How can you be an A's fan and cheer for the Redskins? You better start supporting the Raiders...now. I was born in Maryland. My family was raised liking the Redskins for football and Washington Senators for baseball. When they left, everyone started liking the Orioles by default, but weren't really fans until my generation which would make me an oriole fan..........EXCEPT........My family moved to CA when I was 6 years old. So since the Redskins still exist I remained being a fan, and then I just started following the A's instead of the Giants since I was 7 years old. So there ya go. Oh and for basketball, same story as why I am an A's fan.

Well that much is true. I mean let's face it, the shape the A's were in going into the playoffs, they had no business going up 2-0 in the first place. This wasn't the same A's team of the past 3 years playing their strongest baseball in late september. Yes they had a second half run again, but the pitching staff was hurt at the worst time. If Mulder starts Game 3, then tonight was probably the first game of the ALCS rather then Game 5 of DS.
-
The A's also have a superior farm system. Pretty much everyone on the team worth mentioning was brought up within the A's organization.
-
The Braves/Yanks will always be good with the owners they have. A bottomless pocketbook also helps in a system like the MLB one.

I am still disgusted at the Chris Singleton at-bat. That bullshit strike call that was 5 seconds too late changed that entire at-bat. Damn, I feel like my heart has been chewed up and spit out all over my dinner plate. Game 3 is going to live in my head forever, the shitty calls by the umpire cost a run. Argh....*breaks something*

Sacramento is only considered a worse market because of the lower population, but as far as FAN-DA-MONIUM and supporting a team, and showing up to games, Sacramento would do a hell of a lot better than the shitty fans in Oakland(not all of them of course). Not to mention the Oakland Collesium is located in a bad part of town. I just don't want the team moving to San Jose or any farther from me. The 100 minute drive to the stadium is long but not too long. If the A's were closer, I would seriously considering getting a season ticket package, probably not all 81, but possibly 40 games or something.

See the frustrating part of being an A's fan is that with the owner they have(or to be more honest, the pocketbook the owner has) The A's being successful is all based on their players being All-Stars within the first 4-6 seasons of their career. I mean some players don't even hit their stride until 10 seasons under the belt. ESPECIALLY pitchers. It is a real possibility that we haven't even seen the best from Mulder/Zito/Hudson/Lilly/Harden. Hudson is the oldest at 28, and he has been getting better every year.
-
Well I hope Sacramento makes a real attempt to get the A's if they move when their lease is up.
-
Nope. Well it is a possibility but the A's don't have an owner that can consistently keep stars through free agency like the Yanks/Braves can. The A's usually put together a good team and make some great deal to give them more steam headed into the playoffs, however when they lose a star like McGwire, Giambi, Tejada, they can't go out and get another 100million dollar player for the picking. I'm not saying it is impossible, cause everyone said the A's were done when Giambi left(If he was still there I think the A's are two-time WS series right now). To me the key is Eric Chavez. There are rumors going around that the A's aren't resigning Tejada because Chavez is younger and has even more potential to be an offensive machine, however so far he has put up impressive numbers, but not enough to carry a team like Giambi did and Tejada did last year. I really don't to lose Guillen either, and he has stated he wants to stay put in Oakland, but I am sure he is going to demand some huge salary that the A's won't get done. So I guess we will have to see if Billy Beane-ball can work for one more year.

Me too, except his name was Bobby Heenan.

Excuse me Jim Ross, but how in the fuck is this a HUGE win for Flair/Orton, when they are facing jobber rookies? Quit overselling asshole.

I think McNabb is an above average QB who has PLAYMAKER ability. He is not a QB that is going to go 25/28 350 yds 4 TD passes, but he does have the playmaker ability that can erase bad passing stats and make everyone forget about them. Just like Vick so far. I have no doubt that Vick is gonna be great eventually, but up to now, he is a QB that has a rocket for an arm, but does not have the accuracy of an elite QB, yet because he can run, he never gets criticized for the bad passes he makes.

