It's only spin if you want it to be. There's a lot of multicultural sources around here. And there's certainly a variety of colorful radio stations, some more radical than others. I think the bigger problem is the signal strength. I thought that station is reaching very many people in the first place. What happened to the "anyone but bush pic" in yer sig? Mine won't work anymore. Where did you get it from?

Not to mention Dick Morris on Fox everynight for his daily installment of "OMG CONSPIRACY Hillary hoping Kerry loses big so she can be the savior in 2008 blaaaah fucking blah" -

Today. He gave her a couple of pity laughs to her flat jokes. well hell, forget that idea then hahahahha. I hope Bill Mahr got some shots in on everyone.

well I see Bill Mahr is gonna be one of JG's upcoming guests. So I guess I will listen to that show. Of course there is no date, so chances are I miss it.

I wonder how it will do in SF considering SF already has KGO, which althought pretty balanced during the day, gets pretty liberal with Bernie Ward/Rar Talufero(sp?) back to back for night/late-night talk shows. Then again with only 4 shows right now, KGO would be going up against repeating shows anyway. I still have reservations about this whole project, I mean is this liberal radio or DEMOCRAT(and get Democrats elected) radio?

Goddammit Sacramento. No Miller tomorrow night vs. Mavs either, and WTF Bobby Jackson was supposed to be back 2 weeks ago. UGH. Only 1 game up now for the no. 1 seed.

"I'm fascinated by rap and hip-hop"
NoCalMike replied to Jobber of the Week's topic in Current Events
Kerry's comments on hip hop/rap music are quite hilarious. Pandering is just so precious. -

There was a 4 page article posted here about I'd say a little over a year ago on SUVs and it said SUVs get around a whole hell of a lot of emissions standards because before the "SUV" was a household type of vehicle, Tractors were in that group, and the government didn't want to punish the farming industry so they gave them exemptions on the emissions. Then somehow the car industy bought their way into getting SUVs into the same class as tractors. My memory is a bit sketchy on the details, but it was something like that. I wonder if anyone remembers that article.

Panthers are a swing team. They won so many games at the last second by 3 points. Teams like that just don't last. Of course it is possible that they will be better this season, but it is also very possible that this season they LOSE a bunch of the same type of games they won last year.

Is this another "hehehe Global Warming is a myth" thread? I think more importantly then claiming global warming is a myth, people need to start thinking of local/global solutions to excessive waste/pollution. The "theory" of Global Warming is irrelevent anyway. The reality is that pollution and waste is a problem, and there sure as hell can be a lot more done to help then what is currently being done.

Never happened to me. If losing your job would cause you to eat garbage, I feel bad for you. -=Mike It wouldn't cause me too eat garbage personally, because I don't make a huge wage to begin with, but lets take someone making 80,000 - 100,000 a year. They lose their job, and according to you, should just suck it up and flip burgers & mow lawns. Ok fine, so the combined income of both of those comes out to about $28,000 a year. With that said/assumed, how in the hell do you pay the bills for the 2-3 months it takes you find a new job? Move to another house you say, ok fine, but living in a 200-300,000 dollar home, it will be on the market for a couple of months, so once again, it isn't just a matter of "move if you have to" I just don't see how you are addressing the reality of the situation. I said, that in my present situation, I wouldn't need unemployment, basically because I am single and can make ends meet with a lower-scale job, but for someone with a high paying job and the bills that go along with that lifestyle, just how in the hell would McDonalds/landscaping be a viable option for the 2-3 months it takes to find an equal paying job to the one they lost?
-
To be generous, none of YOUR damned business. It was a rhetorical question buddy, don't be an ass. You assume I'd do just one job. You assumed I didn't hold several jobs at a time. I'm SORRY that self-sufficiency scares so many here. Actually, I didn't assume any of that. Then cut expenses. Move if you have to. Hold multiple jobs if you have to. Don't snivel and whine about how "tough" it is. -=Mike Ok instead I will move to TheMikeSC's bubble on "planet your not working hard enough" (I messed up the quote tags btw, but try and work it out )

Perhaps I'm looking at this the wrong way, but ethically, don't you see something wrong with not only taking advantage of people in other countries' shitty status? Is there nothing wrong with the sweatshops that Nike runs? That's not with what this "new" wave of outourcing (with white-collar programming jobs among those supposedly being lost). For example, Hungarian computer programmers start at $4,800 a year; American programmers start at $60,000 yet in Hungary, that $4,800 would buy a comfy middle-class lifestyle. That is nice for hungary, but still how does this answer the question of what type of equal or HIGHER quality jobs are being gained here in America because Hungary is getting the programming jobs? Getting a Bachelors or Masters degree and then losing your programming job only to become an overnight stocker at Wal-Mart is hardly the "american dream" that certain economists and pro free trade advocates promise or elude to when they claim, "oh don't worry, this will make better jobs come here!!!"

