This turned out to be a very solid show, even though it didn't have the big names of 84 I found it just as enjoyable. - To all bitching about the Vera fight, blame Vera for doing absolutely dicknothing from the bottom. I fucking can't stand it when fighters put themselves in bad positions, do nothing to get out and then bitch about not being hurt. Werdum was laying into him and Vera did NOTHING to get out from under. I like Truth and all but he needs to step back and take a look in the mirror when he's addressing blame here. - It really sucks England doesn't have an athletic commission otherwise I'd say Nate should be filing a report to get that decision reversed. Doesn't take away from what was a good fight and hey, anytime we see a full-on piledriver in a fight I'm a happy camper. - I don't know why Hawk is crying over Swick's performance, he basically shut Davis down completely and used his size and reach very well. Sucked to see Marcus lose but I like Swick so it's not terrible. - DAMN did Bisping look good there. Awesome killler instinct when he was throwing down from on top, fantastic ground and pound. - Hardonk earns the love of anybody who hates Eddie Sanchez for making us sit through his last fight. - DOUBLE PUMP KNEE. Gee Christ Alves looked scary here, those shots he threw from on top were fucking lethal. I don't see what the whole debate over the weight thing is, unless all of it settled in his knees. - Matt Wiman? Seriously? I don't know who he KO'd but it certainly wasn't the fighter who came close to beating Tyson Griffin.

I picked it up. It was fairly cheap and the undercard was solid.

I get the whole "If you can see the cabin you're special" thing but they were pretty pressing with the idea that Hurley was important in finding it when he didn't do anything at all.
-
Vera is a good tournament grappler. To say he's proven himself in MMA terms would be inacurate.
-
So, thinking on this season one thing that never amounted to anything was Hurley seeing Jacob's cabin. They left it alone until Ben told Locke about it but even then it meant nothing because Locke had the dream about Horace and found the DHARMA blueprints on his own, Hurley played absolutely zero role in all of it.

Werdum looked mad doughy at the weigh-ins.

My issue with the raising of the dead is that the islands spiritual/healing properties have been established since day one. I know we're constantly discovering new things but for them to wait 4 season to reveal that the Island can raise the dead would be weak.
-
Maybe. It's the Island, after all. The main reason I'm so resistant to the idea that Christian is alive is because I really, really don't want it happening. I've been able to process pretty much everything on the show so far but raising the dead is a slippery slope.
-
We never saw him walk around anywhere except in peoples crazy Island visions. Plus it's very explainable that his body landed somewhere else given that the coffin was free-falling from a crashing plane. Like I said, we've seen the Island do a lot of things but raising the dead isn't one of them.
-
Christian is dead. We have yet to see any proof that the island can bring the dead back to life so until we get more info on that I'm going with the whole "Island vision" theory.
-
Will leave him open to takedowns, hence why he was hesitant with them against Karo and will likely be against Hughes.
-
I like Hughes but that man hasn't shown up for a fight since BJ back in '06 and even then he got tooled until BJ seperated a rib. Of course he came back but Hughes hasn't looked like "The Matt of old" in a while. He seems excited about fighting a guy he can actually take down though so I imagine we'll see some Country Boy wrestling come tomorrow night.
-
To my knowledge nobody that the producers have said is dead and gone have actually came back in present time.

MMA Comments that Don't Warrant a Thread

So the Brazillian MMA site Tatame has a posting right now saying that we will be seeing Anderson and Lyoto as Nog's assistant coaches on TUF. If so, GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. They should just team up and take on the entire house AND Mir and his coaches. -
Lindelof and Cuse have stated MANY TIME that Mikhail is dead, gone and not coming back in present day episodes. Of course there's always flashbacks but that dude is DEAD.
-
Well this isn't a title fight but I understand what you're saying, he's had 2 months notice for this fight and still couldn't make the weight. Doesn't show the greatest commitment though if he can't cut down for his first ever main event.

Forrest was the favorite over Jardine, IIRC. -
Unless the cut of steak you're eating is something cheap like flank no self-respecting man should be putting sauce on his steak.

Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia

It's official. There's a video on the Sherdog main page with Andrei talking to Loretta Hunt about the 3-fight deal he's signed. -
We saw Charlie in a room full of water that he couldn't get it out of, that was fairly definitive. Shannon got popped at point-blank range. Those are two off the top of my head.

But Arlovski was faster then Sylvia so I expect he'll be against Rothwell too. Saying you're faster then Tim Sylvia is like saying you have better cardio then Kevin Randleman. -
It'd be better if it was "Doin' a bid upstate" or "Locked down by the man".

I'd be remiss to point out that this whole "Forrest is dead" talk surfaced before the Shogun fight so it's not outside the realm of possibility he pulls it out. I just don't see where he can do it. He's not going to out-muscle Rampage like he did Shogun, his wrestling isn't in the league where he could take Rampage down. Won't submit him, almost no chance of KO'ing him too. Forrest is tough but I see this being one of the more brutal championship beatdowns in a while. -
Rashad's is the best by far and the person who did it gets super-duper extra points for nicknaming Irvin "Bad Luck."

And Rampage isn't?