I blame record labels. They want everyone to like everything these days. They want rock bands to sound bland enough so that the casual music fan will listen to it. I mean seriously, what is a casual listener more likely to listen to, Metallica from the 80's or Saliva? Music should go back to being made for that specific group of fans, and if you don't like it, don't listen to it.

Well as a Skins fan, at least it looks like Ramsey will be the cornerstone of our franchise for awhile. If he doesn't get killed that is. I must say the only really IMPRESSIVE thing about the coaching staff right now is the ability to make halftime adjustments. I have watched this team get their teeth kicked in in the first halves of games for 4 straight weeks, only to see them dominate teams in the second half. Oh how I wish for a complete game. Ramsey doesn't even have a full season of starts under his belt and this offense with all the new players is pretty raw. I am sticking to my prediction that 2004 will be a breakout year.

I have a question. Can baseball "judgement" calls be overturned by another umpire.....(not counting whether a batter swung or not).
-
The whole "a kid asked me if it was ok for a black person to play QB" is almost as ludicrous as the notion that every kid in america was going to ask their parents what a blowjob was because of the Clinton stuff.
-
McNabb has not been overrated as an athlete, playmaker, or player in general. As far as being overrated as a pure QB, yes, I would say so. He is in a slump right now, but it is more than just this season. Donovan has shown repeatidly that he is not comfortable being a pocket passer. He doesn't want but NEEDS to be able to move around in the pocket/backfield in order to have any kind of flow. McNabb is a playmaker, no one denies that, but as a pure QB, he is slightly overrated methinks. Now as far as what Rush said, I think he was offbase. If Anything the media should be hyping McNair if they want a "great black QB" to shine. If Rush is basing his opinion on the fact that McNabb is black, then would he also step up and say players like Sehorn and Urlacher are overrated simply because they are white?

fucking A's need to to do something tomorrow. I am tired of this shit in the divisional series. This is the second time in 3 years they have been fucked over in a game that has turned the tide for the other team in the series. First it was Giambi getting called Out when he was obviously safe if you look at the replay, but his stupid ass didn't slide which made it a close call. Then Tejada stops on the basepath and gets called out when obviously he should have been awarded the base regardless, however he makes the call close by not finishing a play where the throw to home was so offline, he could have trotted home, but he STOPPED..... ARRRRGHH DAMMIT.

My hatred of Triple H goes all the way back to DX v.2 when he was the leader of DX with HBK out of wrestling for the moment. I never thought DX was the same after HBK left and it started me slowly down the path of HHHate. It worsened when his GOD feud started with Foley. During that era, I respected his ability to play a hated heel, but I never once cared for his workrate at all. The matches with Foley were great, but if you dissect the matches, by thirds, you would see that the 2/3 of the match that was actually great, was Foley being beaten up by chairshots and weapons, along with Foleys signature big bump, so I could never understand the credit Triple H got for those matches. Once Foley put him over FOREVER like that, Triple H was officially GOD to the marks, and my hatred was full-fledged while most of my peers were merely annoyed with him. We come to present day and there are about 100 more reasons to hate him now, but many of those reasons tie into Vince being an idiot, and Steph being infatuated with a beefcake. So I take notice that I really did dislike HHH for reasons other than situations where Vince/Steph were helping his masterplan churn along.

Another vote for the "HUH" of Angel of Death not being on there.
-
Funniest part was a republican strategist calling this a "democratic tactic" yah sure, azif both sides don't pounce on these situations alike.
-
I guess the booking staff has actually been paying attention to the crowd heat on Nash, hell according to fan reaction, Nash HAS BEEN a heel ever since he came back from his injury.

Am I the only one that has a real problem with open toed shoes on catwoman?
-
Ya the last time the A's went up 2-0, they fell victim to a BULLSHIT call by the home plate umpire, just to appease the "yankees greatness"
-
yah and anyways....there are much better reasons to not want Arnold as the governor.
