What was the biggest crowd pop EVER?
Naked Snake replied to JimmyHendricks's topic in General Wrestling
Stone Cold winning the title at both WrestleMania 14 and WrestleMania X-7 were pretty big pops. Same with his run in on Foley's title win... -
Wow, Hogan was making over a million for each PPV in the WCW hot period. And I read he got over a million for WrestleMania V. He cried about his Mania XIX payoff tho

Has anyone seen the skit where Gorilla Monsoon throws Bobby Heenan out of the arena on Raw? Was it a comedy skit? Or an emotional one? If anyone can describe it in depth, it would be greatly appreciated.

Here's an excerpt from John Petrie that kind of gives us an example of a booking layout that WWE was thinking at the time "It seems a natural that the Rock will win the title this Sunday at No Way Out and go on to face Austin at WrestleMania. It wouldn't surprise me, though, if Angle actually managed to retain the belt. I also wouldn't be surprised if Austin's titleshot was put on the line in his match against Triple H. Then the Rock gets involved in that match, and somehow costs Austin the win. Austin is pissed, and the match between he and the Rock takes place as planned, but without the title. Angle would then defend the belt against Triple H, the WWF finally going back and resolving that love triangle storyline with Stephanie. Everyone gets the match they want to see, while Triple H--the Smartest Man in Wrestling--gets to compete at WrestleMania for the championship in the co-main event. I hope one of these two things happen, because otherwise I fear Triple H is going to worm his way into the Austin/Rock match, making it a three-way." http://rspw.org/petrie/010219.txt It kinda ties into the theory that Taker already had a program with the Island Boys, and that Angle and hHh would square off, and Austin/Rock. I actually like how X-7 turned out, (even though the main event is barely a **** match, people have overrated it into a ***** match).

Why did Austin squash the Big Show on the Raw before WrestleMania 15 if the plan was going to have them square off at WrestleMania 16?

I bladed after reading this thread. -

Newsflash: The McMahons have always exploited death (and anything else) in order to draw money. I don't think it's right, but it's not news either. -
Wow a WrestleMania caliber main event given away on free television! I'll surely watch this Friday (actually Thursday because I live in Canada). *I was being sarcastic*

Will WWE ever be as great as they were in 2000?
Naked Snake replied to AmazingRen's topic in The WWE Folder
Threads like this are funny. You can't accurately predict what is going to happen in the future. Look at 1988 for example. I bet people thought we'd never have someone with as much mainstream appeal as Hulk Hogan and no one would have the wrestling talent of Ric Flair. People also thought that run would last for ever. 5 years later, the WWF and the WCW were having hardtimes in 1993. 5 years after 1993 Stone Cold Steve Austin was catching on like gangbusters. How do you know we aren't 5 years away from the next big run of the Rock or Stone Cold? You can't accurately predict that. You can talk negatively because it's the smark thing to do, but it's really hard to see what the next big project is. I remember watching Rocky Maivia in early 1997 and thinking this guy would never be over. 5 years later the guy was a legit Hollywood actor. Right now things look crappy for the WWE, but you never know what will happen... -
The WWF took a big risk in booking WrestleMania IX in an outdoor arena. What backup plan did they have in place in case it pissed rain? I watched the DVD last night and I didn't see any tarps or anything just in case in rained. What would they have done if it rained? Another thing, Taker's WrestleMania streak has been pretty impressive. Was the streak ever in trouble? At what point did the WWF realize, "hey this guy is unbeaten at WrestleMania, let's keep this going?"

I need a good Rock dvd. Since the WWE isn't going to release one anytime soon, any recommendations on what to buy? I'm looking for most of his heel stuff (1997,1998,2003)....

I want a versus collection with SF vs X-Men, SF vs Marvel, SF vs Capcom! Capcom doesn't have the rights to Marvel properties anymore, so that probably won't happen.

Something isn't adding up. Taker and Bob Orton have both been gone since HIAC, right? They both were working house shows after that? Taker worked this past Saturday in Mexico and on December 29th in Buffalo (vs Randy Orton).

The first two questions refer to the Rumble as "Royal Rumble 2005". What's up with that?

Sid won the World Title in February of 1997 and was gone six months later. Batista is not drawing 1,000 crowd houses. He's doing way better than Diesel's run in 1995.

There's no way Edge is keeping the title until WrestleMania. This reminds me of when Foley won the title in January of 99 and everyone kept wondering what they were going to do for Mania. Obviously you knew it was going to be Rock Austin, but the trick was seeing how they were going to get the belt back to Rock. This year, the title matches at Mania aren't so obvious, so we'll just have to wait and see. I for one, didn't want Cena's reign to end, because I like long title reigns, but the reactions to him clearly meant that he had to drop the title.

Austin's return in late 98/early 99 when he WHACKED the Rock with the chair and helped Mick Foley win his first WWF title had nuclear heat. Even though that was telegraphed earlier during the show, and Austin wasn't really gone long, that was a great return. Others - Owen Hart beats the shit out of Shawn Michaels- DeGeneration X PPV in December of 1997. - Bret Hart's return speech, Raw October 1996 - Michaels return on Raw, July 1998 (He was off of television since WrestleMania 14) - Several of the Rock's returns after becoming a Hollywood star - Cactus Jack returns against Triple H, MSG Raw 1997, and SmackDown! January 2000.

WWE needs to keep the title on John Cena
Naked Snake replied to UZI Suicide's topic in The WWE Folder
Exactly. Huh? If anything these long titles reigns are a good thing (JBL's included) because it keeps fans suspenseful as to when the title is going to change hands next. Post 1999 the title has meant less because it has changed hands so often (ie guy wins a title, holds it for 3 months, another guy wins a title loses it 2 months later...). If someone holds the title for a year, I am certain that would mean more than jobbing a guy for the sake of a title change (see Vince Russo booking WCW champs in 1999-2000 if you don't believe me). -

Ok, here's a little game for us to play. The game involves WWF/WWE Champions and their title reigns. A person names a wrestler, and the poster after him states if his reign was transitional (ie putting a title on somebody so they can put over the "future of the company [sheik to Hogan in 84 for example] or traditional (Hulk Hogan's reign from 1984-1988). Some of the reigns are cut and dry, but others are up for debate, which is the purpose of this thread. So I'll start off with Randy Savage's 1992 reign. Someone will reply it was either transitional or traditional, explain why, then name another wrestler...and this will keep going.
