This is troubling. Hilbert could have gone in a package to get a good defenseman. Instead, I guess MOC is going to put the AHL All-Stars out there.
-
Jurcina went down at the end of a 6-3 Bruins win. Maybe all Bruins defensemen should just skate around in protective bubbles.
-
Dallman left the game after blocking a shot and limping off the ice. So... Gill, Boynton, Alberts, Slegr, Jurcina...? Ray Bourque just signed as a coaching consultant. Maybe he can lace 'em up until Leetch gets back or MOC discovers that he's actually allowed to make trades during the season. The offense looked good tonight, as per usual. Toivonen had probably his best game so far. Even the goal wasn't his fault, it was a defensive breakdown (surprise!) The offense took advantage of a Luongo mistake behind the Florida net, allowing Boyes to score the first goal. The second was a nice set play with Joe, Muzz and Sammy combining for it.
-
And did anyone catch Ottawa thumping Buffalo tonight? That was ugly. Havlat had four goals, Alfredsson had four goals, Spezza had four assists, Heatley had two goals and an assist. This team looks to be the team to beat in the NHL. Not just the East.
