A great deal of al-Sadr's power is largely more symbolic these days than anything else. His greatest skill just seems to be keeping himself in the public eye during big moments (Saddam's execution, recent conflict with the Iraqi military, the cease-fire).

Good to see you have your priorities in order. Oh hush, that's not even the most tasteless joke in this thread. By the way for those interested, though I don't completely agree with it, here's a recent article on al-Sadr's current role in Iraq. How Moqtada al-Sadr Won in Basra

Hey at least black babies dying isn't adding too much to the national debt. The conservatives have to give us that at least.

I miss Estrada with Umaga.

I'm curious if Knox will not survive the spring cleaning round of cuts or will inexplicably remain on the roster for another couple of years.

Jesse Ventura's on Larry King right now. Interesting as always, though his primary focus is not surprisingly on wrestling. -
Its actually quite hilariously tragic at how many of the current problems in the war essentially stem or were made possible from fuck-ups within that first year, especially from the CPA. -Naive attempts to automatically transform the Iraqi economy into a free market in an absurdly short amount of time. -De-Baathification -Disbanding of the Iraqi army (without actually disarming them first) -Gross misunderstanding of the Shiite-Sunni relations in the country -General lack of action towards the looting -Rumsfeld's outright shitty military edicts

Kane is probably the guy in the battle royal with most legitimacy, plus they'll want a babyface against Chavo. I wouldn't mind Miz myself, but that's just personal preference.

Anyone think there's a chance of the Cruiserweight title ever coming back? -
That Raw had one of my favorite little character moments for Batista. After Evolution's scheme (Batista and HHH arguing, including the latter berating Dave for losing via DQ to Jericho, leading to Triple H supposedly being knocked out before his scheduled WHC match with Benoit), the three are gloating in the ring about swerving everyone including Benoit who had to wrestle Edge instead. Right in the midst of it, HHH praises Dave for doing a job well done, but casually says that he still should have beat Jericho. Cue a great shot of a subtly pissed Batista, clearly not pleased with the remark. If they could do that, with Tomko having Kurt's back, but with some little indications that he has plans of his own, then the build-up would be great.

Well Rock basically had to move mountains to even do the Hall of Fame ceremony so I don't believe he can make Wrestlemania. Why would he even get involved in that match anyway?

The OAO LIVE Impact thread (3.27.08)

Speaking of LAX, I recall reading a report a few weeks ago that talked about how Booker requested the feud with Robert Roode, and apparently expressed a wish to work with Hernandez as well. Of course that same piece of news mentioned how they were thinking about turning Black Reign face and having him team with Booker again, so we'll see how it goes. Edit: Correction, that was Tomko who Booker wanted to work with, not Hernandez. Sorry for that. -
A lightning strike in the midst of MITB would top Jeff's and Shelton's stunts in the past. Though kayfabe it would work out much better during the World Heavyweight Title, if just given Taker's magic powers. Same with Kane/Chavo, I suppose.

Frontline on PBS just did a great episode on the war that you can watch on their website. Bush's War It's long (Part 1 runs 2:30 and part 2 is two hours), but its quite exaustive and really helps with the chronology of major events.
-
Well, until recent events I would expect one match from Benoit/Booker best of seven. Even if they were to include Booker (circa 98, that is) it would probably be something with Finlay, Saturn, or maybe Martel.

A strong ending for Orton wouldn't make that big a difference, and its Flair possible second to last mach, let him have it.

Filming a movie apparently.

24 man tag? Holy shit.

Torrie's back is screwed up, she hasn't wrestled for a while.

She got slightly injured, was sent home for personal problems, then brought back to preserve the intergrity of BunnyMania.

Somewhere Adam Pearce wonders how Flair got that belt.

This makes me wonder if WWE sees any mileage in a Khali/Show fued in the future.

Its an unpopular opinion and I'm sure it would never happen, but you know who I would like to see announce Ric Flair's last match? Tony Schiavone. Yeah, I know he got worse near the end of his run and "greatest night in the history of this sport", but considering how much he's called a lot of Flair's most famous moments, it would be cool to have him announce Flair's final match.

JBL's a solid heel, but I miss his light-hearted evil smiling character from two years ago.

I'd really like to see some lower-carder like Duggan or Super Crazy point at the Wrestlemania 24 sign and pantomime excitedly that yes, they'll get to watch it on PPV.
