Lord of The Curry replied to RavishingRickRudo's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Dana must be fuming. Not only is this show going to be disasterous in terms of buyrates (if it's a PPV) but the press he'd have recieved from having Chuck in his first ever UK bout is also down the shitter. The worst part is that it's pretty much his and Joe Silva's fault for making 84 so stacked when it comes to all the top players at LHW. -

On that same note I'm stoked about Din Thomas moving down to 145 and heading to WEC. -

That'll depend on whether it's now a Spike show if Chuck is off or if they'll manage to salvage a PPV. I personally could give two shits about a Evans/Hamill main event and I imagine many could too. The undercard of the show is solid no question but to say this would be a salvageable show without Chuck in the main event is down right insane and to imagine this could get a decent buyrate with said main event is expecting a lot out of fans. Edit: FWIW, Meltzer has been saying that James Irvin has been contacted as a replacement. Also another main event people will have an issue paying for if it's a PPV. -
Fryklund getting cut open by both Loiseau and Goulet en route to stoppages with him making the same exact reaction both times will go down under the funnier moments of TKO/UCC history,

I think if Dana called Thiago or Wilson and offered them the main event of a show that has title implications in the future versus a main card fight against a UFC debutante they'd be absolutely retarded to turn it down. -

Any other stipulations you'd like to add? Perhaps that I can't use fighters who have a vowel in their name? -

Oddly enough I've never hated anything about you other then your constant ignorance. -

I love when I make a valid point and then you side-track my comment (like you do with everybody else) by throwing out a question that's off-point. And no, I thought Gray was a step down for Frankie just like Hammil would be a step down for Rashad. -

Ideal opponent versus deserving opponent are totally different beasts. -

Hamill at the moment isn't at Rashad's level to be challenging somebody who's on the cusp of a title shot. I like the fight but I don't see it going down. -

No TUF fighter has ever been under contract while on the show for that matter. Kalib has officially been cut, btw and I can only assume he'll retire as nobody will touch him at this point. -

I'd say you put Rashad against somebody lesser known @ 205 as the main event and make Vera/Werdum the co-main. As I said before though the problem is that there is literally nobody with a name to put Rashad against unless Thiago Silva or Gouveia are pulled off the main card of 84. -

I'm wondering if Dana is desperate enough that he'd hot-shot Okami/Silva to this one. -
Affliction - Banned: Fedor vs. Sylvia
Lord of The Curry replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
In all fairness Fedor didn't cheat to use the ropes to submit Cro-Cop like Nog did. -
It depends on the method of Tito's decision. If every round he works Lyoto over like he did Forrest I'll be impressed and have no issues ranking him. If he fights like a complete pussy like he did when he got Rashad down it'll be another story.

Okay, now this is up in the air. The dumbass @ Sherdog who made the thread has been outed as a troll but @ DVDVR there's a link to fiveouncesofpain.com where it says the fight is off. -

I could see them scrapping the show entirely and making it a Spike event. 99% of the reason they went overseas was their knowledge that Chuck in a UK main event would sell out and get huge publicity. -

Chuck/Rashad is OFF due to Chuck being injured. In retrospect they totally screwed themselves by making UFC 84 so top-heavy when it came to the elite LHW's. Lyoto, Wandy, Thiago are all tied up and Jardine and Rashad won't fight each other. I have no clue what they're going to do. -
"He is basically a black version of Jardine." No disrespect but that's a fairly ignorant statement to make.
-
If you have Forrest in your top ten (and you likely do) then by proxy of that Jardine needs to be included.
-
I don't see how you can blame Tito for utilizing something effectively. Yes, he was one of the pioneers for ground and pound within the guard but the difference is that Tito's strikes were damaging enough that passing for him isn't an issue because he doesn't need to. I wouldn't rank Tito in the top five if he beat Lyoto. Rampage, Forrest, Jardine, Chuck and Shogun are all still above Tito because they, unlike him have racked up wins that matter over the last 3 years.

UFC 83 - Serra vs. St. Pierre 2
Lord of The Curry replied to Lord of The Curry's topic in Mixed Martial Arts
Holy Club Super Sexe, Goulet chopped $75,000 for the KO of the Night bonus. Daddy Warbucks must've been in a spending mood because the Montreal gate was 2nd behind Tito/Chuck II in terms of revenue. -
Was an elite LHW but hasn't been worth a damn in the last 4 years or so. The Rashad fight showed that he still has the ability to be the fighter he once was but I think with his obsession with being a businessman as well as injuries piling up he's on the down-swing. The Lyoto fight could prove me wrong, though. If he fiinished Lyoto he'd be back in the top ten easily but still a long way to go from getting a title shot. At the Q and A with Dana in Montreal somebody asked about Tito and Dana has said that they've hated each other for years now and Tito always comes back to UFC when times like this roll around.

For those planning to go to Montreal for future UFC events make sure you eat breakfast @ Boccachino's, it's all-day and the cheapest most delicious food. That and the waitresses are all insanely hot. 6 HOURS