Well I think this world is full of both types of people you mentioned, however abusers should not be able to dictate the policy for users.

Coincidentally, on the absolute worst album they've ever produced. This is true. I haven't bought an album of theirs since Mideon, but I really don't like their stuff beyond the Cruelty & The Beast years.

Because, far too often, it ISN'T used "properly". It is MEANT to be used as the stopgap while you look for another job. And whilr I wouldn't ever do that (again, I can return to waiting tables, or delivering pizza, or any of a number of things I did in my youth), if somebody else decides to and only does it briefly, fine. However, WAY too often, it is used IN PLACE of having a job (there is a reason the GOP backed time limits on drawing it). Many would stay on it INDEFINITELY, if given the chance. NO policy works perfectly for all people at all times. To try and do it would be fool-hardy and a waste of your time. And, again, I've had to take jobs I hated to make ends meet. I can't cook to save my life, but managed to get jobs in kitchens for years whenever I needed it. I loathe yard work, but have done plenty of landscaping in my life. Occasionally, you have to do the crap work. -=Mike well then this begs the question: What is your social status? I'd imagine kitchen work/landscaping is rather horrible pay, but for a single guy with a small amount of bills(assumption) of course this is a viable option for YOU, but you are not looking or just outright ignoring the fact that washing dishes and mowing lawns is just in no way a reality for a lot of people. Even if they were willing to do it, both at once, it still wouldn't pay for 1/2 their bills. Hell Unemployment in itself would barely pay the bills, so it would be hardly desirable to replace a good paying job. Also, the higher the wage you leave behind at a job, the harder it will be to find the same pay somewhere else. This has nothing to do with "refusing to do a job I don't like" it is more the simple fact that these jobs, that they don't happen to like, would in no way pay the bills.

if it is on in SF, then I can probably weakly pick up the signal from here in Sacramento. I wonder if it will broadcast over the net.....
-
ok but now you are searching for any little reason to call him a leech. Of course he is looking for work, or I'd hope that was assumed, I mean he does have a family to feed and all. Not to mention that unemployment for the most part is only a fraction of your regular salary in the first place, so it is not like the husband could just sit back, kick his feet up and live carefree for a month or two. Of course this is a hypothetical husband anyway, haha.

The one thing the record labels never want to mention about file sharing services is that they open an entire pandora's box of artists that otherwise would never be heard. Yeah you could walk into a record store and buy a cd purely on curiosity, but for your average teenager, they don't have the money to do that once or twice, until they give up. Record Labels want to control what we listen to basically, and file-sharing cuts into the mind control. I mean look at American Idol, can you believe they were able to convince people to go buy a "Clay Aiken" cd!?! I mean seriously, WTF? Now like I have said before, the indy/underground scene has as much CRAP if not more then Top 40/MTV/mainstream(whatever you call it), but the fact remains, CHOICE and LOTS OF IT, is our best friend in this matter, and the RIAA/clear channel, wants NONE OF IT for us.

I took my girlfriend to Kittie for her birthday and as we were waiting for an autograph, Morgan Lander(lead singer) invited us backstage to party. I also partied with Digital Underground on their big bus. Wow, I have never seen that much weed in my life. Imagine the lead singer of digital underground, yeah the "humpty dance" guy, pulling you to his computer and playing fionna apple mp3s and trying to break down the lyrics. He also was playing some 2pac songs and breaking down line by line what was meant by each line. It was a trip. Yeah I have been to a bunch of shows, but those are two instances where I was invited backstage/on the tour bus.

So is this just a 90 minute version of that Tales From the Crypt Santa episode? Hahahaha.....

That's the saddest part of it all, is that more people don't get to see this show due to it being on a premium cable channel. I'd imagine a bunch of corporations have been angered by this show, but know also it has a limited audience. The episode on bottled water was hilarious, as well as the "raw foods" clowns. This is a good show.

Undead: If you like zombie flicks at all...
NoCalMike replied to Downhome's topic in Television & Film
I saw the trailer for this a looooong time ago and always wondered when it would get a US release. How can I get a hold of this movie without buying it or downloading it? Does netflix have it? Maybe it is time to finally sign up with them.
