Booker taking some time off for injuries
Naked Snake replied to Spaceman Spiff's topic in The WWE Folder
It's actually good timing. Someone else can win King of the Ring and Booker can say he lost the "King" part without having to job in the tournament. Then he can feud with the winner of the tourney for the rights to the name. -

Greatest Interview in Sports Entertainment History
Naked Snake replied to haVoc's topic in General Wrestling
Hogan's interview after the Bash at the Beach. Nothing else comes close. -
The only thing I would change about X-7 is Rock would have kept the title going into Mania (instead of winning it at NWO '01...this also means Angle would not have won it at No Mercy '00) turned heel (Hollywood got to him), and Austin would have came back and beat him at the Astrodome (no heel turn with McMahon). The buildup for Austin/Rock II was not that strong in 2001.

1997 had that shock factor that you don't have now. 1997 had the real life war between WCW and WWF, where you just felt edgy and the stories had some amazing creativity. Not all the angles hit in 1997, but when they did, look out...

Did I miss HHH's return on this list?

This is probably one of my favorite moments on Raw, ever. Mick Foley raves on and on about this part in the Monday Night Wars DVD. Great moment and probably one of the best Raws ever (Cactus Jack returns, Michaels and Hart come to blows after 18 months or so, McMahon vs Austin foreshadow feud)

When one program clearly creates a new star
Naked Snake replied to humanoid92's topic in General Wrestling
Michaels putting over Austin. Yes, Austin was already over and already a star, but winning the title at WrestleMania 14 had an immediate effect on the ratings war. Austin went from star to mega star with his win over Michaels and putting the title on him to the WWF to a whole other level. -
The only thing that hurts Foley's title win was that it was taped and not live, in my opinion. I'm curious to see where Austin stuns McMahon in Madison Square Garden places. That was a tremendous moment in Raw history.

MITB tournament in single elimination, so RVD can't qualify again. Anyway, I really enjoyed RAW and liked the bit at the end where HBK teased superkicking Cena. However the silly DVD plugs is not something that is going to sell tickets for WrestleMania.

The Michaels versus Undertaker finals was funny, considering I was going to start a thread asking when was the last time they met in the ring. Rumble 98, right?

Any great memories of a particular spot/angle? Here's one of mine:
Naked Snake replied to a topic in General Wrestling
Austin backdropping Triple H from one broadcast table to another at No Way Out 2001. Here's Kunze's thoughts on it "Austin backdropped HHH from the English language table to the Spanish language commentary table. That was a tremendous spot. I hate the generic table spot where somebody take forever to set up a table while the opponent sells forever. This kind of table spot is unbelievably awesome, and I even started to like HHH again." -
The original plan for Michaels/Hogan was going to be 2 matches where each combatant would win one (this is retarded though because what's the point of doing 2 matches if it's going to be tied at the end?). Hogan did not want to lay for Michaels, and wanted to go over Michaels twice. HBK complained and cried to McMahon, but in the end, Shawn still had to do the job. That's why he oversold and shot on him the next day on Raw. Michaels telling Shamrock to call spots too loud happened on a Raw leading up to the 1997 Survivor Series. Michaels was calling spots out loud and encouraged Shamrock to do so (in order to make Shamrock look green). Anyway, here's Herb Kunze's tidbit on it "Shawn Michaels spoke too loudly again (as he had on RAW the previous week, in a match against Ken Shamrock that seemed to be thrown together at the last second)" http://rspw.org/tidbits/tidbits.971113 As for Michaels calling out the Undertaker, here's a quote from John Petrie's Raw Recap "The Undertaker appears on the Titan-Tron and says the "Hell in the Cell" will be Shawn's final resting place. Shawn the grabs the mic in his left hand and says "Undertaker ... ". The camera angle switches and suddenly the mic is in his right hand, with Michaels saying "I made you taste your blood once ... and at 'Hell in the Cell' you had better have liked the taste of it, because I guarantee you, you are going to taste it again!" Obviously something was edited out here. Word on the Net has it that Shawn tore into a string of profanities, and that this is what was cut out, as well as his challenging the Undertaker to come out and fight him, which was impossible since the Undertaker wasn't in the building. Some are saying Shawn deliberately made the Undertaker look bad, knowing there was no way for him to come out and face him. One also has to acknowledge the possibility that some was cut due to time constraints. Rumors of this being a major "shoot" are already circulating, with some speculating that this was a deliberate attempt by Michaels to get himself fired so that he could seek his fortunes elsewhere. As is always the case with the continuing Michaels saga, we shall see. http://rspw.org/petrie/970915.txt Michaels, although injured, didn't know if he was going to drop the title to Austin at WrestleMania 14. There was talk of Undertaker backstaging having to threaten HBK to do the job, but he was telling his friends that he didn't know if he was going to do the job at WrestleMania. Those are the big stories explained.

Shawn Michaels - Cuts a drunken promo on Raw alleging that Bret Hart has been seeing a lot of "Sunny Days lately" - Calls out the Undertaker after Undertakers pre-taped promo has aired, knowing Taker is not in the building - Doesn't know if he is going to job to Steve Austin at WrestleMania 14. - Goes out on television and openly states he will not lie down for anyone in the company - Reportedly faked an injury in order to not job the title to Bret Hart at WrestleMania 13. - Gets Ken Shamrock to call out spots loudly on live television - Pulls a visable temper tantrum at SummerSlam 1996 - The Curtain Call @ MSG hello! - Overselling for Hogan at SummerSlam 2005 - Buries Hogan in a promo the night after SummerSlam 2005 He's still my fav wrestler tho.

McMahon's "Unbelievable, Unbelievable" during the Ramon/Michaels ladder match at WrestleMania 10. McMahon's "Michaels got all of it, he got all of it. Michaels with the cover, 1, 2, 3!" at WrestleMania 12.
-
Shawn Michaels video before WrestleMania 14 was probably the best video package I've ever seen. It was on a Raw 2 or 3 weeks before Mania and it dealt where Michaels would go after Mania 14. The Bret Hart/Shawn Michaels video package before Survivor Series was awesome. Great soundbytes Bret: "Respect? I don't respect you" HBK: "Just because I live my life openly and freely, does not make you a better man than me!"

What are some of the best heel beatdowns you can think of? I'd say nWo on the Rock, on Raw in February 1998 nWo on the Dungeon of Doom + Savage on Nitro in September of 1996 What are some more?

Anyone know what Hollywood Hogan weighed in 1996? He looks way smaller from the 80's, but his arms still look great.

Michael Cole's, "Come on Eddie, Come on Eddie!" call during No Way Out 2004 is one of my favorite calls of all time.

I still don't know why the had Austin basically squash him on the Raw before WrestleMania 15. It really hurt his career in the WWF/E.
